  • @Importance @squeakytoy - I dont like that the self checkout machines treat me like I'm an idiot. "Scan your item." "Place your item in the bag."

  • @Mike403 bahahaha. Is that real?

  • @Importance - At the grocery store I go to. I wish it was human so I can tell it to shut the hell up.

    @UltimateChungus why does everything I touch turn bad? It's like the opposite of the Midas Touch, but just as annoying, and less nice to look at afterwards.

    Am I just a trash human?

    @BuggleBear oh sweet girl. You are having a bad day. I have them too. I can completely relate to what you are saying. Put down the phone. Go outside. Go for a walk. Get some fresh air. Put on some of your favorite music. Do anything to get yourself out of that headspace. Or just take a really long shower and cry and get it all out and then put on the great music. You have to get out of that sad space. It’s terrible to be there. We have all been there. You are not alone.

    Please make a list of things that bring you pleasure. Start right now. Write down the things that make you happy.

    Things that make me happy are:
    Bright colors
    Flowers
    Reading
    Painting
    Listening to podcasts on mental health
    Watching stand-up comedy on streaming services
    Listening to happy music
    Watching Steph Curry play basketball
    Cleaning my room/getting organized.

    What is your list @BuggleBear write your list back to me right here in this forum, please

  • Why do bad things feel good?

    If reptile people existed, would they use this site to seek body heat?

    Upon the announcement that smokers will receive vaccines in the same priority with people suffering health conditions, some people are angry that it's unfair to offer priority to smokers, even though it results is fewer fatalities and less crowded hospitals during the pandemic. The question is, how should this run-on sentence have been structured?

  • Hahaha 🤣🤣🤣☠️☠️☠️

    @Plato33

    Possibly. I used to be scared of needles. But then I was diagnosed with type-1 diabetes at the age of nine—I had to get over that fear real quick. So, if you can make acupuncture seem imperative maybe it will work better.

    @BuggleBear

    I don't know you well enough to adequately answer that question, or to console you in any capacity.

    @pmvines

    Probably because of Satan's malign influence.

    @squeakytoy

    Reptiles generally don't have a need for touch, as far as I know. They'd likely go sunbathing instead of using this site.

    @BuggleBear: When nothing you do turns out the way you wanted it to, this might be incompetence on your part or it might be Murphy's Law asserting itself. Either way, you have to either work with it or give up. (Note that giving up isn't a bad choice if the things in question aren't important to you. More energy for other stuff.)

    @pmvines: Things which are bad for you in the long run often feel good in the short run. This is because our bodies are stupid things that don't consider long-term consequences. It's almost as though they're the result of some kind of mindless process that doesn't care about the long term health of any given individual—just live long enough to breed and bam, your genetic code continues to exist. Even if it's full of stupid garbage.

    @squeakytoy: Lizard people, you say? Hmm. I'm pretty sure most Cardassians would build saunas. Large, family saunas.

    @DarrenWalker glad to know that I come off as incompetent 😅

    @Importance, the list is pretty short at the moment but consists mainly of dogs, fluffy socks, getting nice mail (that isn't bills, official letters or junk mail) reorganising things, and cheese. I'm sure it will be longer at some point but I'm at the bottom of a pretty deep hole right now.

  • [Deleted User]DarrenWalker (deleted user)

    @BuggleBear: Or powerless in the face of Murphy's Law. One or t'other. I know whenever things go wrong for me it's either because of something I messed up or because of something I couldn't have done anything about. If there's a third option I dunno what it is!

  • @BuggleBear

    I like all of those things too! Keep going!

    Can you describe to me the best vacation you ever went on and why it was awesome?

    Or could you tell me about a dream vacation you would like to take?

    I like organizing and making plans. That makes me so happy.

  • [Deleted User]DarkLordChungus (deleted user)

    @Importance

    A good vacation, for me, is one where I don't need to speak or interact with anyone. In my mind, any vacation where that criteria is met is a good one. I wouldn't describe any of my previous vacations as "great".

    This is a very topical question; I have the next few days off, as a sort of mini-vacation. My plans involve staying at @DarrenWalker's place, playing boardgames, and relaxing. This vacation will likely be great.

  • @UltimateChungus That sounds amazing, hanging out with Darren Walker, playing board games, and relaxing. I literally dream about buying a ticket to Fargo just to hang out with you two. I really enjoy the shenanigans you get up to on this website. You both bring me so many smiles and so much joy. If you weren’t on this website I’m not so sure that I would be as happy here or that I would even stay. You guys keep me giggling all night long.

  • @squeakytoy whats your birthday month and day only no need for the year

  • [Deleted User]DarrenWalker (deleted user)

    @Jimmy13: Well, no... obviously there'd be no need for the year. On account of her age is right there on her profile. So you already know the year. Unless she was born really early in January.

    Hey, why do you need this data again?

  • @DarrenWalker She wants me to show her that magic is real and I think you do too so if you want you could send me you're month and day too

  • [Deleted User]DarrenWalker (deleted user)

    @Jimmy13: You know what would be really magical? You knowing our birthdays without anyone telling you! That'd be wild.

  • edited January 2021

    It’s probably a terrible idea to give out dates of birth and other personal information on the website like this.

    And I understand that 99.9% of the people here already know this. I feel silly that I felt the need to say it. But 👆🏻🙄

  • [Deleted User]squeakytoy (deleted user)
    edited January 2021

    @Jimmy13 , if magic is real, there should be more ways to prove it than with a birthdate, right?

    @DarrenWalker, actually, I like this idea better! That would be amazing!

  • @UltimateChungus What is your favorite book of all time and why?

  • [Deleted User]DarkLordChungus (deleted user)

    Well, Importance is gone, but I'll answer this question anyways:

    I don't have a favorite book of all time. Three that have profoundly affected me are The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Tales, by H.P. Lovecraft, Battle Royale by Koushun Takami, and A Journey to the Center of the Earth, by Jules Verne.

  • [Deleted User]squeakytoy (deleted user)

    @UltimateChungus What's your favorite Dr. Seuss book?

  • @UltimateChungus why is there so much unpleasantness on the site today? Why can't people just be nice to each other?

  • [Deleted User]squeakytoy (deleted user)
    edited January 2021

    @UltimateChungus Will there be a "Very Awful Thread for Very Awful People" discussion created, and if so, how long can we expect it to stay active before it is closed and dozens of people are banned for saying awful things in it?

  • [Deleted User]DarkLordChungus (deleted user)

    @squeakytoy

    Hop on Pop.

    I'm considering making some kind of an alternative to "Very Nice Thread", mainly because I find that sort of empty optimism cultish and generally repulsive. I have an idea, and it's vastly more interesting than "say anemic nice things"; it's even more interesting than "say awful things". I dunno. We'll see what happens. I've more pressing matters to attend to, like finding a cashew that escaped my mouth and landed somewhere in the carpet.

  • [Deleted User]squeakytoy (deleted user)

    Hop on Pop.

    :joy:

    I'm looking forward to that thread. In the meantime, good luck finding your cashew!
