So let's talk about nude cuddling then, shall we?

I think this thread is somewhat of a testament to the maturity level of this community. We're able to demonstrate and acknowledge that there are preferences outside of what is accepted on this site without promoting or soliciting it and making ourselves hypocrites. I believe it's also a good guideline for new members with how many times clear and mutual consent is discussed.

It's very understandable that many people are uncomfortable with the notion of cuddling nude with strangers, but I don't think it's fair to pass the judgement that no one can enjoy nude platonic cuddling. People have different comfort levels, and I believe some people do have this sense about them that would allow them to be more comfortable like that.
  • @Mark yes absolutely.  I'm just trying to keep it real.
  • @manticorp - Thank you. This perfectly and eloquently sums it up nicely, especially "I don't think it's fair to pass the judgement that no one can enjoy nude platonic cuddling".

Nudity and sexuality are separate issues and expressions, and I appreciate the open and frank discussion without devolving into shame or fear.
  • @manticorp  As I said in a PM your maturity level, understanding, and eloquence are greatly appreciated.

I think if people are practicing nudists then platonic nude cuddling could be fine, though I suspect for non-nudists it would be pretty challenging - as we are conditioned to associate nudity with sex.

Obviously it is frowned on by cuddle comfort for legal reasons. I really feel that topless cuddling should be allowed though. First and foremost men aren't considered nude when topless. Secondly, they are just boobs. I think even allowing just a bra so that skin-to-skin contact can happen would be appropriate. So far I have not had anybody act inappropriately in any of my sessions to make me feel like they wouldn't be able to control themselves if I were to take off my shirt.
Of course I love going to nude beaches and nudist resorts. I'm not the most conservative or modest of people :-)

@SugarMagnolia - To begin with, this was a huge debate started a week or so ago. Everyone is different and has their own opinion, that is to be expected and perfectly fine so I am glad that Mark decided it was best to allow us to speak on behalf of this topic.

I agree with you, they are just boobs and we all know that for the most part, bras are just downright constricting and uncomfortable and I doubt the majority of women would disagree. Therefore, topless or braless would probably be far more comfortable for a woman, especially while cuddling providing she feels completely safe and secure with her partner.

I would prefer to rub the back of a partner without having to cringe by feeling just how utterly tight and uncomfortable her bra strap is. Plus, it would provide me with a sense of pride knowing that I am trusted and my partner feels safe and secure with me. Simply because a woman is braless or topless does not mean nor should it imply that a cuddle session should not remain completely platonic.

In general, I'm fairly shy so nude cuddling would personally make me feel  uncomfortable and to be honest, who the heck would actually want to see me naked anyway unless they wanted a good laugh.

Anyway, thank you for placing a positive outlook on this subject.
  • Personally as a pro cuddler this is very uncomfortable and has been requested before. While in my personal life I'm very open with my body this is not that. Yes you maybe a consenting adult that is very capable of abstaining I do not believe this is the appropriate forum or place for nude or topless cuddling. It's suppose to be about therapy and comfort, not let's see how much skin I can see. And that's what it sounds like to me. It's too close and too easy for it to escalate to something else without consent. I'm not saying that's what would happen but it feels like a gateway.
If you want what cuddling actually gives you there is no reason to take your clothes off. If you are looking for something else, go to a dating site.
  • Reality of the fact is that what two consenting adults do is between them. Where the nudity thing becomes an issue is when money exchanges hands. There is potential of something escalating, and even if it doesn't, it would be very easy for the wrong idea to be portrayed. The last thing a platonic paid cuddle session needs is the connotation of prostitution

I was in a bad mood and out of line if off topic. My apologies.

I work nights and was having a bad one at work. I just saw an amazing pro cuddler and mood has since become that of pure bliss. I do apologize for venting and if getting off topic. I am sorry.

