I never actually loved my job, but ive always recognized all the benefits & perks that my job brings ... they are very generous with both the perks & the benefits, so much so that ive gotten very comfortable & have reached a sense of comfort zone .... lately b.s. has been going on, not with me personally but just overall , but I stay because I know it will be hard to get the same benefits / perks & sense of job security else where.. if it were up to me I will definitely pursue business/ investing / & all the sorts but Ofcourse inorder to do so you need a good enough capital & as well willing to take risks , so I strategize at times how should I go about it but until than I stay ... what about you?

I love my job. I am not going to say that I am always happy to be at work, but I enjoy what I do so no real complaints here. Restoring works of art to their original state of glory would be my dream job.

I love that my job is cuddling. I’m entertaining the idea of possibly opening a storefront here in Florida but that will be years down the road. I used to want to be an English teacher but that changed significantly.

Deep down, I would love to be a singer. The only problem is I wouldn’t want to be told where to go, how to dance, what to sing and wear, and have my whole life planned out for me. I have an incredibly narcissistic mind and when I’m singing in front of people and they enjoy it, my ego explodes. I looooove the idea of being a star and people adoring my voice and my songs but everything else that comes with it tears that down for me.

My job is okay. It keeps me busy and I provide a necessary service that I don't mind. If the world was still the way it was when things still seemed normal I would have liked to go in the medical field.

Listening to songs I hate on loop for eight hours while dealing with people who don't wear masks, don't have enough money to pay for what they want, don't understand math, open stuff before not being able to pay for it, can't get their wastes to go in the toilet, spill things, complain about spills, complain about dirty bathrooms, do drugs in the bathrooms, do drug deals in the bathrooms, demand to see my ID when I ask for theirs so I can sell them the death sticks they want (but will probably only be able to pay for after they've gone out to their truck six times to dig coins out of the cracks in the seat), all while being forbidden to say a word to the maskless, required to clean up after everyone, leave the store spotless and well-stocked at the end of my shift, while being sure to have an exact count of every penny in my drawer (it had better be no less than $75 and definitely not $76) at whatever point around midnight corporate decides to restart the till tonight, but definitely not stopping business at any point....

Oh, I love it. My job's just the best. Can't beat customer service at an all-night gas station for human dignity, respect, and—most important of all—fun.

I’ve been studying the local industry for several years . Every so often a waterman falls overboard and drowns leaving a widow to sell the boat , gear , and liscenses.

I am disabled so I don’t work but I really wish I could does that count

I'm a software engineer, and deep down I do love my job because it's a type of job where I make (or help make) things (software/apps) that are useful to people. There can be a lot of office/company/team politics and red tape sometimes, but I think those are side issues in the industry, not related to software development itself.

I’m a department/team lead. It’s the highest position I’ve ever held anywhere I’ve ever worked. I believe my autism makes it harder for me to do this position than it would be for someone who doesn’t have my condition. But I do enjoy the challenges😊 My parents have long been supervisors where they work...my turn now 😎 Like parents, like son🙂 I’ll never quit no matter how hard it is or how bad I get treated. Last thing I want is returning to living off disability indefinitely until I can get another job then owing back hundreds in so-called “overpayments”.

I supervise people but only supervisors above me have hire/fire and write-up authority. My entire team loathes me because they deny my autism. They think I’m just rude or egotistical...or something. I’ve been there almost three years counting my temp time and hired time combined. While I was a temp, I was still friends with an X who jumped to a conclusion that I hated my job and had an extremely angry aura when I told her how my relationships with coworkers and supervisors were going at that time. Her manic episodes have been lasting longer, occurring more frequently, and presented more severely since we broke up five and a half years ago, particularly in the past three years.

I loathe several interdepartmental coworkers for their ghetto language and dress habits. Inside my department I don’t loathe anyone, but the entire department loathes me and want me written up or fired. I think they all know they can’t talk s*** about me in Spanish and expect me not to understand because I WILL. So instead they exploit my SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) hearing loss by lowering their voices when background noise is present so that I only knew they were making sound but didn’t catch enough of what they said to know they’re talking s***.

I refuse to ever disclose to an employer that I stopped believing in God 15 years ago no matter how many hyper-religious coworkers I cannot avoid in the carrying out of my normally assigned duties. At least three times the convo went like this:

Coworker: Do you believe in God?
Me: I refuse to answer that question. I’m NOT saying yes NOR am I saying no.

These days I can’t seem to find the Examiner.com article I read years ago stating someone got fired from a job for merely disclosing they were an atheist. I’m NEVER taking that chance considering I am already 37 years old and only have 4.5 years of work experience. Employers just wonder when they see the dates on my résumé, “What have you done with your life, sir?!?!?!?” I’ve had autism...that’s what I’ve done with my life! I was born with this condition and will die with it. Per-i-od!

