I would require everyone to have photos of themselves, especially their face and to go through a verification process

But then the site would probably die... idealism doesn’t work

  • @ChibiShema some people need their anonymity for various reasons. But I do agree with you on a better verification process. I wish we could make it harder for people to sign up again after getting banned for nefarious things.

@Sheena123 I keep my anonymity, obviously. And I have my reasons. I just think it is a terrible practice when you are trying to make cuddle friends. I will be the kettle and the pot on this one.

I still think we should be able to know who we are talking.

  • @ChibiShema oh for sure. I would love to know who I’m talking to. I won’t meet with them unless I have a pic, but until we physically meet up, I don’t mind that they don’t have a pic ā˜ŗļø

  • I like how the message box lights up in red color when messaged. It's quite catchy.

@ChibiShema I don't think that not having up photos as a non pro is too big of a deal for a non-pro, because you can always exchange photos when you message. If the other person refuses to send a recent photo, you can just stop talking to them.

Having a verification process would be helpful, and would allow:

    A) Undesirables to be permanently banned
    B) deter that kind of behavior to begin with
    C) Increase the safety factor

Some downsides to verification are that I can see it being a headache for the site moderators, as well as some sort of possible legal liability, not sure if they want to do deal with all that. It might also increase fees, depending on the degree of verification. A simple two step process requiring cell number would be a good and easy start, though.

  • I would say this much, CC is definitely the best out of all the platforms available - by far! & I think the thread is a big asset on this platform ... I would definitely try & develop it more , it’ll definitely improve & grow the community ... one thing I noticed is that CC is not really promoted, we don’t know about it for the most part unless we seek it out, but I know that this is a positive in terms of keeping a crowd whose intentions aren’t purely cuddling away... also, I had no idea there was a minimum for pro cuddlers, I believe there shouldn’t be a minimum nor a maximum ... it should be completely free market ... developing the thread / site functionality / free market for pro cuddlers where they could set their own minimums-maximums & verification process to deter fakes away would be awesome changes.

  • @sunnysideup you definitely gave really good pros & cons to site verifications... I agree with them all, if I was to make a final decision based on what you shared about it all I will choose not to do it, thanks for your input.

  • @sunnysideup How would ā€œundesirablesā€ be identified? What do you classify as an ā€œundesirableā€? And undesirable is a very unfortunate choice of words for a ā€œso calledā€ community. I do not hear a word about education whatsoever. Why not force new accounts to watch videos before becoming full members? And I would have to see more particulars to make the leap to ā€œsafer.ā€ Anyone can lie through a verification process.

@Funcartel In truth, I'm not exactly sure how an undesireable would be identified, but based on what I hear on the forums there are definitely guys that creep and harass women, and there are pros that offer services that CC is not supposed to provide. So I think there is a population, or set of behaviors rather, than most of us on CC would rather not have on here. But since I'm not exactly sure how to define it, I factored that into the downsides of it being a headache for the moderators.

  • @sunnysideup I know all that, but I would hate to see possibly solid prospective members blocked from joining versus one bad apple being caught. I think most bad apples are caught early on through reporting, so I still do not see where there is a causal relationship with increased verification until I see real details. Not saying it can’t happen, but sometimes good ideas go wrong and hurt the things that it was meant to protect.

  • I feel like this site would attract more female enthusiasts if profile pictures and verification were required for everyone.

  • That’s true @ChibiShema but I agree with the points @sunnysideup brought up

  • edited December 2020

I honestly don’t think anyone wants to put a photo up on this site. But how else will the women get men to message them if they don’t show their face on their profile? I don’t message blank profiles. But I also have the luxury of paying for platonic cuddles with the opposite sex.

  • @ChibiShema I do not agree. I would be off this site in a heartbeat if I had to post a pic. I do not post my pic ANYWHERE on the internet. And I know I am not alone. Besides, so many of these ā€œenthusiastsā€ go pro that pics do not mean a thing. I send my pic in my first message to everyone so I don’t feel as though I need to post my pic for the world to see.

I think the bottom line that I am coming to, is that this arrangement is primarily for men who want to pay women for platonic cuddles. There isn’t room for men without money and there isn’t much room for female enthusiast unless they want to cater to these men that are used to paying for what they want. I’m disappointed by this. I thought there would be 4 proper categories of male pro/male enthusiast and female pro/female enthusiast and that everyone could have their needs met. I’m disappointed.

    How can this be solved?

  • It won’t be because people are all different. Every single person o have cuddled on this site-well over 100–have been different. It is what it is—just like the world.

    How can this be solved?

There are some more ideas at the top of the GREEN PAPER thread.

    https://www.cuddlecomfort.com/forum/discussion/9433/green-paper-how-to-fix-our-problems

We can't fix society's problems, but we can increase the number of female enthusiasts on this site, and improve their experience.

    How can this be solved?

    It can't be.

  • How can this be solved?

    It can't be.

Sure it can. There is a lot of intelligence, skill, passion and care on this forum. We can do anything we want.

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."

    • Margaret Mead

Nope, me neither, but she's right.

  • @CuddleDuncan you state that we can increase the number of female enthusiasts on this site.

    How?

In my short time here, I have already seen female enthusiasts bullied off the site by the men that demand too much and then are mean when the women don’t comply.

  • @ChibiShema
I would guess that requiring verification would change the ratio. More female enthusiasts would be more comfortable with staying and/or registering, and the increased difficulty of setting up an enthusiast account should reduce the overall number enthusiasts thereby improving the ratio.

  • @sunnysideup thank you for giving my perspective a chance. I know I’m new here.

It speaks great volumes of a person who can look at something in a different light. I really appreciate your words.

  • Also... for me personally, I would be happy to pay a fee, become verified, post proper photos of myself and a write a polite profile if this were the standard.

I appreciate that I can just hire a female to hold me, but I would like to see this cuddle community evolve to where more people can be included.

  • @ChibiShema
    @sunnysideup

We are working on ideas in that thread I mentioned a couple of posts ago, and I would love you to contribute to that. There have already been some ideas around verification which are summarised in that thread.

On a simplistic level, we already have a reasonable number of enthusiast women joining the site. Many of them are driven away quite quickly by inappropriate messages, too many ordinary messages, or bullying on this forum.

If we can improve the retention rate we will start a virtuous circle: the more women there are, the fewer messages and inappropriate comments they will each receive. Thus more will stay, and so on. If more stay because they are having good experiences, then there will more word of mouth recommendations, so more women will join. And so on, again.

More women in general means more women professionals, which in turn means that areas currently not well covered by pros will become better covered. This means more revenue for the site, some of which can be ploughed back into attracting more women .... I think you can probably see where this is going.

Yes of course it's a complex matter (more women will presumably result in more men sooner or later) but it's a start.

  • Get rid of fake and super old unused profiles.

    @CuddleDuncan

On a simplistic level, we already have a reasonable number of enthusiast women joining the site.

I am extremely doubtful that this is the case. Do you have any data to back this up? You've latched onto the idea that plenty of enthusiast women join, but they are all chased off by hordes of awful men. I strongly suspect that in fact, very few women join to begin with.

  • I certainly would not say plenty. All I mean by reasonable is something we can use as a starting point: in other words something which is statistically useful. And we know there is a useful retention rate because there are some women here.

If, over the course of time, we can do three things which each improve retention rate by 10%, then we will have improved the rate overall by 1/3. And I would class 133% of 'not enough' as 'a step in the right direction'.
