Best pizza toppings and why 🧐

Alright, look. I’m gonna go with the classic- the one and only- pepperoni. I know some see it as basic, but pepperoni has been complementing our beloved concoction of bread, cheese, and sauce for generations. It doesn't make the pizza too filling, as it adds a very delicious complementary flavor. If you have a pizza party, pepperoni is the safest choice after cheese without a doubt.

Sand. It adds a unique texture.

In all seriousness: my favorite topping is feta cheese.

  • Sausage and hot sauce

Plain .... , just a regular slice with sauce & cheese will do 😋

Pepperoni for sure. Italian sausage is a very nice companion.

  • Pineapple & Feta

    Personally, I like mushrooms.

Edit: Probably because I'm vitamin D deficient and my body's trying to get me to eat anything that seems even vaguely like it might help. Ah, photosensitivity. Sure makes mushrooms taste good, though!

BBQ chicken pizza with onions but also just a mushroom pizza with extra cheese.

  • A garbage pizza---pretty much everything on it.

  • @quixotic_life so glad to see that answer I totally forgot to ask that before deciding we were friends that coulda been bad ;)

  • @NightShift39 ~ lol ~ There are probably a few others who feel the same way!!

  • Shhhhh we dont want to upset the anti pineapple on pizza heathens ;)

  • @quixotic_life - How can you ruin a perfectly good pizza like that? :P

  • See told you upset heathens ^^^^

I like most toppings, but my go to is Pepperonis and sausage. BUT... I prefer my time on top of the pizza, not mixed in with the cheese. Gimme a good ole foldable NY/NJ pizza with crispy pepperoni italian sausage and extra cheese. NOT one of these fake, "I'm a midwesterner who thinks they know NY/NJ pizzas" deal.

And don't even get me started on "NY cheesecakes" made by midwesterners....

  • [cries in lactose intolerant]

  • I like mines topped with fresh basil, also tomato slices. I love mushrooms, sometimes I'll do pepperoni if I'm in the mood.

I like to keep it simple: a cheese pizza. Nothing beats a regular cheese pizza. The original.

  • I have gotten to where I enjoy no marinara . I like an olive oil base or garlic parmesan . Its just hard sometimes to find a good marinara sauce that's not too sweet or too bitter, plus good old heartburn

  • Order one large pepperoni lovers pizza from your local delivery chain

    While you are waiting

    Preheat broiler
In a large frying pan add:
    4 Tbls olive oil
    4 oz portabella shrooms
6 cloves garlic peeled and chopped
1/2 medium size yellow onion minced
    1 green bell pepper diced
4 links sweet Italian sausage chopped
    1 Tbls anchovy paste

    Sauté above over medium heat

While that is one the fire grate:

1 cup fontina cheese large holes
1/2 wedge each Parmesan and Romano cheeses fine holes

By now the pizza has arrived

Toss sautéed shrooms sausage etc mixture over pizza

    Sprinkle with cheeses

    Top with oregano

    Blast under broiler 2o seconds

    Serve

  • I couldn’t pick just one ! I would have to say tho , I always get white pizza , with mushrooms and black olives and sometimes tomato , it’s sooo 😋😋 I could seriously eat it everyday

  • What I really like is a good amount of sauce. For me a good pizza needs a good amount of (good) sauce.

Black olives, onions, and bell peppers. sometimes I’ll get crazy and toss some pineapple on there.

I recently discovered artichokes on pizza. total. freakin. game changer.

  • In central Ohio there is a small pizza chain and they make a BLT pizza Just like the sandwich. It’s amazing!

  • @JasonCuddles Yes, too many pizzas are dry to the bone.

@sage_wisdom funny you mention that, there’s a place here in nyc which started out several years ago called artichoke pizza .... I’m personally a traditionalist when it comes to food but I tell you what, it was a complete success & now the place expanded to 5 other places including New Jersey ... the original location gets packed with long lines outside & it is a go to spot especially for the club / bar scene ...

Mushrooms or diced tomatoes. They are both good at adding a nice texture and flavor to a pizza.

@introvme that looks like Chicago deep dish. that crust though. I love traditional New York style crust.

  • @sage_wisdom i 2nd everything you said!
