When your hair gets annoying/in your face, what do you do?

edited December 2020 in General

I am someone that loves long hair, and bangs are something that really impress me. But when they get annoying or in your face, what do you tend to do? Do you do the "flip" (head twitch), blow your hair out of your face, push away with your hands, or are you just used to it? Check for what you do most often. Would love to find out!

I shriek, run around in circles, and attack in every direction—as if I'm being assailed by invisible enemies.

  • I used to just keep it in a pony tail or braided.

I've never had very long hair, but sometimes I've been almost tempted to grow a man bun, just because :p

  • When cuddling... The first couple times I just move it out of the way. But by the third or fourth time, I tend to give it a stern, yet exasperated, talking to as I gather it up and try to shove it all out of the way (like stuffing it between the pillow and the wall). It's just annoying and sometimes needs a time-out.
And I get that it just wants to join the party. But once it starts being like a sloppy drunk all over the place, and getting all up in my face repeatedly, it's time for full on restraints! At least until things calm down/the party is over.

  • @quixotic_life , thats fantastic response. I keep re-reading what you wrote and keep cracking up!

I just gather their hair all in my hand and hold it back giving It a firm and steady tug . That usually does the trick

  • Peoples hair in my face doesn't bother me at all. Especially if it smells good. I actually enjoy it. :)

  • Perhaps switch to the Sinead O’Conner type.

  • Omg I think I have a hair issue😊😊😊

Cut it. Can't stand my own hair touching me.

  • I flip it the bird or if I get annoyed enough I'll just start headbanging until it's ALL over the place!

    @pmvines yes please lol

  • wish I had that problem

Lol @pmvines, I like having my hair pulled like @verona but I thought we we’re supposed to keep it platonic? 😂

  • edited December 2020

Hey if it STOPS at hair pulling it's still technically platonic.

Heck you can have a platonic fist fight if you do it right, mike from my old anger management class and I used to have one every friday night.
15 years later and mike and I are still best bros lol

  • Thanks @OhioMike ~ and it's all true! 🤣

@pmvines ~ Yep! Another's hand(s) can for sure work an adequate hair restraint! 💆‍♀️

@NightShift39 ~ Ykkes! An affectionate or intimate fist fight doesn't seem like an actual thing... sure there's platonic wrestling... but platonic fist fighting??? 🤔

  • @quixotic_life Well if it's done completely without anger or ill intent, is between friends, sticks to the boundries agreed upon, both parties consent to and ENJOY it, it forms or strengthens bonds and offers a safe, legal release of stress, tension and most of the same chemicals that make cuddling so much fun and even fills a certain portion of interpersonal touch can one really say it's not a platonic fist fight?

@NightShift39: Huh. Never thought of sparring that way before, but yup—that checks out. I guess I have platonic fist fights. Who knew?

  • @NightShift39 one of my good friends and I as grade schoolers would beat each other bloody while my brother refereed. And in high school there was a back yard fight club kinda thing but with gloves , which got pretty ruthless from time to time but folks always stopped before getting toi out of hand and there was always respect for the people you were fighting . Seems pretty silly and just too much testosterone floating around looking back at it.

  • @DarrenWalker lol yeah I figured it out when I realized I got way more into sparring sessions with certain people.

@pmvines Doesnt seem that silly to me, but I've always been a bottle things up till they explode type. Finding a safe, controlled outlet for that just seems like prudent planning to me. (It also cut down on how many times I needed to patch the walls lol)

Its always nice to find people who get my twisted view of things :) thrash on my fellow primates.

@pmvines you just broke the first rule of Fight Club! 🤣

@NightShift39 Tyler Durden's going to whup his ass.

  • Lmao I volunteer as tribute to take his place!!! For uh reasons....

  • @BuggleBear ut oh you are right😧

with a fringe you can only brush them to the side with your hands. with side bangs you can do essentially anything to get them out of your face. Me, I just twitch spastically until my head explodes in a plume of smoke like what you’d see in a cartoon.... true story.

  • I'm not entirely sure, I'm still learning. Mostly brush it away with my hands I think. This year is the first time I've ever been able to have hair long enough to be a thing. Thanks, covid! :)

  • Does not apply. hahaha

  • I just tie it up with a scrunchy. That usually works very well.
