Do anybody give real good massages?
Hard to find a massage in columbus,Ohio
I would assume a registered massage therapist is what you might actually be looking for if you want a massage.
I do but live in Florida! Far away from you and not sure if you have a gender preference either.
A good Massage Therapist that give real good massage is a rare commodity . There is a flood of massage therapist in Calgary, so the quality is VERY low. I have a registered massage therapist who does a very good job. If you find one HANG on to her/him.
I give really good massages. A cuddle before or after (give a cuddle, get a cuddle?) would be great. In fact, I would settle for a relaxing cuddle, maybe with some give and take massage.
I’m considering becoming a licensed massage therapist. I believe it would incorporate very well with cuddling. I’ve been told that I give good neck and shoulder massages. 🙂
Massage is a personal thing, each person's preferences vary widely and finding a therapist who matches your needs can be tricky for some people. I'm a massage therapist, 17 years of experience, and I enjoy incorporating massage into a cuddle. I have received plenty of good feedback from clients over the years, but you can't please everyone. I also trade massage for cuddles if its acceptable for both parties.
Many Chiropractors in Florida have massage therapists in office. That might be a way to find one.
The sparsity of reaponse and the diversity of location answers this question. If we live in a "male dominated" society, why is it that men have to pay for everything? Why can't something be honestly equal and mutually beneficial as human touch?
Seconding @Chris55555 on this. Regular massage therapy has been such a godsend in these times for me, both for physical contact and working out all the freakin' knots from sitting in an office chair all day at home.
If your health plan covers it, take advantage of it! Seriously.
@cookiecrumb nobody said you have to pay for anything. Either find a friend to cuddle with, or hire a cuddler. Having that as an option does not get in the way of anybody seeking and finding friends to cuddle
@cookiecrumb Yep, what @pmvines said! There are female enthusiasts on here as well as pros, but since it's risky for us to spend time alone with a guy we met on the internet (and since a lot of the women here have already had bad experiences with it), we're very careful about who we meet up with. If you're willing to take the time to connect with an enthusiast and build trust, you may find free cuddles that way.
I'm not sure if your other question was rhetorical, but if you're genuinely looking for an answer, a good combination of terms to google are "gender pay gap" and "pink tax".
TFW posting these terms in the forum
@cookiecrumb I have received cuddles from (free) enthusiasts and hired pros. I have also exchanged massages mostly with pro LMTs or enthusiasts (for free) and have hired LMTs as well. The personal decision to pay or not is based on many factors. Thank you @pmvines Good point @Chris55555 True I got my first pro massage at a chiropractors office! @Domenick21 in Florida.
@sqeakytoy, I totally get it. There are a lot of creepy guys out there, even predators. I myself would never harm anyone, and I look out for those who cannot defend themselves. I have put myself in a female's position when I message her, because I understand that she will have her guard up, and that it takes time to develop the kind of bond with her that assures her of a platonic relationship, without any malintent. But, that's also why I got a cat. It's a lot easier with her, because she doesn't feel threatened by me or anyone else on the internet, and she jumps up on my lap when I sit down on the couch, and she snuggles with me at night when I sleep. She's five months old, and her name is Cleopatra. And she is a little bougie princess, too.
Massage therapists (yes, genuine LMT ones) used to advertise heavily on Craigslist. However, there is now no category where they can do that. So I assume they all went out of business or applied for jobs at massage shops with a storefront. Thankfully I got the contact info for the one I patronize before that happened. I don't know how you would find an independent LMT now.
@cookiecrumb Daaawwww! Our cat friends are always a good standby while we're searching for human cuddle buddies. Cleopatra sounds adorable.
I’ve very good at giving massages I also definitely enjoy getting them! I used to have a friend, she’d give me massages and I’d give her massages, it’s the best. I haven’t met many friends at all who’d been that awesome but I’d definitely treasure people who are good at stuff like that.
@edwardfaz is right about that.
@cookiecrumb Oh, you have to pay for everything? Must be nice! I had to work for everything. All the housekeeping, 95% of child rearing, 99% of meal prep (if you count his attempt at toast and a cup of tea, once every 6ish weeks) On top of full time work hours. What's that? I should ask for help? 1 asking for help implies it's my responsibility, why can't these things be assumed the responsibility of every adult in the home (if they both word it righyb 2. If you can't walk in, and see what is done, what needs doing, with a quick look, do you even live here? 3. By the time I put into words what needs doing, I could have done it, myself. Only now, I'm frustrated, because I've worn myself out trying to word it so he doesn't deliberately screw it up, just so I don't ask. Ever. Again.
Seriously, over 5 yrs in this house, he asks me where I keep the plates!
