@thinkchronicity no, I really only look at data or other primary sources.

Never done this, and never will!

  • I haven't worn a mask during any of my cuddles with those on here and those cuddles off this site. It was a mutual agreement basically. Everyone felt fine with the decision and no one has been sick. So all is well.

    @Amortentia: So far.

    As far as you know.

  • I would be way less self conscious about my breath if I wore a mask.

  • @Amortentia : I don't know if you are joking , don't understand statistics, don't understand sickness, or if you are purposely being controversial and edgy.

Anyways I'm going to go shoot a speedball now. I mean I didn't die the first few times so I should be good to go.

@Amortentia By your logic, since I never had and accident while driving intoxicated back in my drinking days, it must be fine to drink and drive so maybe I should start drinking again and go on a nice long joyride!

  • I have my first in-person session tomorrow in about 1.5 years. I’m asking all clients going forward to not only be vaccinated, but to wear a mask as well. Nobody’s impervious to this virus. Murphy’s Law. You may as well mask up to at least say you tried.

  • As stated, I’m vaccinated, but will still wear a mask when requested. However, my understanding of the facts is that masks don’t filter out the virus, merely limits the distance you transmit it to about 3ft/1m (best case). With that logic, if you’re cuddling, you’re still sharing each other’s breath within that bubble. (Seat belts are great, but they’re not helping you when the car’s parked.)

@Amortentia I believe you’re being just as safe as anyone else who cuddled through this mess.

  • I think masks should be used indefinitely, as well as full body condom type thingies.

    @snugbuddy
Yes , there is still a risk of infection and transmission after vaccination.
7 % of New COVID cases were from people who were vaccinated .
The 7 % varies on where and when you read this ( LOL)
Pfizer: 95 percent efficacy in preventing an infection. So its a very small risk compared to no vaccine

  • @Catloaf You would have to be a Dick for that to fit properly.

  • @hugo_stieglitz @parkwayvisual @DarrenWalker. uhh what? Have you guys not been cuddling during this time at all because it's a pandemic? Well, I guess some haven't but pros have been and each stayed safe in their own way. I'm also extremely thankful my full-time job outside of cuddling was essential enough to keep working at and I was able to continue normal life for the most part. Now everything is fully opening up this month here so I'm even more estatic! Hope you're on your way back to normalcy where you live too! And that if you haven't gotten any cuddling done that you will be able to again soon. Happy cuddling!

  • @ZacRedBear

...but will still wear a mask when requested.

Yup! Same! But everyone I cuddled felt safe enough without it and so did I.

Yeah..plus cuddling isn't 6 feet apart as they recommend (unless that distance is different where you live) so it's like just cuddling at all is a risk despite wearing a mask or not. Or hugging people or hand shake or whatever. Even paying the cashier.

  • Cuddling while wearing a mask would suck. No thanks.
I've got my vaccine. Not going to be paranoid.

  • @Melancholy your use of the subjunctive suggests you haven't cuddled with a mask. I have, with several different people. I can assure you it really isn't that bad. It doesn't turn a good cuddle into a bad one: it turns a good cuddle into a slightly less good cuddle.

@Amortentia: I actually find the question kind of funny, in a horrible way. "Have you seriously been staying entirely out of other people's personal space just because there's a plague ravaging the land?"

Well, no. Because I share an apartment and a job with somebody else. But otherwise, yeah! Just like my profile says. Why gamble with someone else's health/life when you don't have to? We get enough bastards breathing on us at checkout—no need to pass any of that on to anyone else. My lungs are already wrecked thanks to these people. Why should I carry disease to anyone else? So that they can give it to more innocent cashiers?

1512 people have died in my state alone. Last month we lost 15 people who would otherwise still be alive. A kid under twenty died. Four people are in the ICU because of Covid right now. We don't have this under control.

But yeah, things are on their way back to "normalcy"—stores are opening up, masks are even less required than they were before—everybody's eager to pretend nothing's happening. To take off their masks and breathe on strangers like people aren't dying, like no one's getting sick, like they couldn't possibly be spreading anything.

    Watch for the surge.

  • @DarrenWalker well, I guess it can be easy for you to do that but as I work in healthcare I'm always around all kinds of patients and will be meeting a new one on Monday. But you're still technically around people too since you were working around this time. So you're still with people but cautious. That's the best you can do! :)

  • [Deleted User]DarrenWalker (deleted user)

    @Amortentia: Yep, cautious.

