  • A majority of the people going are from a meetup group, and I've brought it up in the comments of another one.  Thank you very much for your good energy, I greatly appreciate it.  Since my last post, the woman I was worried about definitely cancelled, but I have found 2 more women who I am hopeful will attend, and another probable guy.  Assuming those 3 can make it, that is 4 men, and 4 women, leaving spots open for 2 more of each.

  • My report on the cuddle party

Except for a paragraph on nude cuddling that I deleted, since it wouldn't be appropriate for this site, a couple of paragraphs at the end regarding what I sent to those who said they wanted to go, and the attachment which is my cuddle party agreement, the following is the contents of an email I sent to a woman from a Meetup group.  If you would like to see my Cuddle Party Agreement, give me your eddress, and I will send it to you as an attachment.

    ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

At the beginning of Sunday I had 12 people saying they wanted to
come to my cuddle party, but as it turned out, by 4pm everyone ended up
cancelling on me for one reason and another.  So, I enjoyed spending the
night in the nice air conditioned hotel room by myself, which was a
very welcome relief from the heat at home.  I am not sure at this point
if I am going to try to do it again or not.  If I do, I will collect a
nonrefundable $15 in advance, with the option of collecting more if the
room is more expensive, or not enough people sign up to cover the room
cost.  I put one heck of a lot of work into organizing the event, only
to have to eat the majority of the room cost myself, which I can ill
afford since I am living on Social Security.

    One
guy in a polyamorous group, where I posted this event, contacted me
late in the day Sunday, saying he had not yet attended a poly event, and
was very interested in coming.  I guess I hadn't been clear that it was
not a poly related event, other than that both poly, and platonic
cuddling are both about love.  I told him the event was cancelled, and
that I was in the room alone, so no cuddling would be happening.  He was
still interested in talking, so I told him to go ahead an come, and we
would hang out for a while.  We spent time in the Jacuzzi talking about
various subjects including polyamory and platonic cuddling.  When he
left, he was appreciative enough that he left me some money to help
cover the cost of the room, making the hit I took on cancellations much
    more bearable.

    At
any rate, the attachment is my particular agreement for this particular
cuddle party.  Different people and/or organizations will probably have
different rules in place.  One organization (and I think the best) that
puts on cuddle parties on a regular basis is Cuddle Sanctuary.  What little training I have as a facilitator, and in consent rules, I
received through them fairly recently, and a couple of HAI workshops many years ago.  The only problem with them is that they are in
the Santa Monica / West LA area, and I am in Pasadena, so it is a bit
too far for me to travel, given my finances.  A good place to find a
cuddle buddy, if you want just a one on one experience, is on
CuddleComfort.com (I am also available for that if you are interested).
However, you will find that they are very strict with their rules about
everything being on a platonic (love only, with no sex) basis, which is
pretty much outlined in my agreement, and they very much frown on the
site being used as a means to find a sexual lover.

    You
should feel secure that I will never give your name or eddress to
anyone without your permission.  The following is information I sent to
those who said they wanted to come to my party.

  • Well the formatting on that copy and paste came out a bit weird, but it got the message across, I think.
  • So sorry to hear this! I think all the money should be collected in advance, non refundable. That's what cuddle parties do.

    it all sounds reasonable. Pity.
  • It seems like one of the cuddle parties in the LA area that I've heard about on this forum have worked out. Sounds like some of the San Diego events have worked out. I'm sorry you were cancelled on like that, not cool.
  • I appreciate your sympathies.

I am reviving this thread for a few reasons. 1) The link is relevant to cuddle parties in general. 2) The main point of Jean's post is about self worth, and I don't, and never did feel any loss of self worth just because everyone cancelled on me. It was for their own reasons, and had nothing to do with me. 3) I want to bring it to the top of the heap, so my new Love can read it. 4) I'd like to get some fresh input regarding the desirability of me trying to do it again.

  • I am interested in events in the future. For me as a new person, a gathering like this will be helpful and to feel comfortable learning in a group setting. I will add to this, being that I am blind, it is helpful for me to discover how this works from others. Take care everyone! <3 :-)

    Pasadena back on the map!

    Good idea @I_am_Polylover

  • Thank you, Portia and choco. I really appreciate your feedback. Now I'm hoping that I can get a lot more from others.

  • life is crazy but as long as I am home I want to be there!

  • As long as you are home? Are you planning on going somwhere? If you are, then when? I ask for timing purposes in planning the event if I indeed have it. I need a lot more responses before I commit to it.
