Hey someone has to say it. Otherwise we have to feel like something is wrong with US when the perversion this particular holiday ritual has become can drive any sane person bonkers even under the best circumstances. My favorite part to nix is the buying crap for people who are brimming with it and go from there. There are plenty of other days in the year to be generous and give gifts because they're moving, have powerful symbolism, or the recipient can 😯 actually use it. Don't let yourself be manipulated by our crazy society and Zales commercials friends.

True Lol, its crazy how a Christmas story will forever be shown on Christmas & leading up to it / same way as Mariah Carey’s “all I want for Christmas” song.

All happy and joyful here looking at the positives. I'm with OP, stay home and watch TV/game... Like every other day.
But of course nothing wrong with any of those above if that's what makes you happy as well.
In my adult life, it's always just been another day for me. Especially 4th of July and other holidays like that... Like if I want to drink and BBQ...I'ma do it more than once a year.

I'm looking forward to it on the 27th and 28th. Two kids and a daughter-in-law on the 27th, and the other son and daughter-in-law on the 28th.
I’m joining this discussion now that today, my 17yr old and 21 yr old let me know they would be spending Christmas in the mountains. It will be the first Christmas I’ll spend without them. I’m going to try and stay busy the next 4 to 5 days to keep my mind off of it. I’m ready for 2022.
