Not long now...

Here in the UK, government rules and general common sense have meant that there has been no cuddling lately. Frankly, I've been really missing it. Now that the vaccine rollout is well underway I can't wait to get back to it. Hopefully soon. In the meantime, if any UK guys would like to message me we can perhaps start to get to know each other online in preparation for when we can actually get together :)

  • Not to sound like a party pooper but simply getting the vaccine does not guarantee one is safe especially since this is the first and hasn't been extensively studied for long term effectiveness. You aren't going to be seeing a return back to life as it was any time soon

That is quite correct, though the same could be said for any infectious disease. There's always going to be an element of risk whatever we do... :(

  • @pmvines There is good evidence to believe that the vaccine has 95% effectiveness two weeks after the 2nd dose. If both parties are at least two weeks past their 2nd dose, I think the risk is much much lower, especially if they're comfortable wearing masks as well. There are ways to get needs met while still being as safe as you can be.

  • Heck, if you're really paranoid, you could also isolate and get a COVID test done right before.

Good luck over there! Vaccine rollout is slowly underway here too, but it'll be a long time before it reaches me (general population). I'm looking forward to the eventual new new normal.

  • @bekah_cuddles - I'm not sure how effective masks are if you're right up in each others faces. (cuddling is a pretty intimate activity). They stop you from spitting on someone if you're also maintaining the 6ft rule.

The whole point of a mask is to work as a barrier against your own aerosol as you breathe out. A decent, well fitted mask with enough layers will stop a lot of the droplets from becoming airborne.

It's not a perfect solution, but then a lot of people are wearing pointless masks/face coverings anyway.

@pmvines the creation of the COVID-19 vaccine does not follow the same science as the flu vaccine or most vaccines for previous pathogens where they take an inert/dead sample of the pathogen and insert it into your body.
The COVID vaccines are designed to teach your body to recognize the virus and destroy it by introducing antibodies and RNA sequences... at least that is what all the reports I've read regarding the vaccine have said, in basic idea.

  • @pmvines is correct as well. Several virologists and Fauci have all said we do not yet know the long term effectiveness and has warned to continue to wear a mask and social distance. In addition, the new variants throw a monkey wrench into the works because they know the vaccine is effective on the new variants but to what extent is uncertain. As a result, normality is a moving target.

So everyone here is partially correct. But how the vaccine works and how it actually plays out in the long term and against the new variants are two different things.

  • Plus it doesn't account for mutations etc . I am hopeful , just the jury is out as to his effective it will be . Fingers crossed

What is all this vaccination talk about. Is there something going on?

  • Id rather never cuddle than get any vaccine

  • @BryC good luck, because you will soon be faced with that choice.

  • Does anyone ever research vaccines at all or do they just sheep of big pharma , the elite , the government?Vaxers are nothing more than sheep.

  • @BryC we've been over this several times in other threads. I suggest you catch up on the conversation by having a look at them.

    @CuddleDuncan: 👍🏼

You can start with this thread here if you want to get a feel for the type of research the vaxxers are doing, @BryC.

  • Im not the one that brought up vaccines. As soon as the poster brought up vaccines in their post it opened the door for any and all comments about vaccines. You cant pick and choose whats allowed and whats not allowed since that door was opened by the poster as long as there is no name calling , insulting , bullying , harassment.Which I didnt do. Definition of sheep is followers which isnt name calling , insulting , bullying , harassment. I could of said sheeple but didnt.

@BryC: Right... and since we've been talking about vaccines for a while now, would you like to catch up with the conversation before jumping into it and trying to start over from the beginning?

  • Only if I dont have to search for the forums. If the links to the forums are provided for me.So far Ive only read recent forums with a reasonable number of comments.Thousands or even hundreds of comments are usually an unreasonable amount of comments to read but like my mom has always said there is always exceptions to the rule,

  • [Deleted User]DarrenWalker (deleted user)

@BryC: Oh, good. You may have missed it, but I included a link in the post where I pointed you to a good (albeit short) catching-up thread—go click it!

  • I cant find the link

It's in the words "with this thread here" which are highlighted in blue.

    Wait, I'll dig it out:

  • Thanks for being decent I appreciate it more than I can say for some of the people on here :) B)

  • I read the post , the comments.I commented with questions only?but I asked a lot of tough questions though.

  • All - popping back in for a sec. Back on Thursday. @BryC is on timeout until I get back to sort all this out. Opinion about personal vaccination or anti-vaccination is one thing, but it will not be imposed wholesale on this forum.

  • @Sideon with the 3 point hoop at the buzzer!!
