An article that resonated with me...

Popped up after my own walk through the woods. Though it ended by the shore of the Puget sound here in Washington.

    The repetitive movement of walking, coupled with the slowly changing scenery, does help settle my thoughts. Dunno about any divine revelations or wisdom or gods descending or what-have-you, but a nice long walk is pretty satisfying. Good thing I like it, since it's my main method of getting around.

    So that's Puget Sound? Neat.

  • Fred Allen "I like long walks, especially when taken by people who annoy me"

  • I love walking in the woods, every day.

    I walk in the snow.
    I walk in the rain.
    I walk in the sun.
    I walk in the shade.
    I walk in the darkness.

    The sounds of birds. The colors of moss. The pleasant aroma of pine needles. Light filtering through leaves. A pond. Turtles sunning themselves on rocks. The cold air entering my nose. Thinking and not thinking.

    If you don't stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it."
    - Ferris Bueller

  • @MissAdventurous - what a beautiful peaceful view. If I was there, I'd be searching for interesting pebbles. Looks like I'd have a lot to choose from.

    @MissAdventurous This is a beautiful passage, for those who decide to take time to walk with the author through his musings

  • What a fabulous article. It is amazing especially when you're not focused on achieving some specific goal (thank you watches that track steps and make you think of that instead of the beauty around you!)

    It looks absolutely lovely up there. <3

  • I am glad you all enjoyed it.
    Sometimes it's the little reminders in life that help us keep the balance.

  • Joyce Kilmer :

    "I think that I shall never see
    A poem lovely as a tree.

    A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
    Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;

    A tree that looks at God all day,
    And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

    A tree that may in Summer wear
    A nest of robins in her hair;

    Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
    Who intimately lives with rain.

    Poems are made by fools like me,
    But only God can make a tree."

    I think that I shall never see
    A billboard lovely as a tree
    Indeed, unless the billboards fall
    I'll never see a tree at all.

    —Ogden Nash

  • And I first saw the trees!
    The Truffula trees!
    The bright-colored tufts of the Truffula trees!
    Mile after mile in the fresh morning breeze.

    --Dr. Seuss, The Lorax

  • Little pebble upon the sand
    Now you're lying here in my hand
    How many years have you been here?
    Little human upon the sand
    From where I'm lying here in your hand
    You to me are but a passing breeze

    Oh, wait. Wrong poem.
