Have you ever come across a user on this site that copy and pasted your profile before?

I'm baffled at how many profiles I've come across that have done just that in the past with mine, even clients have sent me profile links before when they were browsing being confused as to why they felt they had read it before then realized it was mine.

so I had to reach out to make sure I'm not crazy.

I even put a little note asking to not do it
So I'm assuming they don't know how to read or just choose to be disrespectful, which is disappointing to say the least.

    Probably scammers who are too lazy to write a convincing profile so they search for one that is well written and copy it hoping nobody would notice.

    Well when they have karma reviews, ect. I guess it's a whole different type of scamming, just feels so dishonest for everyone.

    Is it possible for the website programer to make it so you are not allowed to use the copy and past function on people's profiles? That would make them at least have to type it out

    Or maybe once you make your profile it converts to and shows up as a picture instead of text...maybe even with a watermark 💧

    @craM - That would not be possible because copy and pasting is a feature built into whatever device their using (whether it being their phone, tablet, or computer).

    Edit: Okay your last paragraph kinda make sense. Don't know how easy that would be and it wouldn't deter a determined plagiariser.

    As a pro, if they copy pasted it - They just reverse engineered the process to fast track results for themselves and generate revenue from their product (the cuddles they offer).

    I wouldn’t call it a scam. Lack of efforts - definitely.

    How about a plagiarism checker that compares profiles to others and looks for similarity? Colleges use one.

    You are not crazy, it does happen. Always Report them.

    Most will be scammers. Some will be lazy and unprofessional but ultimately non-criminal cuddlers.

    If they cannot put enough effort to putting an appropriate, self written profile themselves, I would not trust to cuddle up to them.

    Just saying. It weirds me out.

    this just happened to me yesterday! It’s so frustrating because I worked so hard on my profile and these newbies just pop up and take it from me. The one girl from yesterday is in my other area, Toronto. And we don’t have a lot of pros in Toronto so if people don’t notice she just signed up this week, it could look fake and confusing for them to see which one of us was the genuine one in their profile.

    You don’t know English well enough to string along some sentences that explain who you are and what you’re about? How unbelievably sad...and lazy...

    @Sheena123 girllllllllll. I feel you. It's so much more than just someones words they're taking, you're taking who I am as a person and trying to replicate that. It's as offensive of an "innocent" act as it gets to market yourself as one person, but clearly you are not them, in a community that is about trust and shared space.

    There is no practical way to prevent copy/paste. It is trivial to sidestep.

    However, a plagiarism detector--perhaps as an admin tool--is a really good idea.

    I just went to your profile. It is very unique and why someone would want to copy does show laziness. They should show their uniqueness. People decide to cuddle with a pro based partly on their profile, so it isn’t fair to the client at all. They will get a completely different person than they read about.

    @MissAdventurous it feels like it would have been less work for them to come up with a more original profile even if it’s not as detailed than to search the cuddleverse and blatantly plagiarize someone else’s word for word .

    @Tranquilescape : I agree with your premise. But wouldn’t the client have to chat a bit and get to know that person prior to booking a session ?

    This also brings in an interesting topic -
    I mean this website is in itself is a free economy for clients and pros alike. Regulated yet unregulated.

    what do moderators think on plagiarism - Is it Great Value or leads to a Domino effect ?? 😜

    Had this happen to me recently.
    She had the audacity to keep in the line about my recent hair color change. She's as spicy as mayo. Girl stop with that nonsense. 😂

    While she wasn't local she was in one of the other cities I work in frequently.

    One of my clients pointed it out to me who was going to book her until he recognized my writing style and realized she's a thief.

    I may be the minority here who doesn't find it flattering. It shows lack of integrity. Its lazy behavior I'd expect from a 12 year old kid. Not grown women looking to be successful and show genuine kindness unto others.

    This is nothing to do with flattery and it's way above mere plagiarism. It's copyright infringement and, arguably, passing off. These are civil offences (not criminal) so it's ultimately a matter for the courts.

    If you see copied profile, Report it at once.

    @Envie - Happens all the time in the professional industry. College students and journalists plagiarize because they are too lazy to do any of the work themselves. It is a serious offense that gets people kicked out of college or fired from their job, so it shouldn't be tolerated here.

    If you add a strong dose of crazy into your profile, like I have, people won’t copy as much (probably). But it will be much harder to get clients. 🐒🐒🐒🐒

    @Mike403 but academia has clear consequences listed for plagiarism. Corporations have NDA and IP. I’m not sure about journalism as I’ve never been involved in that sphere. But I’m guessing they’ll have some sort of registered listings.

    In this case bringing it to moderators attention makes sense. But IF the website doesn’t list this behavior specifically as an offense - then that person “copying“ is acting within the bounds of the websites policies. So...

    Lack of courtesy and laziness - YES.
    Offense - NO.

    Thoughts ?

    @pmvines technically it probably should.... but I'm not going to delve through the terms and conditions. Many courts would take a common sense view on that point if they could.

    @pmvines Yes it has to be copyrighted. In addition, this is a very small matter legally and would be an entire waste of money to pursue it. But on the personal and ethical scale it is classless, spineless, lazy and totally disrespectful. I have seen this kind of thing before and I send DMs to the culprits calling them out. Other than reporting them it is about all you can do.

    Looking through T&C which we agreed on signing, content posted in public areas should not be considered proprietary or confidential or private and is readily accessible to public.

    Profiles constitute public areas. Thereby being copied..

    Lazy - Yes
    Offense - No

    @TheGMan - This has nothing to do with privacy. It's defrauding others but taking somebody else's words and passing them off as your own.

    The mods have told us to report these profiles.
    It's clearly not kosher in the eyes of admin to steal other people's work.

    I highly doubt my thief from Cincy took the time to read the outlined TOS before she stole my profile. She can't be assed to write about herself in her own words, let alone read.
