Cuddling on film: Your favorite videos, episodes, or movies with cuddling scenes in them

edited December 2020 in General

I have found various videos on YouTube that feature cuddling, and I've also seen cuddling in TV series and movies when I didn't expect to. I would like to share my favorites and see yours. I don't know if posts with too many links get flagged, so I will start with just one link to the most recent one I saw. The cuddling is between two brothers, one of whom is childlike— I supposed you could call him intellectually disabled, mentally challenged, or with special needs. Anyway, the scenes where the older brother (early 20s) cuddles the younger brother (late teens) are very sweet. It saddens me a bit to think that it is probably the younger brother's special needs and two brothers' grief at losing their parents that make it acceptable for two men to cuddle this way, since I wish cuddling between men were not just reserved for children or extreme situations. Regardless, it is sweet. The movie is titled Regarding Billy and I found it on Amazon Prime Video. Here's a link to the official trailer. The cuddling starts at 0:31.

P.S. As you can probably tell, especially by the end of the trailer, there is a gay relationship in this movie. The irony is that there is no cuddling between the two guys who are in love with each other— only a surprise kiss at the end of the movie when they finally confess their love for one another. The real cuddling is between two men who have no sexual interest in each other.

I like the scene from Army of Darkness where Ash has an evil version of himself that's growing inside of his body. The bit where the twin is halfway out, and the two of them are scuttling around outside, is nice.

  • @UltimateChungus Would you call that cuddling?

  • @nurturingman can you possibly cuddle any closer than that? I mean....

  • [Deleted User]DarkLordChungus (deleted user)

    @NightShift39

The Human Centipede has some pretty intense cuddling, too.

  • Alrighty, then. Here's one I like— The Cuddle Sutra Takeover: Bro Cuddles

  • This was sent to me by a cuddle buddy when I was needing a hug but they couldn't give it in person ~ It really helped...

  • Hahaha love that one!!

  • Hilarious, @quixotic_life !

Any other cuddling moments on film you'd like to share, cuddlers?

  • This has an actual cuddle party in the bit:

  • One of my favorites is this scene in Delicatessen... A side by side cuddle on a bed...

Sorry it's not in English but the words really don't matter for this scene...

    This one’s interesting…

  • This one’s kind of funny, despite and because of its stereotypical portrayal of women. Too bad that affection between men is usually reserved for parody!

    The Brady Bunch Movie.

  • @UltimateChungus , @NightShift39 & @DrCuddleBug your citation of scenes of violence between men are not welcome contributions to this discussion of scenes of cuddling between people. Please be respectful. 👁‍🗨@Sideon @Mark

@nurturingman I didn't make a citation of any scene, violent or otherwise, from the movie I suggested. But to align more with YOUR desires, I have changed my contribution. I did not realize foreign films (in this case, a Hindu film from India) was not allowed. Please keep in mind for future posts, just because you start it doesn't mean you own it. This is a community, not a personal, private club. I offered my contribution with all due respect. I will take my ball and play elsewhere.

  • So what scene of cuddling were you referring to from “Deliverance” (your one-word reply before you changed it to The Brady Bunch Movie)?

I know I don’t own the discussion, but I won’t tolerate disrespectful comments in it either. This discussion, like any discussion, is here to be contributed to, not to be made fun of. I let slide the citations of scenes of violence between men last week so as not to “feed the trolls,” but your citation of Deliverance — and I’m guessing the “squeal like a pig” scene of male-on-male rape — was the last straw.

  • [Deleted User]DrCuddleBug (deleted user)

And you would be mistaken. I was referencing a Indian film (short) that I viewed in one of my film courses.

That aside, the other gentlemen were making a joke. Obvious jokes. I've been in plenty of these forums and it is my understanding that the use of humor, whether you think it's funny or not, is permitted. I will let those men speak for themselves.

    @nurturingman

You are truly a victim here. I deeply regret defiling the sacrosanctity of your thread with my appalling and inconsiderate attempts at humor. I apologize for taking away such an important thing from you, and for hurting men everywhere.

May god have mercy on my soul.

  • Umm no, just no, I personally described no violence nor did I name any scenes from anything. I asked one sarcastic question and made one statement of agreement. So I regret nothing and offer no apology for I have done nothing wrong.

@nurturingman Reported as personal attack and removed comment. [-Sid] Your rant sounded like you and the Christian Coalition activated like the Wonder Twins for a special revival of censorship, intolerance and perceived indignities.