    Mod Note: Merged posts.
  • *For the most part* hundreds of thousands of well-endowed women wear bras for support, relief and comfort. We in turn maintain a thriving bra manufacturing industry that caters to our day, night/sleep and exercise needs. For this we are willing--and do--pay premium prices. Excuse me, but the notion of a male purporting to speak on behalf of women's bra comfort is just ridiculous.
  • The tone of this discussion is a sign of the repressed times we live in. In the 1970s in the San Francisco bay area we had totally nude massage workshops open to all comers, hot tubbing included. Everyone pared off with a partner otten male- female  but sometimes there were not enough female partners so some were male male. in a common room, the instructor led with his female partner sometimes his wife or friend. It started with everyone getting nude and going in a common hottub. Then to the massage room and after ward the massage couples went to shower together so as to be able to wash each others back. that was in private. So no sex took place as far as I know who can say what happened in the showers, but if they did it was very quick! Now even with the most progressive alternative practitioners they play peekaboo with a sheet. Still skin on skin massage but lord forbid if  glimpse or private parts or even buttocks  was revealed...even in a private massage setting. Its even spread to doctors office where my female doctor held up a sheet to avoid seeing my male chest!...I found that positively Victorian. I wonder how many decades with have to pass before we come to another age of freedom.
  • Erogenous zone exposure and touching are inconsistent with the platonic cuddling this site espouses.

Also, a SF 70's-era consensual social/swinger couples massage workshop followed by jacuzzi/hot tub usage which is unsanitary by all clinical standards is in no way equatable to professional clinical draping practiced worldwide In the modern era.
  • @sometimes  Different people have different erogenous zones on various parts of their bodies, and for some people, that can include almost their entire body.  Not touching erogenous zones during cuddling is a bit too much to ask, especially considering one person doesn't know where they are on the other persons body.  Perhaps you meant to say body parts normally covered by underwear?  I'll let @WilliamIII discuss the other part of your post, since he brought it up.
    ♥Jim

  • @Sometimes I must correct you. None of the massage workshops that I attended were advertised as swingers/couples events nor did they function that way. They were serious massage workshops moderated by experienced practitioners. Perhaps you are thinking of the old documentaries of Marin county hot tubs with peacock feathers, white wine and brie of your grandparents era. I did decide that hottubs were/are unsanitary and dont go looking for them anymore. Im thinking that in this "modern age" people are interacting more electronically and digitally and are uncomfortable with actual human contact.

I would like to put my thoughts into this. I am a nudist. No I did not put that in my profile and I dont feel it has any place here. Im pretty sure I would not be comfortable with nude cuddeling with some one I wasnt already intimate with.  Nudism is not about sex, its about freedom to choose. That being said, if people want to cuddle nude far be it from me to find fault, providing it is completely consensul and kept private. Peace.
  • @xdriver60  Your thoughts are appreciated. I like your post.
  • I love skin on skin contact including when cuddling. I love when my cuddle buddies wear minimal clothing like shorts and a tank top. I believe that there are many health benefits and trading of positive energy that happen during skin on skin contact/cuddling. The majority of pros that I've cuddled with generally wear shorts and a tank top and for me, that provides sufficient skin on skin contact. I am however not a fan of nude cuddling for many reasons. My point in saying all of this is not to bash nude cuddling, not partaking in it is my personal preference but I do enjoy skin on skin contact very much so and believe that it is a very healthy thing for us all.
  • [Deleted User]xdriver60 (deleted user)
    @Poly, thank you
@Morpheus. Thank you. I enjoy skin to skin contact also and what you describe would be best.  I really dont see your comment as bashing nude cuddeling at all. Some folks are ok with it some are not. I could and probably would cuddle nude but not with someone I just met or have only known for a short time. I really cant say. Ive never been in a sutuation like that. Only with intimant partners and then nude cuddleing is the best.
One reason I wouldnt cuddle nude with a cuddle buddy or someone I met for this is I know my body and I know things might come up that would make for an uncomfortable time.  That and certain hygiene issues or lack there of... Have a great day and thanks.

