What types of movies are you really into?

I've gotten really into the smaller independent and/or foreign films. I don't know why, but I just can't get that into most of what's popular. I discovered this site http://www.mubi.com which is really good for independent film fans. They add one curated film per day and it's available to watch for 30 days. At any given time, there are only 30 films on the service so you're not overwhelmed with thousands of choices like on services such as Netflix.

    🎭 Dark Comedies
    😬 Suspense/Psychological Dramas
    👩‍👧‍👦 Family ~ Pretty much everything from Ghibli, Laika, Aardman and Henson. And there are a mess of Pixar and Disney/Disney Classics I'm fond of too.

    My favorite types of movies are sci-fi, comedy, drama, family, and occasionally a romantic comedy. I like foreign films too but just haven't seen many.

    I am a self professed movie nerd (I've seen EVERY movie that won the Oscar for "Best Picture.") As I've gotten older, I really enjoy films (and books) that center on the human condition. Those that show the struggle of being human. Films such as "Love & Mercy", "Silence" and "Crazy Heart" immediately come to mind. I also appreciate a good comedy.

    @Mike403 a buddy just let me use his access to the Criterion Collection. I've bought a number of films on blue ray from them. Never been disappointed. Watched a few movies this last week on the service. If I win the lottery, I'll be glued to the couch watching their entire library.

    I prefer movies where the cast are people I have never heard of. I don't like Hollywood movies full of stars. With those I find I'm watching the actor or actress instread of the character they are portraying. I'm a big fan of foreign movies, especially French and Italian movies. Some of my very favourite movies are by Eric Rohmer, especially his six 'moral tales'.
