Canβt wait to pay more taxes. Yay π
@xelda I agree, and they can disagree as long as it is a civil disagreement. If one is engaged and involved with their civic responsibilities, sooner or later we will all be on the side unhappy with the result. They still have a voice and I will listen as long as it is done with civility and not hate.
Rhetorical, but can the collective "you" all get along for ONE day? No. No you can't. If there is some inherent urge to argue, please consider imposing your own forum timeout before I do.
Get on topic, stay on topic. Lay off the personal attacks. Don't bait.
@samsarasota Technically, if everything stayed the same, that celebrated tax cut was going to increase the overall tax each year. But yes, we will be paying more taxes because of Covid and the relief packages. But the relief was badly needed.
Thank you Sid. This thread imo was started as a way to indrectly stir up trouble and i believe in freedom of speech so it can stand but it would be nice if people on here stopped being such troublemakers but i suppose that is probably unlikely.
Your opinion is noted, but your statements are also a form of baiting. The OP was making a civic declaration, and did not tag one political party or another. There is freedom of speech, and there is freedom to respond - or not. As in all cases, if one doesn't want to read a thread or agree with their contents, move on.[-Sid]
@MidnightOwl Touche. And that guy calls you a troll when this thread itself is a troll.
@JasonCuddles yes it does because it is really a one party system made up of poitical elites who only care about money and their own power. The peasants be d*mned. However some on here happily eat up the idea of being enslaved to the power brokers.
It is a great relief for the entire world. I'm happy with the changes already being made and it's nice to see something good happen with the year we've all had.
@Alison08: Agreed.
It was a good Inauguration Day! I'm pleased everything went so well.
Am I... the OP... being compared to Princess Fiona?! This is such an honor! Thank you!!! π€
βI think we gave the person enough attention & drama which they were really seekingβ
You better not be referring to me, @introvme
β...it's inherently divisive whether or not they speak up.β
Exactly. For the record, I did not like any candidates, and I still find the topic of politics divisive and ingratiating and quite unbecoming to wanting to engage with anyone here who is acting like our new president is Jesus Christ coming to rescue us all. While the original post was positively intended, it isnβt positive to anyone who is unhappy about our nation being torn to shreds. I am one of those people - and I am not alone. I also was not the only commenter of dissenting discourse.
We have the right to talk about whatever we want within reason. Yes. We do not have the right to attack people and call someone asking others to stop creating spaces that will inevitably lead to fighting βtrolling.β What I not so eloquently was attempting to say in my original comment is that if we want a peaceful space to engage with others free from the stress and stains of the world, which are highly political, bringing up politics essentially eliminates that possibility. And the way this thread went demonstrates my point.
@Sideon , I was tagged after announcing my departure.... can I respond? π you already know Iβm about to FLAME someone π₯ π₯ π₯
As @quixotic_life said - you already knew the answer in asking. [-Sid]
@TheMidnightOwl ~ I like how you framed that!
@introvme ~ If you have to ask a mod ... You already know the answer.
Well said, @TheMidnightOwl . I love talking politics but I respect that some people don't. An opinion that you're sick of seeing discussions about politics everywhere is valid. I didn't interpret it as trolling or drama seeking in the least.
I don't like football, but I don't tell people to stop talking about it.
Ok true @quixotic_life ... but why are they still in the rain when they donβt like the rain & it triggers them & have nowhere to go, no medical emergency, no supplies or food to buy or nowhere to be? π its like, βhey, look ... thereβs a rainstorm outside & I hate itβ βhmmm π€ let me go outside right in the center of itβ ππ but no, seriously! I want everyone to know that I dislike swimming pools / I hate swimming πββοΈ/ & absolutely hate diving ... π but since I have the whole crowds attention , & Iβm in my swimming gear, check out this trick π π ππ€£π€£
Two points for a guy in a speedo. Negative 10 for baiting. [-Sid]
@Mike403, @introvme: You're both saying that when people see stuff they don't like in the forums, they should just ignore it and move on.
But both of you saw a comment you didn't like on the forums, and proceeded to make a bigger deal of it than @TheMidnightOwl made about her dislike of this thread.
Is this just a rule for other people to follow?
@squeakytoy ~ Good question/point.
In fact there are multiple good points being made.
Also, I'm not sure if it's known, but there's an, "I was offended" thread where a lot of what's here could have been appropriately posted too. Just a thought...
@squeakytoy - If she started her own thread and said "political posts are crap", I would have left it alone.
I don't care what anyone talks about on the forums. I just found it a little rude to hijack somebody else's thread because you don't like the topic.
^!
Folks. You can all agree to disagree in another thread. This is done. [-Sid]
