What can I do with my depression

[Deleted User]Shironeko (deleted user)

I'm always consistently depressed. The only time I'm not depress is when I'm cuddling with someone. I don't know what I'm depress about either. Just that I feel like I need to talk. I want to talk. I want cuddles. And cuddling and crying is the only way I feel distress. I know people often say pick up a hobby or sport. I've done it. Tried Swimming, sewing, making Coffee, but it doesn't help. I don't feel like doing them anymore. Nothing makes me interested. I'm so lonely. What else can I do? Because when I don't get cuddles often I'll feel so hurt

  • Shieoneko, please see a qualified medical practitioner who will run some basic tests. Could be something as simple as an undiagnosed chemical or hormonal imbalance, or even a nutritional deficiency or sleep disorder. Many conditions can be be at the root of secondary depression. Or low mood. Best wishes.

  • Also, many people find petting animals to be therapeutic and volunteer at animal shelters.

  • [Deleted User]Shironeko (deleted user)

@sometimes thanks for your replies, but I'm not really sure where I should go check on my depression or anything but I'll look though it, for the animal suggestion, I've always like animals but I do pet some of them, like today I went over to my Friend's house and pet her two dogs and I don't seem to feel better. Feels like I'm dead inside. Thanks anyways :)

I feel the same way, but I have dealt with it for many years, so it's something I've just learned to live with. I have dysthymia which is considered to be a mild depression. Dealing with despicable people at work and school throughout my life caused this. I get my mind thinking about other things by reading and writing. My goal is to be a professional writer. I believe that having goals that are not dependent on others is important. There are people who use others for their own benefit, so I would rather have true friends or no friends at all. Of course, having family members helps relieve loneliness. I don't cuddle much, but I still have to work a full-time job no matter how I feel. I just think about the future and achieving my goals. Going to church seems to help me and churches have meet up groups for different age ranges, so that is also an opportunity to meet people.

@RScarf1 thanks for your reply, I have a goal, but it's not independent. I wished I have a goal that makes me stay motivated and let me work towards it, but sadly mine it's not the kind where I can work hard and then gets it. I work to keep myself busy, have people who I worked with are all kind and good workers. Yet I can't seem to make friends with them, maybe because they don't like me. I never really have friends in life, I'm always the Side Friend when like you don't have friends or partners to be with and they will come look for me, or when they need something from me. I'm so desperate to be noticed, yet it just doesn't work. Thanks for your reply anyways :)

I had one good friend when I was a child and teenager. His friends became my friends, but eventually people sometimes go their separate ways as they get older. If you have a goal that involves other people, that is actually a good way to meet people. As a writer, that is a job that you do alone unless you are collaborating with someone else such as another writer or artist. There are females who write and draw, but I don't meet them that often. I have met a few at comic book conventions which is another place to meet people and these conventions are all over the world now. It's good that you have a good working environment. Just remember to not compromise yourself in order to be friends with someone else because that person may seem like a friend in the beginning, but if they take much more than they give, then they are a user. Users will only talk to you when they need a favor from you. I wish I could have the time and money back that I spent on people who really did not care about me. Even though you are young, don't waste your time. Your time is valuable and use it to improve and meet people who truly respect you and are not users.

@RScarf1 sadly, my goal is pathetic. I wish to be a housewife. Someone who can take care of my child, my Husband, and household items. I don't have a dream job, I used to think that I want to be a kindergarten teacher, sadly I realised that even toddler or kids hates me. (When they see me they hide, run away or hit me

  • I felt the same way. Somebody suggested I should go back to school and learn a new skill. Best decision of my life. I'm an electrical engineer undergraduate major with a minor in mathematics. Keeping my brain active and attending the study groups helped me feel less lonely.

I was a reading teacher and substitute teacher. Being a teacher is very stressful these days. Now I am a librarian. My mom was and is still a housewife and sometimes takes care of a granddaughter now (my sister's daughter, not mine). It is work to take care of the household chores and raising kids. Most women where I live go to college or have some type of training and get careers. Then later they may have kids and become housewives. My mom worked different jobs before she met my dad. Jobs are sometimes not what we think they are, so it is best to talk to others already in the field to decide if it is best for us. Salary and amount of job opportunities in the field can also factor into the decision.