As in caution. As in wearing a mask around the people who don't actually live with you, and exposing yourself to as few others as possible. Cautious, as in not meeting strangers and snuggling up maskless (then probably going to the store to gift people with your own germs plus your new friend's).

'Course, the people I have to interact with still managed to infect me. Because they weren't being cautious. Damn those incautious, inconsiderate rat-lickers. I liked my lungs!

Some people just like crippling others, I guess.

  • @Amortentia i didn’t wear a mask pre vacc and after vacc haven’t worn a mask. No one I have cuddled with haS said they have been sick. That being said I didn’t cuddle til end of April last year.
Anyway everyone can do what they want. For me cuddling with a mask just is not my thing. If you’re that close and one of you has covid a mask won’t protect you and Falci has flip flopped so many times on masks no one should listen to him anymore. He even admitted it was performative after denying it was performative to Dr. Rand Paul’s and other studies have shown masks don’t really do much if you’re that close.
If others wanna wear a mask to cuddle God Bless you if you don’t wanna wear a mask during cuddling God Bless you too.
Everyone has a tolerance for risk.

  • @DarrenWalker you got infected with covid before? That sucks. But technically other than living in a cave and away from humanity we all risk getting infected. Whether or not we do social distancing or wear a mask it really can infect anyone.

@Ironman294 exactly! People don't seem to understand that if you're that close to someone then a mask is useless. You should hear about how mask rules works in healthcare...not all patients are even required to wear a mask. I'll be dealing with one of those patients tomorrow actually. One is masked and one isn't. Will I be 100% safe with my mask? Not at all.

  • [Deleted User]DarrenWalker (deleted user)

Some people don't seem to understand that "not 100% safe" is not the same as "completely ineffective."

It's like they look at a safety precaution and go, "Wait, it only saves lives nine out of every ten times? Geez, you might as well not even bother!" Risk assessment isn't their strong suit, obviously.

"Safer? Who wants safer? To be 100% safe I'd have to live in a cave, and I don't wanna do that, so my only other rational option is to snuggle up to somebody and breathe in their face! It's basically the same as wearing a mask while handing people change!"

And, of course, we mustn't forget the good old "my mask protects others from me more than it protects me from them, so why should I wear it?"

  • @DarrenWalker Ironman pointed out a fact.

Everyone has a tolerance for risk

Your tolerance level of risk is not like ours. For me to feel safer and take your advice would mean I'd have to stop being a healthcare worker. All healthcare workers must quit then to feel safer. But we can't and won't. Well, maybe the one's that entered the wrong field will. But that won't help you feel safer...

  • [Deleted User]DarrenWalker (deleted user)

@Amortentia: I'd like other people's tolerance for risk to stop putting me at risk. "You know," I'd like to say to the people who risk going out shopping without a mask (often after mingling maskless at bars), "I have a lower tolerance for risk than you do. Apparently my immune system is weaker than yours is. Could you stop endangering me? I never agreed to take part in your gamble. It's riskier for me than it is for you!"

  • @DarrenWalker perfect answer! Avoid hospitals even if sick and you won't risk seeing people like me. Stay safe! :)

  • [Deleted User]DarrenWalker (deleted user)

@Amortentia: Right, because people who cuddle maskless never go to gas stations.

  • @DarrenWalker you went off topic lol but technically they all go to gas stations if they need gas and have a spouse or someone to cuddle with. Even if it's their pet. It's possible for a pet can get covid too. Best to give them a mask before a cuddle.

@Amortentia: Your cat is probably not going to be putting its paws all over my counter, handing me money, coughing on product, peeing down the side of the toilet, fishing in its socks for change, touching the soda spouts, etc.

I don't care where your pet's been, what diseases it's carrying, or what risks it's taken, because it isn't going to be passing those risks on to me.

    Humans, though... humans do.

The risks you take with a contagious disease endanger more than just you.

Which, in case you missed it, has been my point this whole time.

  • @DarrenWalker I don't have pets. But I would feel "safer" if people put a mask on their pets technically. I don't want to be passing by any of them regardless. But it still comes down to tolerance of risk. You have issue with masks and people. I've issues with people who have issues with masks but don't put masks on their pets. Either lock your pets up or give them a mask if they go outside. Get the painted picture of tolerance of risk? Some people are more scared than you so you should please them too then no matter how ridiculous they are.
