My 4 y/o cousin a week ago to both lol

Sigh I dropped a whole word somehow if I didn't have work I'd go back to bed...

  • I tell people that I love them every day and get the response back every single day. I guess it’s one of those things where you just have to know your audience.

Someone told me they loved me a day or so ago but I'm not sure I understand the context #autismproblems

I haven't had anyone to say it to for a while.

  • Tuesday, in a completely aromantic way to a haunt coworker on her birthday.

I also tell my cousin I love her every day.

  • My best friend and I sign off, and often start messages and convos, with "I love you".

    So yesterday.... for both.

  • I just told @CuddleDuncan i love him on the COVID-19 thread 😯

  • Either my mom or one of my female friends told me that they love me last. I haven't really told anyone, verbatim, that I love them.

Asked as if it's a rare thing to say. lol

There's a thousand ways to say it, too. Find one way and one person everyday.

  • @StLJim You would be surprised buddy. lol

Lots of people might be looking at your comment right now like “must be nice to be him” ... remember, your reality is no everyone else’s reality.

  • My son and daughter, about 30 minutes ago told me they loved when I bought pizza for dinner.😅 I guess it's the little things😊 Of course, I hugged my offspring until they were breathless and told them it's ok, I love them too, even more than pizza.

  • Lolol 😅 that was really sweet @Resilience 💕☺️

  • @introvme shhhhh
    Dont let my secrets out😅
But thank you. My children are my rock. I mostly do pro cuddling becsuse it seems a fun way to meet and cuddle people while covering the travel expenses. But it also helps to bring in just a teensy bit extra income so I can take them on a real vacation this summer. 🥰

  • 😍🥰😊 your secrets are safe with me @Resilience ♥️ 💕 💗 🌌 *hug**!

  • Thanks! 😊🥰❤ * hug*!!

  • just a few days ago, talking to my daughter that lives 1100 miles away. we all ways exchange that word !!!
You never know what tomorrow will bring, I lost a daughter in a car wreck many years ago, so glad that we both said "Love YOU" the last time we talked on the phone, she lived 1500 miles away. I was raised in a family that no one ever said that word, I regret to this day that I never told my Dad that I loved him or hugged him before he passed.
So, if you feel it in your HEART, then SAY IT !!!!, I have learned to SAY it and I do very often.

  • Agreed!!

@StLJim "There's a thousand ways to say it, too. Find one way and one person everyday."

I typed a version of, approximately an hour and 15-ish minutes ago!! And had read it just moments before (in a message from almost two hours earlier).

How we communicate and feel our love and appreciation for others, really is quite varied...

  • @waynewv soo sorry for your loss! 😔

I agree that if you feel it in your heart, you may well regret not saying it. I know for a fact that if you don't feel it in your heart, saying it can bother you considerably—both at the moment and in the future.

I tell my parents I love them every once in a while. I think the last time I told someone I loved them was last month: my mother. A lie, but she likes hearing it and she and Dad still have control of my old bank account, out of which my rent's currently being paid. Better for me to keep them happy, you know? And it's not like I hate them.

The last time someone told me they loved me was a few hours back, before I went to bed. Pretty sure they meant it. Nice.

  • I told the delivery driver I loved her when she delivered my favorite meat lovers pizza earlier in the evening from my favorite pizza place.

    @quixotic_life Quite varied. Yes.

It's not just romantic partners, and family members. Those people, too, for certain. But it's anybody. The people at the laundrymat who do my laundry - I brag on how nice they make me look. My occupational therapist - I can't even tell you all the ways I find to validate her professionally, and personally. Especially someone who cuddles us. People at the maid service. Or anybody that crosses our path.

It's okay to care about people. And from your list that took you 1hr 15min to thoughtfully put together I'd bet there are a number of wonderful ways to communicate to people that they matter in your life. To you, or in other ways, too. That they're relevant, or thought about, or someone who puts a smile on your face... how many ways?

Is all that saying you love someone? In a way... I say yes.

And once they know you care, and you talk to them they start to feel seen. And now they know in some small way they're not alone. Maybe they weren't to begin with, but now there's more.

That's love for people. It's all personal - absolutely. And we never once told them that we loved them. All we did was show them in one way or another - see quixotic_life for that list.

  • Tonight. My daughter.

I can't remember the last time I ended a conversation with an immediate family member that we didn't say "I love you". Nor can I remember a day I never said it to a friend or a friend to me.............. which I always reciprocate. Those three words mean so much to me, my friends and my family. One just never knows when you leave the presence of another if you will ever get the chance to say it again.....

  • [Deleted User]squeakytoy (deleted user)

I might be in the minority here, but I hate the phrase "I love you". I only have bad associations with it. I don't make the type of friends who would say it to me, I don't like saying it to others, and in relationships, I prefer having partners who place more value on loving actions (quality time, physical touch, acts of service, gifts) than they do on words.

It's been years since someone has said that to me, and years since I've said it to another person, and I like it that way. :relieved:

NOOO THIS IS NOT THE COMBO BREAKER I WANTED

Curse you @introvme  But I appreciate that your intentions were good.

  • Just give me a sec to get the love out of my heart 😰😭

  • Always squeaky hug!! ☺️

  • [Deleted User]squeakytoy (deleted user)

@introvme This is acceptable :relieved: hug

  • @squeakytoy I'm not a fan either. It doesn't have bad associations for me, and I'm happy to say it and hear it. But it's so .... pointless. If you love somebody, they should know anyway. And if they need the reassurance that you do ... well, why?

It has its uses though, particularly for new connections. Somebody on the forum said he loved me the other day, and that was nice. We were at risk of a slight disagreement, and he was just signalling that disagreement or no disagreement, all was well.

But I think it would be good if we had different words for those different things.

"I love children, but I couldn't eat a whole one."

  • @squeakytoy I don't lightly say it. There's only maybe a handful of individual people I say it to, and most are biological family.
