Message Privacy on CC

I'm relatively new to CC and I'm kind of curious regarding the privacy of messages between cuddling friends on CC. Are the private messages between rule-abiding members shielded from snooping by the admins/owners or do the admins/owners have the access to read these private messages?

    This discussion was had not too long ago and it was stated that it is. And that moderators only have access to your private conversation if one or both of you report it. Though for perhaps a more accurate response, I'll let a mod/admin respond to you. :)

It is a requirement set in code that a report must be filed involving the member for their messages to be temporarily viewable.     Let's put it another way.

    IF folks are going to message others and say things that they wouldn't/shouldn't say to a relative or a colleague they work with... then it might be a good time to review what platonic means. And for the guys that think it's cute to send unsolicited dick pics: it isn't.

    Just sayin'.

    @Sideon some cuddling sessions can be quite similar to therapy sessions. The platonic conversations you have with your therapists and cuddling partners should be considered private.

    @uxecud - yes - those messages are private and remain so UNLESS someone is reported for inappropriate behavior.

    Yeah I'll third @xandriarain's comment.

    Although I doubt mods are scouring people's messages looking for juicy gossip, I also am extremely skeptical regarding their assurances that mods don't read messages without "a process that includes internal accountability."

    Use the messages to meet people and book appointments. Keep your private talk off site.

    I understand your concerns, so allow me to explain what goes on, in broad strokes, and without violating any security, features, protocols, or member privacy.

    I’m new as a Moderator.

    Mark, Gary, and Sideon have all made it very clear that our priorities are:

    1) To promote and protect the safety of those who use this website.

    (This is the function of reports, to alert the Admin and Moderator team to potential bad actors, false accounts, and outright predators.)

    2) To maintain the forums, doing our best to allow for open and polite discussions while protecting the forums from personal malice, spam, and inappropriate content.

    That said, my time as Moderator (roughly 30 minutes a day) starts with my scanning the forums.

    Most of it is responding to flagged posts, or moving posts from one sub-forum to the correct sub-forum.

    The remaining time is spent checking reports.

    Most are very straight forward. Untagged accounts that put rates in their profiles get sent an invitation to become a professional, or stop charging. Inappropriate usernames, or photos, are edited and given a warning. Members that flat out break the Terms and Conditions are banned, etc…

    The only time I ever look at conversations is while acting on a report, and to verify that, in fact, Account X actually did break the T&C by asking for/demanding/suggesting non-platonic activity, etc.

    Beyond that circumstance, I have no reason, or interest, in going through the steps of creating a report and accessing the member’s conversations.

    Steps, by the way, that the rest of the Admin and Moderator team can and do see.

    Frankly, and warmly, you folks aren’t that interesting and I’m not that curious.

    I have music to practice, crochet to complete, a Mom to take care of, dishes to do, and naps to take.

    As long as a member isn’t being reported, I will never even glance at anything beyond their profile picture on the sites front page.

    But again, I understand the concerns and I appreciate everyone sharing them openly and politely.

    They can of course see your messages, if they need to whether they do is another matter.
    A pro cuddler I know who had met a former moderator who continually messaged and pestered her, he would bring up things about her she never discussed with him but were contained in messages with clients.
    So he had access and was going against what he was supposed to have done.

    Nothing you write on the internet is private, ever. That isn't a Thing.

    The stuff you wrote is stored on a server somewhere. Unless that server is in your living room, disconnected, the stuff you wrote ain't private.

    The actual questions are around how likely it is that the stuff you wrote will become public, or how long that might take, or the consequences for you if it does.

    (Two thousand years ago Julius Caesar used a cipher to encrypt secret military communications: that cipher was functionally uncrackable at the time. Today it is a puzzle game for eight year olds. Today's unbreakable ciphers will go the same way.)

    If you suspect that a moderator has used their powers inappropriately, Report it at once.

    While there is a process mods have to follow to read flagged messages, messages on this platform do not have end to end encryption. Meaning the third party, in this case cuddlecomfort admin, can read your messages without any special checks and balances.

    What does it really matter if they do? I mean if I don't know that I'd care if they read mine. I have interest in the convos I have, and I imagine the other does too, but to an outsider...?

    I think it's safe to say that virtually no mod or admin has the time or interest to read anything y'all chitchat about on the platform. If something is really that sensitive to you, simple, just wait til you can speak with the person on another platform you feel comfortable with. Or talk in person.
