What is something that has changed your life for the better?

I'm sure there is a lot we can teach each other.... Being an unconventional student, I'd like to hear everything about everything

Letting go of certain people / embracing others / stepping out of my comfort zone and not waiting / not making myself forever available / speaking up when the time requires it / finding true passion & fully embracing it / believing in myself / not being afraid to fail / helping others with what I know & learning from what they know … at the core of it all still remaining to be that same person I was when I was 5 / 7 / 12 / 15 ect just had to learn to adapt.

  • @Ahmedali999 Cuddling has changed my life for the better as well. I would like to post somthing like your story too. You have been inspiration to me about sharing your ideas on this platform despite any criticism you may receive.

  • Meditation and a practice of non judgement... I have so much more grace for others when I can withhold judgement of their actions and instead investigate what need they are trying to meet. Marshall Rosenberg's books on nonviolent communication and Tara Brach's podcast!

  • @craM you should share, it's not good if someone has knowledge or story and not sharing with others, learning from peopl stories very useful for others, about how to be patient, hopeful, ambitious, ect there are peopl learnt from other peoples stories how to be successful for example 🤗

@cuddles_ndream 👏👏 awesome, I wish to learn to be like you
•Embracing others , (I'm not lonely, lonely someone looking for friends, I'm very isolated person, keep away from people just little interactions ) only I communicate in comments 🤣
•not making my self available for ever
    •speaking up when time require,
    •believe in myself,
    •not afraid of fail
    😁 I'm the opposite

  • For life, in general, this quote from Epictetus has been one I keep coming back to every time:

    "First say to yourself what you would be;
and then do what you have to do."
    Epictetus

  • Ty @Ahmedali999 🌌 & nothing special about me, I still feel bad when I have to speak up / I still get nervous when I want to do something & friends are not available & I don’t want to miss out / I still second guess myself when opening up to new people in my personal life because you truly don’t know somebody until you allow time to show you who they are or for them to show themselves, and if I don’t risk failure & try to avoid it, I will never realize the potential reward … before I just lived (& found comfort) in my shell 🐚 🤪 lol

  • Being willing to fail is the hardest but the most rewarding thing. Thinking of it as an opportunity cost vs sunk cost is one way to change thought process over time.

  • Daily meditation.

  • @MCcuddles2 what sort of meditation if you don't mind ? And how it changed your life?

  • Taking responsibiility over my authority and not taking responsibility for other's authority!

I went from being a victim of my circumstances, staying in my cage out of comfort rather than taking ownership and developing in the areas I had no confidence.

Cuddling and owning my own business has helped tremendously as my biggest fear was interacting with people - there's no way around this activity if one is after great experiences, opportunities, and authentic connections! I thought I needed substances to connect with others and in doing so I put myself in dangerous situations, embarassed myself and didn't live according to my values.

Now I'm growing confidence through each experience and re-associating experiences as positives as I navigate situations to both challenge myself and ensure my safety/comfort.

My dad's health has declined in recent months, he has brain damage from being a lifelong alcoholic/drug user and emphyesema at age 50. It's still sad and I feel empathy but the old me would use this opportunity to drown in sorrow. Nowadays I recognize that only his choices led him to this outcome. I feel determined not to waste my life ruminating on past trauma like he was and I previously was.

Just sitting there, focusing on the breath.

I've been doing it for almost twelve years.

Usually do about ten minutes, have done up to an hour before. I use an app for timing.

Typically, in daily life, when something happens to you, you react.

Meditation trains you to pay attention to what is happening inside you head.

So, in your daily life, when things happen, instead of reacting immediately you learn have a little space in between where you get to choose your reaction.

It also results in being more calm overall.

    My daughter.

  • CoDependents Anonymous. I attended meetings for several years. It made a huge difference in my life. Before that, I took too much responsibility for other people, ignored red flags in relationships. I learned a lot about the difference between being helpful and enabling, started making much healthier decisions in my relationships.

@MCcuddles2 , research has shown that as little as 10 - 15 minutes of mindful meditation five days a week can cause a positive shift in brain waves, reducing those associated with anxiety and increasing those associated with calm alertness. Meditation is not for everyone. For some people it triggers some very negative reactions but it’s something easily available, costs nothing.

This article from Harvard has some basic instructions. Scroll down to “Mindfulness meditation made easy.”

  • @MCcuddles2 ok i did something similar with a therapist as> > @Babichev mentioned

reducing those associated with anxiety and increasing those associated with calm alertness.

But I didn't follow it, i should have practice it regularly, it's like breathing, focusing on breathing, senses, and sounds ,Psychologists ues it to treat anxiety ect.
My cuddle therapist send me this video it's useful.

  • "The Problem of Pain" by C.S. Lewis

  • Follow up question:

    Being willing to fail....

You know you've failed, several times over....but continue to try. . .

Where is the line between perseverance IN heeding the call of your soul, vs INSANITY....?
WHEN DO YOU ACCEPT FAILURE AS FAILURE, AND CHOOSE A DIFFERENT PATH?
WHAT IF DEEP DOWN FAILURE ISN'T AN OPTION, BUT YOU HAVE LITERALLY ZERO IDEA HOW TO PICK UP THE PIECES AND FIND ANOTHER ROUTE TO THE SAME DESTINATION?

@CuddlesByDeep Nice quote! Is it from his work "Enchiridion?"

  • @05vita21lov21 I haven't read through Enchiridion, but I believe this quote I remember from when I read "The Discourses" way back when.

Joining this website. Ive met people i never thought existed. My life’s changing for the better and since joining I feel absolutely revitalized! The first month already has been quite a ride but ive got a long way to go getting where i want to be in life.

  • Learning how to set boundaries has changed my life incredibly.

  • @cuddlesbyaubrey looking back through the thread, that was beautifully said.

  • Only surrounding myself with good people/friends, who actually care about me.

Mushrooms in high doeses. Forcing myself to confront myself without an ability to control the outcome. I just have to deal with the sh*t I put off daily.
