@introvme I hope this doesn't come across as too harsh, but instead of laughing at a group of people, why not try to understand why they did a particular thing? The real reason why you think it's funny is because you don't actually comprehend what happened.

Corporate welfare is very real. These rich corporations with record profits have such poor morals that they take money from people who are barely getting by. And by corporations I mean the few people at the top who run them who give themselves hundreds of millions of dollars. Trickle up economics at its finest. What scum.

@introvme Some people were upset that Bernie endorsed Hillary after they feel that the DNC somehow screwed Bernie over. Some were so upset they voted for Trump against their own party to shake things up.
That, and I think many people get a knee-jerk reaction when they hear socialism for whatever reason.
@sunnysideup: Well, the direction in which one's knee jerks also makes a difference.
But really. Most people who voted did vote for Hillary. It's just that, you know, the will of the people doesn't actually matter as much as where they happen to live in the country (and whether their electors do what they're supposed to).
Does anybody think that there is a realistic chance of the US binning the Electoral College - which was a perfectly reasonable system when it was invented - and changing to a simple first-past-the-post or other voting system?
I'm not asking whether you think it would be a good idea. I'm asking for a probability of it happening in the next ten years.
@CuddleDuncan: Wellll... I'm a heavily pessimistic type in certain areas, so I'm inclined to say "no." But I'll readily admit I don't actually know enough about the things that would affect that decision to make any kind of information-based statement one way or the other.
Does anyone else here have more political knowledge than me? (I ask, as if it's difficult.) I'd be pretty dang interested in an informed guess, too.
@sunnysideup - I was one of them that was upset, but I didn’t vote for Trump out of anger, what I did last time & this time was write Bernie in, my moral compass or mind, values does not allow me to vote on anybody knowing that they’re in the pockets of lobbyist - I just can’t, I know exactly who would be running the country and who legislation will favor.
As far as the electoral college - I highly doubt it’ll happen in the next 10 years , & at the same time I think it is very possible it’ll happen in the next 10 years lol, it all depends on 1 specific day & thats 5 days from today - January 6
The proper way to get rid of the Electoral College is by Constitutional Amendment, and that requires ratification by the States. I think it needs about 38 states to get anywhere. Anyone who thinks Congress and the President can just wave their hand and make the Electorai College go away is deluding themselves.
Dems have taken both seats in Georgia/ Mitch McConnell is condemning anyone in his party to challenge the certification of the electoral college / Vice President Pence refuses to decertify Joe Biden’s win - That means Biden officially wins, it will only be delayed , & if you were hoping for another $2000 stimulus check you will get it. (I am not Democrat nor Republican - don’t shoot the messenger, thanks)

All I can say is that it is truly sad what a laughing stock our once great country has become and how scary it is that the masses can be so easily brainwashed and controlled by a bloated orange cheeto.
Actually we are long past that stage. Us in the rest of the world laughed our heads off when Trump was elected. I mean we didn't, it was far too serious. But that was the point at which America was a global laughing stock. We stopped laughing a long time ago.
Now we are watching amazed as significant chunk of the Republican party clings on to the mast of a ship that has already sunk, while the rest of the Republicans circle them in half-empty lifeboats shouting 'you make a very handsome living out of democracy are you really sure you want to cancel it'.
And they thought the final scenes of the movie Natural Born Killers in 1994 was beyond the pale. Very tame compared to all this going on.

I think every single one of those asshats, standing up there walking back their opposition to the election results, saying things like, "T. has been a consequential president, but enough is enough. Count me out." There by condemning the violence today, are also to blame.

From one country where democracy and decency is under threat to another, I'd say America lost the election some time ago. We've both passed on transformational movements and stuck with the neo-liberal status quo.
Minutes ago, Congress certified Biden's victory and after four long years finally showed some backbone by standing up to Trump's bullying and squashed his unfounded assault on the voting results.
I never would have thought that I'd get a front row seat to the death of an empire. White supremacists/fascists/people who support Trump in any way whatsoever/conservatives have made things rather interesting.
This whole thing has been rediculous!!
But kudos to the whole lot, for shining a glaring light on all the loopholes in our system that allowed this clown to do all he has, and get away with it.
