Does Anyone Know How The Site Advertises?

I feel like, since professional cuddlers are making the site money, we have a right to know how and where the site is advertising. That's going to have a dramatic impact on who the clients are and what they expect from the cuddlers they book. Any information that explains how the advertising works would be helpful and much appreciated. Also, what are ways that we, as professional cuddlers, can help to advertise and promote the site?

  • You do not have the right to know how the money is spent because you are an independent contractor. I understand what you are saying, but because you are an independent contractor and not an employee they do not owe you an explanation.

    @sagelight

    I have never see Cuddle Comfort advertised anywhere except for in some online articles. I've also heard of it being spread by word of mouth. VICE did a video on Cuddle Comfort a couple years ago and I'm sure that sparked some interest also. Personally, I advertise the site on the social section of a popular Canadian classifieds/buy and sell site from time to time. It's attracted more people than I thought it would.

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you might be concerned as to whether the site is being advertised on sexual/suggestive platforms. I don't have direct insight into this obviously, but I can promise you it isn't. Site owner @Mark and his team do all they can to ensure that people seeking these things have less of an avenue to get to us. He has even gone so far as to take suggestions on what sites he needs to block the incoming traffic from.

    I will note however, that the website "CuddleUp" does advertise on not only dating sites, but escort/erotic massage boards. I've seen these ads myself, and I wish that awful excuse of a website would be shut down. Never use that site if you're serious about your business. That's a place where it's virtually all johns and ex-Craig sex mongers. The funny thing about this dynamic is that the johns on these escort boards will mention CuddleUp, someone gets curious and decides to go sign up and see if it's real...they might do more googling later on and then find this site. And so, because it's another website they can sign up to, they figure "Hey, I wonder if I can also convince the girls here to sleep with me!"

    So yeah, CC's advertising isn't the thing that's attracting these individuals. It's people finding out about the other "cuddle" site, or asking other johns for alternatives to Backpage etc., and because they don't know any better, they think we must be a place like CU where they can come to for whatever.

  • That is helpful info. Thank you.

  • I think independent contractors should still have access to that information. We are consenting to them making money off us after all. They should be selling us on that service since we could be cuddling elsewhere. It only benefits them to be transparent.

  • @sagelight In any field independent contractors are “at will”. In other words a company can dispense with them without showing cause. Part and parcel of that construct is they owe the contractor nothing beyond payment and a reasonably safe work environment. Beyond that you are like a small business unto yourself so you need to be the one that needs to do the research—it is like buyer beware. After all, they are not telling you the hours to keep or making you take videos of your session to prove you are doing your job. This is just basic business law.
