Would you like if CC goes mainstream like dating apps or do you prefer for it to remain niche 🤗

As of now CC is very niche where one has to seek it out/ google it/ be into it, I believe that most of us actually searched for it, stumble upon an article or maybe even heard about it word of mouth... would you rather it remain that way or would you like for it to go mainstream and why?

There is an app for the site now, I'd say platonic cuddling has been socially more accepted too in the years that have passed since it was first talked about, it remains "niche" only because it's hard for a society that is hard on others about touch in general, to wrap their minds around it, for whatever the reason.

Though I feel there is a low level of mainstream uptick in recent years too.

Speculation. We all see something different. 🤣

  • I had no idea there was an app 😯 smh @ me 🤦‍♂️ 🙈 ... & yesss lol 😂 I agree with the reasoning as to why it doesn’t catch on in a societal level, but I also felt like this cc & places like it are purposely not promoted like say in social media (IG account / Twitter / Facebook ect) but I could be wrong...

You bring an awesome perspective to different topics I wish you you were more in the comments 🙃🙂

  • I am on the fence, I would like more acceptance in society and to not have to explain my job to every person I meet. I would like there to be more clients to choose from and for there to be less creepy clients. However, I would not like the market to get overly saturated with other professionals, there is already a problem of professionals offering non-platonic services and if everyone knew about professional cuddling I could see a lot more unethical professionals entering the market for the wrong reasons. I also worry that if too many people sign up to be professionals it will drive prices down and make cuddling unsustainable to be a full-time job. If it gets to that point there will need to be some sort of certification or licensing requirment for professional cuddlers like there are in other therapeutic/ healing professions. I think I would like it to stay niche but more well known than it is now like reiki or acupuncture for example.

  • Thank you soo much @xandriarain very good insights & extremely great points!

@introvme -- I have written and deleted paragraphs some days in responses.

However, I have to remember my integrity to myself, so sometimes I do not respond not because I do not have an opinion, I do not respond because my advice or thoughts is not always beneficial to others and can be taken that way, it's not really being professional, when I should be objective in as neutral ways as I can muster.

Not saying I have not haven't lapsed into a few rants, I just try to pick when I'm on my soap box, so to speak. We are all allowed to grow and change our perspective on life any day, any time. 🙂

  • so sometimes I do not respond not because I do not have an opinion, I do not respond because my advice or thoughts is not always beneficial to others and can be taken that way - @MissAdventurous

    That was awesome!

  • Mainstream! Mainstream! Mainstream!

  • Going mainstream didn't work out so well for the Cuddlr/Spoonr app: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spoonr
Then again, its failure could possibly be attributed to other differences from this site.

  • @MissAdventurous
Can you post a link to the app for this site? I could not find any such app. I use the web interface.

It's a PWA app. So on Android you should see the 'Install App' button in Settings page but for iPhone you'd need to save the website to your home screen for it to activate. iOS also currently lacks support for the Push notifications in PWA.

So yeah, if you're an Android user, the app is as good as a native app right now.

absolutely stay niche. if it goes mainstream more people will try to use it as dating or hook up cite.

  • I'm slightly horrified to find people saying that want cuddling to stay niche. This fills my heart with sadness.

I want everybody who needs a cuddle to get one. I really don't thank that's a bad thing.

Growth from niche to mainstream will bring far greater opportunity than risk.

@MrPaul I've been using what I thought was a website on my phone, but when I clicked one of the 3 dots that you find lying around, one of the options was 'install'. So I clicked and there is now a link on my homescreen. The look and functionality is the same. (Android)

It's not in the Play Store because it's not supposed to be. I don't know what PWA means, but I do now know that it means it's not that kind of app.

I suspect PWA means "it's really a website but we've made it look and feel more like an app".

  • @sage_wisdom I agree !! A combination of that & what @xandriarain said will happen if it goes fully mainstream.

I’m sure the people that are desperately seeking platonic cuddles are using search engines to find cuddles. with the general public gaining knowledge of professional platonic cuddling as a thing and it’s growing popularity... the people that need it will find it. keep it niche.

Well I would like to see CC go mainstream like dating app. But there are drawbacks. You cant have everything.
The Good. There are hundreds of thousands for people who need human touch / cuddling . They could use a good app.
I am in Calgary a population of 1.2 m and currently less than a handful of active people ( Cuddlers ) So where are they all ?

The Bad. The dating apps are all a scam . Completely out of control. Full of scammers, bots, fake accounts
Currently the FTC is suing the Match Group for fraud. Match group owns almost all the dating apps.
If that happens CC with become another garbage app.

  • @sage_wisdom Spot on. Anyone who thinks that it wouldn’t be corrupted is pissing in the wind without goggles.

  • @hawker I had no idea the match group owned most of them .... that’s pretty interesting!

  • [Deleted User]sage_wisdom (deleted user)

another reason to keep it niche - scammers and fakes.

  • That’s true @FunCartel ... there are already issues to deal with & that’s just being niche, imagine on a mainstream level ...

  • [Deleted User]sage_wisdom (deleted user)

Cuddles are a PRIVILEGE (not a right) which should not be available and offered to those who will abuse and won’t use it properly.

  • Do I think affection should be encouraged? YES! you will always get the muppets who miss use a site for their for the main stream agenda... I don't see why if the app was managed well it could be just as effective =)

  • Just finished reading @hawker69 thank you for that, reminds me of Diageo where they own most of the worlds spirits , so chances are when someone goes to the liquor store the money is going straight to their pockets

  • I've seen an influx of new members heading into the new year.

  • Yup I agree @sethryan44 when I log on I’m
noticing a great deal of new faces on the home page (“new cuddlers slide”)

    @CuddleDuncan

I suspect PWA means "it's really a website but we've made it look and feel more like an app".

To some degree, yes. It's a newish web-based app technology that allows the website to act as the app source. Google are really pushing it hard to eventually replace native apps thereby eliminating all the clunky development time wasted in that area. Apple are lagging behind in support hence our Push notifications not being available for iPhone. They care too much about their walled garden of an app store to enthusiastically embrace this positive evolution.

  • I'd like to see cuddling be more mainstream and accepted. I think we could benefit if society wasn't (or didn't seem) so weird about touch and cuddling.