So, I went to school for 2 yrs. Studied. Took my exams. Got my Registered Massage Therapist certification. Then I turn to my dad, waiting for his approval. And he says "so, you're going to put your hands. On strangers. For money. That was it. I couldn't, anymore. True story.
If I ever consider marriage again, I will only take a wife; they are AWESOME, and it would be so relaxing too.
@MaullySterling: Oh, you want a wife. Well, that's completely understandable. Who wouldn't want a wife?
On the original topic: I'm okay at massages, I guess. But I could use more practice. I figure the main thing is to avoid direct pressure on the spine, and listen to the massagee when they say stuff like "up... up... a little to the right...."
@UKGuy Craigslist was always a bit iffy, and prostitutes have had an unfortunate attraction to advertising themselves in the same category. It has conflated the two professions in the past and much time/effort has been needed to bring massage into the mainstream market as well as it has today. There are multiple avenues for finding professional massage therapists even when Craigslist was around although some may not have been common knowledge. Using the professional services an LMT signs up for, specifically the massage insurance providers, they usually have a 'Find a Therapist' option. American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) and Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals (ABMP) in the United States are good starts.
In general on topic, expecting good massages from a non-professional is going to be hit or miss. Some people have a natural talent for it, and experience/knowledge levels vary wildly at that point too.
On the note of pets, knowing some basics for massage techniques improves your petting skills and the animals love better pettings. We have 2 cats and they'll even try to keep me petting them by holding my hand in place with their paws (feel like I'm not describing it well, but it's cute).
Check out massageexchange (to find free or pro) or massagetobook (to find pro only). Even then it's hard to find good legitimate massages in small towns, but these seem like good places to start. Especially for a big city like yours.
@MaullySterling you want a wife? You can have mine! Although you would be dealing with exactly what you explained. (Except child rearing. She would take them to work for 13 hours and ignore them while she did her thing. They got very good at opening cans of Chef Boyardee and microwaving.) I once went on a business trip to come home to a stack of dirty dishes so bad that the bottom ones were stuck together by mold.
And don't expect any kind of affection or intimacy. Keep your cuddle comfort account.
@DarrenWalker YES! EXACTLY! Massage notes: if they say "up, to the right" it's not where I go. In fact, if there's one side that's really bugging them, I start on the other side. First, it's increasing blood flow, flushing out the lactic acid, that makes it achy. Second, now they know exactly what to expect on the sore side, so there's no inadvertent clenching working against you, and their breathing has already slowed down, relaxing, and more of the work is done for you, by getting them in the right place, emotionally.
@creedhands Expect? Never. Totally wrong attitude, if it's your goal. That only works on dogs. Your description of your household's day to day life screams divorce and depression. I'm not surprised there wasn't any affection.
@mariomario I do. I'm no longer current with https://www.cmto.com/ (our governing body) but I am good enough that in high school, when I smoked, I'd do 10 min neck / shoulder massages, or hand massage, for cash in the lunchroom. Made more than my friend with a part time job.
I took a couple of informal classes on massaging and always enjoyed giving and receiving, but just to relax - maybe I could incorporate with cuddling? I haven't mentioned this to my cuddler though, I'm still being cautious about what could be too much, not only in terms of physical touch per se, but also to avoid other feelings to develop. Speaking of that (and of what has been mentioned here even though it's not the point of this thread), with everything going on right now (work, kid, etc.), I'll leave the wife hunting for the folks in the picture I can cook and clean!
@MaullySterling: Ooh, good tip. Thanks!
Yes, @MaullySterling, I think it is safe to say that in most (not all) marriages (at least in the area of the world in which I live) affection is expected (give and take) when married. However, if it were the goal of marriage, I would have left 20 years ago. And yes, I strive to show affection regularly in various forms, not just physical.
You ( or anyone else) can pm me if you wish to continue, as this is not the point of this thread and I do not wish to derail any further.
@DarrenWalker Welcome!
@Maverick07 if you can C&C, you've already set a good example for spawn, and less likely to end up in an unofficial barter dynamic, leading to frustration, and disappointment
I find if you get your posture right for a massage, by the end of the session, you feel like you've received, as well as given, but with the physical tiredness of a good workout.
Not me, I don't know how.
The real difference between a really good massagist and an ok one is their knowledge of anatomy. You need to know your anatomy. For example, some years ago I used to suffer from frequent severe migraine-class headaches. It took two years to trace the worst of them to the base of my occipitofrontalis.
@MaullySterling if only the whole thing would be so simple, huh, my dear? Enjoy the weekend!
@CuddleDuncan Oh! Now you're talking trigger points and pain referral; 💙 it! You can actually map out where the issue is, based on the referral patterns. Bodies are SO cool
Hey guys, leave some wife for the rest of us!
All this talking about massages has convinced me to book another one soon. I am so bloody stiff these days.
