For plenty of years after discovering how cuddling makes me feel, I had a fixation with how long I did without cuddles. After hiring pros from 2016-19, I lost this fixation. I do still enjoy cuddling, but if all I can get is a hug, it’s better than nothing. Anymore, for me, affection is affection.

While I can survive without cuddles I can not honestly call it living, just the excitement from knowing I have a cuddle coming up does wonders to help shed some of the depression and related issues. It's rather telling when people you know ask if every things ok, because they haven't seen you smile before now lol

  • I chose “I’d be fine without it” ... when I first joined CC I felt & thought like I needed & wanted cuddles, after discovering the thread I realized that I was really missing & desiring that connection with others & that escape.

To me, cuddling is a powerful painkiller and antidepressant - better than any pill, but highly addicting, so best not to cuddle too much!

  • @sunnysideup yeah no one mentioned the addictive part till it was far too late for me lol I am a card carrying cuddle junkie!

  • Essential! Would not date anyone that didn’t cuddle

  • It is important , I enjoy it. I have other things I occupy myself with and various things that keep me happy too so it's not the be all end all of everything

  • I can live without cuddling, but I'd much prefer to have cuddles, hugs and affectionate touch in my life.

I think Covid-19 has shown that I can live without but it isn't desirable.

  • I selected, "Other" because cuddling has become very important to me, but I lived without (squishy platonic cuddle buddy snuggles) for my whole life, up through August of 2020. I had no idea this was a thing, let alone a thing I'd find myself obsessed with in just a few months!

But if I had to go without again, I'm sure I could without too much negative impact... I think... Maybe... I'm really not looking to test the hypothesis... 🙃

@NightShift39 ~ Lucky!! I have yet to receive my card! Hrm...? Maybe there's just some sort of Covid backlog?!

  • @quixotic_life I dunno I just kinda woke up in an alley one evening with this weird stylistic cuddle bro branded into my soul....

  • I wonder if people here know if you favorite them ... i have favorite some simply because of their profile (I have no idea what they look like but their profile is so well written) , other times I favorite some just because I love their pics & feel like they’re my type, & others because of the way they interact on the thread & they really intrigue me 🌌

@introvme they do not, the side bar notifies you of this if you click the favorite icon :)

Edited cuz I apparently can't read before my 2nd cup of coffee lmao
    Damned you autocorrect

  • @introvme ~ they don't. 😕

  • Thanks @NightShift39 & @quixotic_life .....I think it would be cool though , as well as other simple features here & there for the thread , the forum is definitely a huge asset here.

@introvme you're most welcome and yep I love the forum its lead to meeting some interesting people lol

Sure edit to fix a typo and put in a new one I don't mind autocorrect...

  • first of all, I am glad I found this forum.
I live alone, I eat alone, I sleep alone. I have a few good male friends.
I have almost given up on dating. Most women in my age bracket want a long term relationship and marriage
I definitely need some female interaction ( Cuddling ) Its just a bad time right now (COVID)
Thats my story and I am sticking to it.

  • @hawker69 I hear you mate marriage is so off the table for me an LTR I can get behind...with the right person but there are zero chances of wedding bells in my future lol

  • It has become pretty important. Living without touch is hell.

  • I don't feel that I need it, but it certainly improves the quality of my life. I would consider it moderately important to me I think.

  • @CuddleDuncan Living without touch is hell. Well not quite for me but close. My only touch for me is my massage theorist . I have been to the same one for over four years, It helps

  • [Deleted User]StLJim (deleted user)

I can tell the difference in how touch affects me. It's a positive thing. So no, I wouldn't want to be without it on some regular basis.

  • It ranks lower than eating and sleeping but higher than weeding my garden or cleaning my air-conditioning filters.

@hawker69 A massage theorist sounds like hell indeed. Always talking theory about how good massaging is and what the best techniques are, but never actually massaging! :) lol

On a side note, does anyone know where on Maslow's Hierarchy of needs does cuddling fall?

  • edited January 2021

@sunnysideup ~ Yes. Right in the middle... in "Love/Belonging"

Though as an infant it's on the ground floor. As we mature, it slowly moves up through the pyramid to land in the middle. At least that's how I remember it. All those psych classes were a loooong time ago...

  • My foggy memories confirm that assessment as well.

Cuddle, or general physical connection is vital to this girl! Covid is so challenging. If you're familiar with the 5 "love languages" - mine is physical touch followed closely by quality time with others.

I am a single full-time parent of all boys (teens!) and they are no longer cuddly 😔 They will give their ol' mom a hug now and then but it's not consistent.

  • It’s necessary for survival

  • It's very important. Although I can get cuddles from my kids anytime, It's so crucial to have that adult romantic or platonic human, touching interaction.