@Mike403 sadly, not for me haha. :) thanks for your reply

  • [Deleted User]Shironeko (deleted user)

    @RScarf1 oh that's interesting :)

  • @Shironeko I don't think having a goal of being a housewife is pathetic at all. A good housewife has to be good with various skills. To achieve your goal, you should work at acquiring all the necessary skills, and hopefully in the pursuit of those skills, you will coincidentally meet the person who will become your husband.

Your habit of sniffing people seems a bit odd, but one I think I would find endearing.

  • Shironeko, you don't have to feel this way. I endured years of chronic depression; none of the antidepressants worked for me. Until Prozac. With Prozac, I slowly but surely began to awaken from the nightmare of major depression. Which is what you have, the words "dead inside" leave little doubt of that. Prozac may not be the answer for you -- but there is an answer for you. You still have hope, or you would not be here, writing; let the hope take control, call 1-800-784-2433. I just called to make sure there's a real live person you can talk to, and there is. You can change today.

I think proper diet and exercise is better than any man-made medication. There can be adverse side effects with drugs and dietary supplements which are natural drugs, so it may be do one good thing, but 10 bad things. Be very careful and do not blindly believe doctors because they are legal drug dealers. God did not create these artificial chemically based drugs.

Thanks for all the replies :)

  • Here’s a site that has a few essays about depression: www.receive-help.com

Hope you feel better soon, Shironeko.

Have you heard about tapping (EFT)? It is pretty good technique to release stress, anxiety, depression, traumas, phobias,etc... you can find more about it here: https://www.thetappingsolution.com/ or just google it.

You can also google Ibogaine treatment or Ayahuasca (amazonian medicine). Both very good for treating depression. I have some experience with Ayahuasca (been to Ayahuasca ceremonies in Peru) and my husband tried Ibogaine treatment. You can PM me if you want and we can chat :-)

I hope that you will find a solution that would work for you and you will be able to live a happy life :-)

    Love and hugs

  • @Mili I second the tapping. I have taught this technique as a means of stress management and coping. Very effective

  • @pmvines That's right. Effective, easy to use anywhere at anytime and it's free :-)

  • @Mili I'm glad you mentioned it too. I was reminded of it and just sent a link about it to a friend who is going through some difficult times. Hopefully it will help.

I suffer from several mental disorders, one especially which is depressive bipolar disorder. My father was never for medication, but it got to the point where it was going to cause me major problems in the future I seemed out a psychologist and it took a couple months until I found the right medication mix to keep me and those around me safe from my disorders. I also removed all toxic people from my lives and researched and wrote things to help me get by.

  • [Deleted User]Shironeko (deleted user)

@nikijay88 well..I don't think I have any toxic ppl around me. I just don't have ppl who cares for me

  • Meditation, crystal healing, helping others, cuddling and using oracle cards for guidance and medical marijuana has been a life changer for me. I reccomend finding something that works for you, something that takes your mind off the negative, and focus on self love, and healing. sending good energy your way!! <3

  • [Deleted User]Shironeko (deleted user)

    We don't have marijuana here

  • No marijuana there? This entire country smells like weed.

  • @nikijay88 - well done 4 keeping it under control - do u find cuddling helps u to control depression & not by using weed?

@Shironeko Please see a qualified medical practitioner, get all of your blood levels checked including Vitamin D, thyroid, and B12. If your doc says you're fit as a fiddle, see a psychiatrist. There are different levels of depression, and it sounds like you're at the point where outside intervention is necessary.

I wish you the best with your journey to healing. <3

  • Something you may want to check into is biofeedback and neurofeedback. I've been doing neurofeedback and I've noticed improvement for my post concussion syndrome - with depression/feeling on edge being one of the issues being one of many symptoms I've been dealing with for years (9 concussions). Biofeedback has been around since the 70's and neurofeedback not as long. A really good alternative to medication for a multitude of issues. Google and Youtube some videos. It is well worth checking out. I can't recommend it enough.

  • To add to my post....Neurofeedback involves using a quantitative EEG to look at all the brain waves and works on correcting the problematic ones by creating new or alternate neuro pathways.
