    Gonna have to go with @CuddleMeLater on this one.

    It's not just this thread, it's multiple threads, where @CuddleDuncan has gone off about people not having their photo in their profile ~ Despite multiple women (pro and enthusiast alike) saying it's a non- issue.

    [CD ~ I adore you but it's a bit much sometimes...]

    Do we want to see something (anything) other than the default? Yes! Will we still engage with those who don't? Yes! Do we want to see a pic of who we'll be meeting? Yes! Are we typically able to wait to receive the photo for when they're ready to share it? Yes!

    I feel the same about this, as I do about rates - if you (of the collective/anyone of you) don't like what they're charging, state your case and move on. If you don't like that they lack a photo, state your case and move on. If you don't like who they will or won't cuddle (even if you see it as based on flawed logic), state your case and move on.

    To keep hammering away at someone who has said they aren't comfortable, is the same type of thing women get from men all the time. So please, make your case and move on instead of trying to convince everyone that what's right for you is, or should be, right for everyone else.

    Additionally, I feel we all should be a bit more careful around the generalizations we make about people based on traits they happen to share. Some of those who have no photos are amazing gentlemen (I can attest to that) and some of those who tick every 'pre-cuddle wish list box' can turn out to be absolutely awful beings (and I can attest to that too)!

    Thank you for your time. I yield the floor...

    Thanks @quixotic_life , I'm glad you agree with me on this issue.

    Despite multiple women (pro and enthusiast alike) saying it's a non- issue.

    This is one aspect that really grates on me. Not only does he have a problem with it, but he keeps insisting it's a big problem for women too, completely ignoring what women actually say!

  • I don’t know about CD but it’s a huge problem for me that everyone is not required to have a face pic on their profile. (Ignoring what women say... smh)

    @Importance

    I don’t know about CD but it’s a huge problem for me that everyone is not required to have a face pic on their profile. (Ignoring what women say... smh)

    You.... you literally don't have a face pic. Am I confused here or what?

  • @CuddleMeLater - No she does. She's a giraffe. You didn't know?

  • Wth? I thought she was the beautiful butterfly off to the side being all strong and independent ~ Not worrying about conforming to the antics of the swarm...! @Importance ~ please clarify! 😉

  • [Deleted User]squeakytoy (deleted user)

    @Mike403 , I would love it if she changed the pic to a portrait of a giraffe's face in response to that. :joy:

  • Why would I possibly be willing to show my face to all the men that refuse to show me theirs? I came to this website in good faith/ and 15 pictures of myself displayed. And mostly what I’ve found is blank male profiles.

    The profile pic issue has gone 'round and 'round the mulberry bush on this site for YEARS. The basic and unsolvable problem is that most people long to be able to tell other people what to do. So "I prefer to deal only with members who have photos of themselves on their profiles" quickly morphs into "Everyone should be required to do things the way I want." I guess "live and let live" is no longer a thing.

    As for me, I once had a photo I shared here wind up as someone's avatar on an adult site. [I had never posted or used the photo online until I shared it here.] I am now much more careful about when and to whom I send pics.

    @quixotic_life your soapbox post atop this page should be stickied. Seriously, it's that good, and bears re-reading.

    O.P. Have I ever been scammed here? Yes. It's the Internet. It happens. I've moved on and had many enjoyable encounters since then. If you feel you are especially vulnerable, then be all means be especially cautious --- but don't let that caution paralyze you. Good luck!

    You all just want to make fun of me? Anyone else?

    @qiuetman775 Your post read that @quixotic_life ‘s last post should be stickied. The last post where she made fun of me? I’m happy you changed that. Thank you.

  • Consider this a gentle get-back-on-topic nudge: legitimate tips or advice to avoid scams.

  • @Importance - Nobody is making fun of you.

  • Why are you gentle with them but so harsh with me?

    @Importance

    Are you referring to this: "I thought she was the beautiful butterfly off to the side being all strong and independent ~ Not worrying about conforming to the antics of the swarm...!"

    Because coming from me, that's beyond Not making fun of you!
    It is a full on 100% Compliment!!

    Non-Conformists Unite!!

    I appreciate that you call things out, that you are strong enough to be vulnerable and honest, that you admit when you're wrong, and don't back down when you know you're right/speaking your truth.

    That's what my comment meant.

    That I'm impressed with you and your badassery and that you're not one to roll over and say things like, "Oh, my bad gentlemen. I didn't realize you fully knew my lived experiences. Oopsie. Please tell me how it is you think I should change my point of view instead of you examining yours." Or other such things I've seen you stand up to.

    Really, I'm sorry my being silly in how I stated that made you feel targeted or upset. It certainly wasn't my intent.

    Oops ~ @Sideon ~ Edited to get back on track

    I think one thing that can help us avoid getting scammed is to call out the things that rub us the wrong way, whether in messages or the forums.

    So thank you @Importance for not staying silent when hurt!!!

    Also, in messaging potential partners, I think it's a good practice to examine and define your intentions and desires, but to also probe and gain a solid understanding of the other too. Better to assess compatability early, before making too much of a personal investment, and ending up scammed, hurt or plain disappointed.

  • [Deleted User]squeakytoy (deleted user)

    I definitely wasn't making fun either, @Importance ! I just thought that since people were talking about the lack of a "face pic" on your profile, it would be funny to respond by changing it to be a face pic of a giraffe :trollface:

    This is me taken 1-16-21

  • @Importance - You should totally make that your main profile photo!

  • Awww soo cuuute!!!! I always want to give ear scratches to giraffes but their necks are soooooo long sigh :(

  • Mike, I did

  • @Importance - Oh.. I saw it when going to your profile.. :) Your old photo still shows up on the thumbnail image on the forums.

  • [Deleted User]squeakytoy (deleted user)

    @Importance Very nice :joy:

    @Importance ~ 🦒💓
    That giraffe er I mean...

    You is are so cute!!!

  • [Deleted User]squeakytoy (deleted user)

    @NightShift39 You might say that wanting to pet a giraffe is a... tall order.

  • Whatever happened to staying on topic? We should start a new thread about giraffes.

  • [Deleted User]squeakytoy (deleted user)

    Oh god, you're right, @Mike403, I just realized there's already been a warning on this too.

    So aboot that scamming, eh, guys? Got any tips to avoid it?

  • edited January 2021

    Idk ~ talking about giraffes here seems... "spot on".

    Also ~ Beware of imposters and photos that aren't of who you think you're talking to...

    Predators lurk here too (it's unfortunate, but true).

    There! Back on topic! 😉

    What do scammers and giraffes have in common?

    Spotty pasts.

    EDIT:

    If someone offers to pay off your credit card debt and give you a little extra, in return for buying something for them using your credit card, they're planning to pay off your debt with other stolen credit cards. It means they get the stuff you've bought them, and you're left with your original credit card debt + extra debt and a whole lotta questions from your bank once the other credit card companies reclaim the stolen funds. This is the Disappearing Money Scam.

    This has been your friendly scam-related tip of the day. It's on topic! So please pardon my ghastly giraffe pun!

    I got scammed by a person on here. She said she wanted 60$ so she can pay for baby sitting. Worse part is that now she is a Professional cuddler on this site now. She has blocked me so I can't tag her even.