One can be fully clothed and have a non platonic cuddle session, and be fully nude and be totally platonic. Clothing or lack thereof has nothing to do with intentionality and desire. It comes down to mutual respect and consent. The rest is dogma and primitive thinking. There are proven healthy merits of skin on skin cuddling. To me there is no need to judge or label individual choices, as long as no laws are broken - but then again oral sex is illegal in most states. Yes it is. Look it up. Everyone is breaking that law.  In short it should be a choice between me and another intelligently evolved human being. That's my 2 cents.
  • @tuttouomo  I couldn't agree more with you, but besides laws not being broken, the rules here also need to not be broken.  I also took a look at your profile, and it seems we have quite a bit in common.  Are you going to the poly pool party Saturday?

@tuttouomo, very well stated!  I agree completely!
  • Theory aside, in real life requests for nude cuddling from a stranger on this site means I will promptly block and report you. Also, i think bringing up the subject at close quarters can be interpreted as menacing.

I like being naked and I enjoy cuddling, but I would be hesitant to cuddle naked.

I don't have a ton of cuddle buddy experience, but I've been around the block a few times. I've had one experience with someone I did NOT meet on this site, where he had invited me to "just cuddle" one night. When we went to the room where we planned to cuddle, he stripped and got under the covers before I could say anything, so I did the same. We lasted a couple hours, both even dozed-off a couple times, but eventually it shifted to a sexual situation. I didn't mind, I fully participated, and I had a good time. But I have to wonder, there's a lot of big talkers, no offense intended to anyone, but how many can really do it and keep it platonic? By the way, if you follow the cuddlecomfort rules for the course of the session, and then go home and have sexual fantasies about that cuddle partner, it wasn't platonic. It doesn't make anyone a "bad person," but it is outside the guidelines for this group. I know my belief doesn't square with many of you, but be HONEST with yourself, and examine your motives. Craigs List this isn't!

  • @gaygramps I have had a nude cuddle pal in the past. It was platonic. She was really into the naturalist thing, and saw in me someone who had no mutual attraction with and someone respectful and mature, who she knew she could have a cuddle with the way she wanted to cuddle, without some bonehead trying to molest her in the process. I felt kind of special that I was entrusted with this. It is not something I would do with anybody though, and other than this one person it is the only nude cuddling I have experienced that was completely platonic in nature.

  • I think it would all be up to the two people cuddling and what their comfort level is and how good they feel around the person and how much they trust them.
I have experienced it before and does feel pretty amazing. Like, it's feeling the closest you can feel to someone, there's nothing as a barrier and could say feels very calming cause there's such a high level of trust. You'll notice you heat up much faster, there's times where it feels hot to the touch, but it varies. When in a position for a very long time, I would say move slowly, cause sometimes bare skin can pull on each other. Another thing is there is a much greater tenancy for arousal, so I would assume both at this point would be comfortable trusting and understand it's still cuddling. This tends to happen when I'm in a very relaxed state, like coming out of a sleep, it's just a thing that happens.
I think it could be a possibility, if both are comfortable with it. I think it would be an exceptional circumstance and I wouldn't recommend it with someone new, or trying it on a whim cause you just want to try it. It could feel awkward, cause each person is not really sure what the other is thinking and wouldn't want things to go too far. That's something special I'd keep for someone that are both very understanding of each other and have build a good level of trust.

  • It's all fun and games until somebody gets a massive erection.

  • @mike403 what if it was medium instead of massive

  • A prior poster wrote "I don't think it's fair to pass the judgement that no one can enjoy nude platonic cuddling". I don't think that's fair either, and no one here is saying that. I'm sure there are men who are capable of disrobing and cuddling a naked woman without being emotionally overwhelmed by a desire for intercourse. Those men are homosexuals and/or eunuchs. No one here is condemning consensual sex, but let's call it what it is -- consensual sex or, if money changes hands, prostitution. Those of you who are looking for such things, please feel free to start your own website -- named, perhaps, "Let's Do It!' or "We're Not Those Prudes Over at CuddleComfort." .