@DrCuddleBug Aren't you the clever little gaslighter, dropping a bomb and then walking it back by claiming you were referencing an obscure film I doubt anyone would think of when hearing the title Deliverance. It's obvious to any reasonable person what you were referring to. The fact is that a man here created a thread about cuddling (not cuddling between men) on film and happened to start the discussion with a scene depicting cuddling between men. The fact is that the first replies were from men citing scenes of violent touch between men and laughing about it. I bet if I had offered a scene of cuddling between a man and a woman there wouldn't be three men here ridiculing touch between men. @UltimateChungus this discussion I started is not sacrosanct, but tender touch between men is, and ridiculing it is a form of bullying. I am a victim here, and so are you. Every man who has been taught by humorous innuendo that touch between men is to be feared is a victim. Homophobia is a deadly problem. Loneliness is a deadly problem. The fact that you can cuddle a woman in public without issue but I cannot cuddle another man in public without the threat of violence is a deadly problem. @FunCartel you can criticize my tone all you want, but after three men ridiculed touch between men and the third one cited a movie that's a one-word metonym for man-on-man rape I decided I would say something about it. Maybe another victim would have found better words or a better tone. I held off on calling out you [edit: @NightShift39] and @UltimateChungus for what you [edit: they] were doing because I feared I would be ridiculed for even standing up for myself. Just look at @FunCartel 's [edit: your] comment "Wheaties peed in much?" as proof. You men can claim you were laughing in fun, but the fact is that this kind of laughter among men is taken by other men as a message: touch between men is ridiculous. Do it — or even talk about it — and you open yourself up to ridicule. Or worse. And when you stand up for yourself and other men who want to touch other men these laughing men will claim you have no sense of humor.

Discussion threads on this site are almost always derailed, becoming flame wars, which I think is a shame. I didn't want to start a flame war, and I didn't even set out to start a discussion about cuddling between men— I simply had the audacity to offer a scene that featured cuddling between men in a thread about cuddling on film. I do take offense to the sarcasm because the message behind it is clear: touch between men is to be feared. And that message is deadly.

I didn't even watch the clip you posted, so read what you want into my post, but you will be wrong. I offered a movie that was obscure because it still impacted me over 30 years later and I figured it wasn't a film everyone would naturally go to (most of us don't watch short films from India). The film to which YOU are referencing I saw saw once ... as a boy ... on tv. I don't remember too much about it other than the time "Dueling Banjo," which I purchased on a 45 after hearing it. I was just responding to the post heading, not your clip.

  • @DrCuddleBug Where is the cuddling in this short film from India, and where can we watch it? Would you like to contribute to the discussion by telling us about the scene(s) of cuddling that impacted you 30 years ago?

  • [Deleted User]DrCuddleBug (deleted user)

I'm not sure where you can find it. In class it was shown the old fashion way, on a projector.

The scene was near the beginning of the film. It's between a father and his young son (3 or 4 years of age). At this point it is established just how much the father loves his son. Then we find out the son is very ill, but the medicine he needs is only available on the other side of the country, and beyond what this poor family can afford. The father is cuddling/cradling his son as the son drifts off to sleep, unaware of his impending doom. You can see the resolution build in the father as he holds his son. The rest of the movie, as short as it was, shows what the father goes through to attempt to get what his son needs to live. Decent film, but it was that scene, do well directed and acted, that I recall after all these years. It's been a long time, vso I might be sketchy on some of the details.

  • @DrCuddleBug Thank you! That was way more informative than your original comment, which was easily misunderstood, especially in light of the comments that came before it. I still stand behind my previous comments even if by some chance I was totally mistaken about the comments I was responding to. The struggle is real. (And even the expression "the struggle is real" was originally spoken by oppressed people and then ridiculed in humorous memes by people who obviously knew nothing of the struggle. https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/the-struggle-is-real)

  • @nurturingman ~ I appreciate you and this thread! What bums me out is my inability to come up with examples of platonic cuddling between adults in film, where it doesn'f lead to or is pined to lead further.

I so wish we could all come up with good examples though because how else will we begin to realize the normalization of cuddling?

@DrCuddleBug ~ It's okay, we all make inappropriate offensive jokes sometimes. There ares things in popular culture that I've referenced without realizing the weight they may carry. What isn't okay is doubling down and causing further harm instead of just apologizing for something that [unintentionally] hurt another. In this instance, saying nothing would have been better. Or a simple: "Whoa! My bad I had no idea! It's been ages since I saw it and didn't realize. Yeah, not funny." Or "Whoa! Sorry, yes, I should have included this info [some details] when I first posted. I've edited my post [now includes your above notes] to clarify. Thank you!"

You both seem to be good people. Glad the tone is shifting back towards neutral.

As to the others/UC... to be expected.

One thing for which I am guilty on this post was not reading the previous posts. It is similar to others I have seen here, so I just jumped right to my input.

I would still stand by my original comments in that you will almost always find those injecting humor I to the thread. There is no need to argue whether you think it's funny or not. That is a bigger question of humor, and the ace of satire in a society.

  • @nurturingman The Wheaties peed in much comment was about you blowing up your own thread because you simply couldn’t ignore the one word Deliverance post like an adult so you took a cue from our current leadership, pulled out your soap box, and threw a temper tantrum. You derailed the thread by attacking 2 or 3 posts that no one commented on except you. Now they know how easily you are triggered. Congratulations on the thread self-mutilation.

  • @nurturingman I apologize. I should have looked at this thread sooner. The topic didn’t interest me. But I now see that it is turned into hate towards men who cuddle. This is highly inappropriate. It is bullying to make jokes or to use violence to demonstrate that affection between men is wrong. I should’ve been here to support you sooner.

I’m completely offended by comments by @FunCartel I hope that the moderator edits these.

And @UltimateChungus i don’t know why you would need to highlight violence. It seems like a protest of men who like men.
