My 2nd C-19 shot

Here in Fl., they are now doing 60 & over. I just got my 2nd. shot, no real side effects, the 1st. one, my arm was a little tender for a day. The 2nd went very well, the only thing I noticed was after about 14 hrs. I felt a little tired and that was it. I got the Moderna shots. I feel a lot better now going out to meet people, I will still wear my mask when out in public and use my hand sanitizer. I also want to clarify that I have NO connection to any drug co's. and I'm NOT suggesting, or implying or telling anyone to get the shots. And I don't want or need to read any reply's about the why's and why nots about the shots. I'm not looking for any approval or NEGATIVE comments. I'm just letting people know how it went for me. Once the shots become more available to everyone, I will feel better when meeting for a cuddle if I know that person has had the shots. The shots will be a choice for each person to decide if they want to take them.

    I just got my 2nd dose 3 hours ago. So far so good. My arm was sore for a couple of hours after the first one. No effect yet on this one. I’ll post anything worth sharing. I got the Pfizer vaccine. In two weeks full vaccine protection will be present.

    Update at 20 hours: My arm was sore around the injection point after about 2 hours but it was mild and now is not very sore anymore.

    @MrPaul , good to hear, family & friends have reported being tired and some with sore arms. But nothing real bad !!!

    Congrats vacs getters! I get my second shot in less than 2 weeks. Hopefully we’ll reach herd immunity and finally put a real dent in the numbers; and subsequently get back to being cuddling cuddlers who cuddle with cuddlists all cuddly.

    40+ million Americans vaccinated, CDC reduced school social distancing for children from 6 to 3 feet, things are improving, hospitalizations and deaths are down.

    I'm telling you, when people actually take consensus science seriously... things get better. Everything else just makes you feel good temporarily.

    My second one is due in May, first one barely felt it and had no side affects. I was tired the next day but I'm always tired so that means very little!

    I had Astra-Zeneca (Oxford) because that's what was on offer, but I had no preference. Just feel lucky that I can be vaccinated.

    Got my first jab this past Wednesday. Other then soreness at the injection site, nothing else out of the ordinary happened. Got my appointment for the second jab at the same site I had the first one.

    My shots have been cancelled for now .
    All that is currently available is Astra-Zeneca (Oxford). I am a type 1 diabetic and Astra-Zeneca (Oxford) is not recommend for Type 1 diabetics .As per my doctor . I will be notified as soon as other brands become available

    @hawker69 I would not get the Astra-Zeneca if I have the option for a different one either. My reason is different from yours but definitely medically related as well. Fortunately, Astra-Zeneca is not here in the States yet.

    I have had the Moderna vax and I had reactions but 31% of those who receive the Moderna get reactions—just means your immune system is hyper vigilant. Had a fever, intense chills, headache, joint pain and extreme fatigue for about 16 hours then was fine. On the second dose it was worse and they held me back an hour because my BP shot up to 190/140. They gave me water and aspirin and it came down quickly. But then I had the same effects as the previous shot for a day and a half and then fine.

    On a side note, it looks like Pfizer is fast approaching a clinical trial stage for a drug that stops Covid-19 in its tracks if you do get it. Kind of similar to what Tamiflu does for the flu, only better.

    I had my second shot of Pfizer on March 16. I had some tiredness and soreness for 24 hrs and that was it. The shot went well. I do admit to being very nervous. But all went well. Peace & Blessings to all.

    Correct, your body, your choice. But freedom does not mean the carte blanc ability to infect others.

    Astra-Zeneca 90's comment reported, reviewed, and removed. Contamination issues in the 90's is not equitable or related to the Covid pandemic today.     I am supporting science. I received both vaccines as has most of my friends family and neighbors. Its the intelligent thing to do.

    @jay20211 Covid-19 has killed three million people. In the past year.

    The contaminated blood problem that came to light in the 90s was a global issue, far beyond one company or country. It is irrelevant to the current situation.

    I had the first moderna yesterday, and can definitely feel it doing its thing, which I expected. It was a tough night. I am not looking forward to part two, but am elated! I just hope we can get enough of the population immune before that monster mutates too much.

    I'm planning on getting it once I return to Virginia, but I am nervous. I never get sick, so I'm not even used to milder versions of what people who have reactions are feeling after the shots. =P

    @biancalovecraft My doctor said the Moderna hits harder than all the others but that it’s efficacy is proving to be the best. I had the Moderna and it is rough if you get the effects. The second one is rougher but a day of misery is better than dying.

    @FunCartel I agree. I suspect that the worse you feel from the vaccine, the worse you would have fared from infection. I have a banshee immune system that tries to kill me while fighting "a little cold" someone casually gives me, so I have been "living in fear" to the disdain of many who I guess can't relate.
    I have a raging headache, every old injury is inflamed, and my joints hurt. I'm grateful!

    @biancalovecraft Exactly how I felt. I texted a few people that if I have this reaction to the vaccine, I have no doubt the real Covid 19 would have killed me. And you are right—it is your immune system in hyperdrive.

    I got my second shot last Thursday. I got very tired, headachy, ran a low grade fever, and my arm got very sore. That lasted a day and then I felt better for about 12 hours and then got sick to my stomach for about 5 hours. So, nothing dreadful but it definitely knocked me around for 2 days.

    As for what one’s reaction “means” . . . I would not read anything into it. In general, younger people have stronger reactions because their immune system is more robust. Women tend to have stronger reactions than men. But not getting a reaction doesn’t mean your immune system isn’t responding robustly, either.

    Got my second Moderna about 10 days ago. 2nd day headache, some body ache and slight chills. Bounced back fully on day 3. All in all very happy and relieved to have gotten the vaccine!

    People telling you try an illegal drug that is unregulated and whose contents and ratios are unknown is peer pressure. A drug that has been through clinical trials, peer reviews, manufacturing oversights and given emergency authorized use is quite different because if you want an end to lock downs and isolation the vaccines provide that. If you can’t see the difference then no amount of words will help.

    Millions of people have died. Millions remain sick and possibly dying. Science has given us options to significantly reduce or even eliminate future risk.
    Hmm, should I do something to help protect myself, my family, my friends and everybody else? Or should I do nothing?
    At the risk of being realistic the right thing to do is get vaccinated.
