Cuddling during this quarantine

[Deleted User]EdoubleN18sngl (deleted user)

So far most of my buddies, community friends and I have made the decision to not cuddle right now. Just wondering how others are responding to this “Self Quarantine” time??? I’m concerned the most if I were to be the one to expose my family to this virus because I went for a snuggle session. What are your thoughts? Please be respectful of other’s options even if we don’t all agree.

  • A few friends are not wanting to have contact with others but several still are . Safety first and like with anything else , use common sense and don't be impulsive .

  • I just cancelled a session...bummer
    I guess safety comes first...

  • If you did catch it, the medical authorities would most likely ask you who you have been in contact with and you would have to tell them. You and everyone you have been in contact with would need to be tested and/or quarantined. And everyone they had been in contact with since you had contact with them would need to be tested and/or quarantined. One person could infect dozens of others, that's why isolation is so important.

  • @UKGuy
Too true. The most enthusiastic enthusiasts, and the busiest pros, would be the biggest transmitters. When the situation recovers, there will be a lot of pent-up demand.

OK for those with just one regular.

Many are going virtual only. As of now this doesn't appeal to me. Unless I decide I want to try virtual (which since there is no physical contact I don't consider cuddling) it looks like I won't be doing any sessions the foreseeable future.

  • Virtual sessions...interesting...

I do not understand how virtual cuddling could possibly be fulfilling.

  • I'm going to share an opinion that was passed to me. I know, grain of salt, but fwiw, here it is. A tenant of mine (older uni student, phd program in math, professor's assistant) told me his mom is an ICU (intensive care unit) nurse in a hospital in Virginia. She's told him this is not even as bad as the flu, and that unless someone is weak or has immune system issues that it would be no different than an upper respiratory infection that your body would suffer through and beat. The student even handed me his only bottle of hand sanitizer for my decidedly more worried female friend. But I understand people's reaction whenever there is something new and unknown. Anyway thought I'd share.

  • An exclusive local cuddle-buddy arrangement with someone who has also been social-distancing for a week prior and healthy.

  • Yeah I don't see any value in virtual cuddling either... I have friends I can talk to already...
cuddling is all about physical touch. Virtual cuddling makes no sense.

  • Virtual cuddling, is to platonic cuddlers ; what platonic cuddling, is to romantic / sexual cuddlers. You can either see the other's perspective, or not.

Think of vegans and vegetarians, compared to "omnivores".

There's an old UK commercial for Skol beer, in which people who have no beer hold an empty glass, and imagine it contains beer. They describe it in detail before "taking a drink" and describing the taste.

Some people can cope with a bad situation, by imagining themselves in a "happy place". Think of the Kenny Rogers song "The Green Green Grass Of Home".

  • @AceCuddlerMike I think it's well known that for the majority of people who get COVID-19, they will survive and their symptoms will not be too terrible. The reason young and healthy people are supposed to practice social distancing is not because they are extremely likely to die if they catch COVID-19. It's because they are likely to cause the disease to spread more in general, which will cause more death and suffering in the population at large.

  • I'm in total agreement with @geoff1000, thank you for sharing. It is also just great to be able to talk to someone about something other than Coronavirus (which I know I am personally sick of talking about), and just find enjoyment in the moment with another human.

And @Melancholy, that is so great that you have people to support you during this time! There are people, unfortunately, who do not. And there are some people who find emotional benefits from cuddling as well, not just psychical. Providing space for people to still come and be unconditionally supported and heard while offering relaxation and connection is so important during a time like this when isolation really starts to kick in and normal life is so disrupted.

I hope everyone is happy and healthy during this time, please stay safe!

  • We actually haven't been quarantined in our area. And I still have to report to work everyday. I'm not panicked I'm fine with it. As far as I can tell there's still local cuddlers in this area willing to meet.

  • Virtual chat sounds like greed to me just trying to make a profit not even cuddling

    I still think COVID-19/Coronavirus is a hoax. 🤷

  • That is literally one of the most ignorant things j have seen posted and I have seen some genuine ignorance on here

  • @pmvines Agreed. It's times like this I wish we could downvote comments on this forum.

Well I'm not sick and I still wanna cuddle lol. Just wash yah hands and wash yah a$$ (a joke I came up with my friend). Stay safe people lol.
@HoldenCaulfield thanks for the video I really liked it 😂🤦🏾

  • Still cuddling here! Just practicing safe hygiene, washing my hands, brushing my teeth and flossing like always, showering, and just keeping clean and healthy. :)

  • @MemberofLDS - You win the 'your opinion doesn't change science or facts' award. This is where you may consider a walk of shame.

If not already posted elsewhere, this great site was created in December 2019 by a 17 year old that aggregates public info into a clean, clear, dashboard view on coronavirus/COVID-19.

204,405 confirmed world-wide cases, and 8,232 deceased, to date.

I work at UAB and this was just sent out yesterday . The Dr and his hoaxes , what a trickster he must be
And this man is not just a doctor, he is actually a major player in the education for the virus and advocacy for social distancing, and founded the 1917 Clinic, which is an HIV clinic that other HIV clinics model. In other words, he knows his stuff when it comes to infectious diseases.

    FWD:
    UAB Community,

Mike Saag, M.D., a physician in the UAB Division of Infectious Disease, has tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). He wishes to make his case known as an example of the COVID-19 reality and the importance of practicing aggressive social distancing. As Dr. Saag will share, he was exposed on a family visit to New York City. Dr. Saag and UAB are taking precautionary measures to promote a safe environment, and we will diligently work with health department officials to identify and notify anyone who may have been exposed.

  • Between UAB and my other hospital job , and my two free standing in center dialysis clinics , believe me , I know for a fact that this is not a hoax

  • I'll admit I was one of those that didn't take all this very seriously the 1st few months because it was mostly in China and far away from me. But as time went on and here recently my tone has changed. While I haven't gotten as extreme as others Im very cautious and believe it's far from a hoax. 4 major sports leagues wouldn't forfeit billions of dollars over hoax. Major cities wouldn't shut down and sacrifice billions of dollars over a hoax. Thousands of people dying worldwide isn't a hoax.

  • I won't be cuddling any time soon, but I'll still be around on the site. If people get in touch with me, I'll be happy to cuddle them after the crisis is over.

  • Comments are removed now? And threads as well, oh well.

The reason they are shutting things down, I’m my opinion, because people aren’t taking it serious and keeping hygiene up.

  • I don't like to politicize things like this as a virus could care less about your views. I will point out that just less than two weeks ago the Pres referred to it as the Democrats new hoax (making it all about him 🙄). I do wonder whether that statement could have potentially made people less likely to take it seriously .

  • The 2 countries who banned flights from China the first have had the best results controlling the outbreak. When it comes to viruses isolation or quarantine works the best.It was the only thing that worked to stop the spread of ebola .Singapore and Taiwan had a much lower rate of infection since they banned flights from China the first, even going against the WHO who said the ban wasn't required at that time.

  • I guess it depends on if people are being affected by it. A polar explorer walking across Antarctica solo, or someone on a round the world yacht race, or even those on the International Space Station ; won't be directly affected. We each start noticing, when people who we know, start being diagnosed.
Most disaster survivors are those who "over-reacted" when no-one else was.