If my team is able to professionally get along during work hours while sharing their personal lives with each other outside of work constantly, I won’t criticize them for it. But I keep my personal life and work life separate as I feel it’s the more professional thing to do. Due to my autism it took me decades to understand that it is possible to have more than one relationship at a time with the same person. I’d rather treat my team as the subordinates they are to me during work hours and not try to simultaneously be close friends with them outside of work. As soon as I would start trying to be the “buddy boss” they might be wanting, watch...they’d probably go to HR and say I’m “creating a hostile work environment” because they can’t even exchange pleasantries without thanking God and close friends of mine all get confirmation from me myself that I don’t share their beliefs. That’s why I CAN’T be their friend and lead/boss at the same time.

There have been times when two or more of my team members disagree about something non-work-related and tell each other way out loud in English, [sic] “You’re not my friend no more!” Seriously...I don’t wanna be on the receiving end of that. I’ve been much lonelier during the pandemic than I ever was leading up to it, and not being able to avoid someone who has revoked all their trust from me would just crush me. The pandemic has completely prevented me from forging new friendships in my chosen area. Until gatherings are no longer prohibited in public spaces, I can’t meet anyone who is local to my chosen area and plans to remain so indefinitely unless an enthusiast on CC would either answer one of the messages I already sent or initiate contact with me first. Elsewhere online I have suffered more than my fair share of cyberbullying, especially on the little blue F. I finally decided to #DeleteFacebook in April of 2018 and have been so much happier without it!

@APV Thanks for telling us your story. It's interesting because most of your post is about the bad things of your job, but right at the start you say you enjoy it, even with a smily face! 😀

That must be so difficult, I mean mostly for you but also for them as well. It's a thing that just doesn't happen here in the UK: there is the occasional person that attempts to deny autism, but only if they've been spending too much time in the grubbier corners of facebook. For example, my primary (elementry) school in the 1970s was just an ordinary local inner-city school, but we had a specialist department for children diagnosed with autism.

@CuddleDuncan My post probably turned out the way it did because I am among the majority of burnt-out workers in my chosen area. Combine that with the fact I never really talk to anyone outside of my employer and it just makes me feel impossibly pressured to say many positive things about my job. I might have had more positive things to say if I had other interactions to balance things out.

I certainly enjoy not being 100% stuck in my home 24/7 as I live in a little tiny 20’ travel trailer with wheels that I rent rather than own. Plus I enjoy having enough money to keep a rainy day fund and go out as much as I can during the pandemic (StretchLab and renting a private hot tub). When I lived off disability for 14 years I had to do without nearly everything in existence that costs money because US disability checks are so little money they just cover your housing, utilities and transportation costs. Not even food...there’s a separate program for that.

As a fashion designer from NYC I downshifted to teaching art in SF a few years ago till March. Since the quarantine I moved onto Art Direction working with individual artists in their medium of expertise and applying my extensive art teaching training in occasional life coaching required on the job. Observing my clients réalise their talents and applying them
successfully In their art-making makes me truly happy. I love what I do so much because I carved my perfect niche based on my true sense of life purpose. Wish everyone so as well ✨

I enjoy my job as a professional cuddler. helping people become their healthiest happiest selves. What I don’t appreciate is cuddle clients showing up to their appointment and then attempting to violate the terms & conditions and violating my personal physical boundaries. like you would never walk into a psychotherapist’s office and try to inappropriately touch them would you?

@APV yes I guessed you were letting off steam a little! Really pleased that you have that job. If you've been there several years you must be doing it right too, in spite of the difficulties.

Pandemic won't last for ever. I know we all know that but it's worth reminding ourselves occasionally.

With that said I would much rather be helping animals. However unfortunately it does not pay as much.

@CuddleDuncan Agreed. I do receive plenty of grateful compliments from my supervisors regularly. Until this job, I had never kept any previous job long enough to have a performance review. I was nervous at my first performance review this past year and will be at my next one unless my team starts respecting me more than they ever have (unlikely). On Christmas Eve 2020 I worked a half day and the owner of the company stopped by my department for the first time since I’ve been working there to thank everyone for their top-notch attendance, myself included.

I love my job so much it’s honestly a little unfair. I had 2 teenage girls stop me today and ask me about my job and I couldn’t stop smiling it made me so happy to tell them how happy my career makes me.

Edit: while this statement would be equally true if asked about cuddling it was made in reference to being a flight attendant 😊

I've only had one job that I absolutely loved. That being when I worked as a haunter/scare actor. Every other job has been either "meh" or I grew to strongly dislike.

I would love to be able to make a living as a stand up comedian.
