Currently grieving the loss of a very close friend of mine.

So this weekend, I found out that a very close friend of mine passed away. We don’t know what killed him. But it really came as a shock. And I am taking it rather hard. Any words of support are encouraging.
Also, if I cuddled with you and if I need to cry would you be open to that?

  • Sorry to hear that @Andy1996 ~ I hope you're able to find some support and can grieve as needed.
    (((hugs)))

  • I just messaged a cuddler that I am supposed to meet with and asked her if it would be OK if I could cry during the session.

My condolences. I hope you are able to heal and regain a sense of normalcy that was taken from your life. People aren’t meant to be forever. they find you when you need someone to fill the empty spaces in your heart. then when you are strong enough to carry on on your own they take flight. you are stronger than you know. remember all that your friend taught you. and just as importantly hold on to those happy memories.

  • I'm sorry to hear. My condolences to you. I think it's definitely okay to cry during a cuddle.

  • What @FlyingToaster said. Crying in a cuddle is common. What happens when a baby cries and you're not sure what's wrong? You pick it up and cuddle. Nothing more natural.

Grief is healthy. Let the tears come.

  • So sorry to hear that. Keep a space in your heart for that person, if so, then a little part of him/her will always be with you !!!!!. For me, that does help, I always think about the good times we had together, NOT the day that they passed away. It's not easy, but time will help. Take Care,

  • I'm sorry. 😔
I lost my best friend, my mentor and world in April to a kayak drowning accident.

It took me months to feel a sense of normalcy yet, I still cry.

You will too. It's perfectly normal. Any cuddler with a sense of empathy will not care if you cry during a session.

  • Hello Andy. My condolences on your loss. It must be hard. Especially since you are unsure of the cause. Crying is a natural and healthy expression of human emotion. I am sure you can find people on here who understand cuddling and crying sometimes go hand in hand.

  • I'm very sorry for your loss, and you could totally cry if we cuddled, some times you just need to let it out and where better than the safe accepting space of a cuddle.

    My condolences😔
Being self aware and communicating what you need is a good sign of your mental health. Keep in mind you have a right to feel the way you want. There is no right way except what is right for you and your health.

  • @Envie my best friend died of cancer nearly 30 years ago. Occasionally, while walking down the street or ironing a shirt, I am hit by a wave of sadness. I don't cry, but if I was the crying type I would. Grief never totally disappears. You never forget the people that really matter.

  • Thank you all so much. I actually spoke to a cuddler that I am supposed to meet with and she is totally fine with me crying

  • You are welcome. It is healthy to communicate your emotions with willing listeners. Thank you for trusting us enough to open up with your feelings.

  • All of the people I have met either in person or on this site or absolutely amazing.

  • @CuddleDuncan

It's beautiful how something as simple as a smell, sight, sound or act can make us remember them.
It was incredibly painful at first but over time those sudden memories make me appreciate the time I did have with him and I feel less sadness.

  • Sorry for your loss. 💔

I often cry during a cuddle. It can seem like there is no particular reason at the time, but it makes sense when I think about how much of my life is spent holding things together, being independent, facing harsh realities of life... then experiencing a sense of safety with another human who is holding me with comfort and unconditional positive regard. It feels like a wash of relief-joy-grief.

When there is a reason to cry, like you have, I definitely like to be held while I let myself fall apart.
