People often romanticize the past but I feel like cultural and technological progress has made a nightmare of daily life compared to modern amenities. Sure it might be fun to pop over to a 1600s pirate ship for an afternoon but I wouldn't want to stay for more than that.
I'm interested in the future, maybe skip ahead fifty years at a time to see what's going to happen with technology.
I don't like being on a vacation with no hospital nearby, let alone vacation with no penicillin or toilet paper
3 time periods I would love to experience ( from most recent) 70’s / America pre-colonial times / & Ancient Egypt to see first hand how pyramids were built.
The future, 2099.
Whatever time period you go to in history, it's only any fun if you have the 'right colour' skin, and are in possession of proportionate wealth.
I would like to be able to visit with and interview my great-grandparents so some time in the mid to late 1800s.
@BuggleBear , my great-grandparents were peasants who left their countries because of the economic collapse occurring in their countries, I don’t think wealth will be a barrier.
Travel to just for a quick look, or travel to and stay for an extended period, perhaps indefinitely? There's lots of past or future time periods I'd like to travel to for a quick look. But most of all I'd like to go back to my early teen years so I could avoid all the mistakes I made previously.
I would want to go back to a time when any of my pets were still alive, that would be the best
The 90s
Hmm well assuming I can come back to the present when I'm done it would have to be the early 80s so I could spend time with my mom who passed when I was a young girl. I'd bring my little one. Bonus is that it would be when Freddy Mercury was alive and killing it and I could see Queen in person
@UKGuy OMG you couldn't pay me enough to go back to my teen years! Lol Even if I knew what I know now and could change things.
A good series with this premise is "Being Erica" from 2009-2011.
"The show stars Erin Karpluk as Erica Strange, a woman who begins seeing a therapist to deal with regrets in her life, only to discover the therapist (Michael Riley) has the ability to send her back in time to actually relive these events and even change them."
Also love Outlander for the time travel, polyamory, and historical romance.
@Babichev But were they having fun though? 🤔😜
I would love to take a Magic Schoolbus-type tour of history.
The 1950s … the cars, the music .
Forward to when Earth become a Type 1 Civilization. We currently are a Type 0 Civilization. In theory within the next 100 to 200 years we will either become a Type 1 Civ, or perish. At Type 1, we (humans) would have control over the planet, natural disasters could be unheard of, energy from the planet itself harnessed to give all people energy.
The end of my shift at work
I think I would like to go to the Big Band era to meet and jam with some of the great musicians of that time. Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Charlie Parker, etc.
@MaineCuddle ~ "I would love to take a Magic Schoolbus-type tour of history."
OMG!! I want Magic School Bus meets Magic Tree House!!
Almost... I'm thinking Historical Science... I'd like to experience Ms. Frizzle's passion tied in with the time traveling! So fun!!
@MaineCuddle - Were my great-grandparents having fun? I doubt it. But now that you mention it, when my Croatian grandfather was younger they would go to Croatian dances once a month. Now that would be fun!
I "time travel" pretty often already. 😜
The two that are in black and white, were taken with original cameras. One from the 1860's and one from the 1880's. They're both tintypes.
I portray all classes. I enjoy the incredibly hard work as a lower class person, and get a lot of satisfaction from it. (Yes, I'm even doing it in a corset.) Then sometimes I want to throw a grand dinner party and invite all my friends from across the country, and I do that too.
@mekkiec ~ OMG!! I absolutely LOVE everything about this!!! What a gift you are!! 🥰🥰🥰
@quixotic_life Aww! Thanks!
I'm just a big nerd. 🤓
My childhood.
@cookiecrumb
Yep yep.
I’d give quite a bit to be four years old again, being chased around the front yard by my grandpa, knowing that I‘ll be eating my grandma’s beef stroganoff soon, and then falling asleep on their couch.
@MaineCuddle I love being Erica.
If it's just for a visit I would like to go 30 years into the future. If it's long term I would go thousands of years into the future
@JasonCuddles
If I went thousands of years into the future I would be tossed into whatever passed as a zoo or sideshow there.
“Look, he actually ate Twinkies!”
“This man ‘drove’ in a ‘car’!”
“Imagine what it was like to live in such despair and squalor. Thankfully their lifespans were very short. Despite his appearance, and the terrible wear and tear on his body, he isn’t 245. He’s only 51!”
Being female and a minority with health conditions, I choose to travel thousands of decades into the future. Hopefully there will be plenty of opportunities open to people just like me.
What a fun thread @bassman42 and a super cool pic! I LOVE Back to the Future!
@JoyfulHeart omgosh.... "to the end of my shift" 🤣😂😁
To a future where housework is a thing of the past, they can regrow new teeth and limbs, they have finally cracked the code of weight loss (diets don’t work), scary diseases aren’t a thing and working is completely optional and not a necessity for survival, oh and everyone stops aging as soon as they hit their physical prime. Basically a life where I can lazy to my hearts content and not have to worry about money, my health or appearance.
A time where I could hang with some of the big bad sages like Jesus, Mary MOG or Mary M, Buddha, Mohammed, Rabia, Yeshe, etc.
If you actually manage to find a way there, please take me with you @xandriarain 😂
I wouldn't want to go anywhere too unfamiliar. I would be happy to return to 1999 for an indefinite period of time.
I would keep it simple, go ahead 5 years and get the super bowl winners and scores for every super bowl that hasn’t happened yet and I would come back ready to bet.
