Would it be a deal breaker if your cuddle partner doesn't have the COVID vaccine?

Lets say you reach out to a potential cuddle partner, you start talking with that person, and determine that they are ideal for a cuddle encounter as an enthusiast or a Pro and on the very last minute you discover they aren't vaccinated. Would that be a deal breaker for you?

Would it still be a deal breaker if that person wears a KN-95 mask, works strictly from home, and follows all proper sanitary recommendations?

I completely respect others if they wish to be vaccinated and require others to be vaccinated and / or masked up … I’m vaccinated but not by choice, & had it on my profile when I wasn’t vaccinated (as I know it is important for certain cuddlers) & after I got it, I updated my profile to show that I finally was, while showing I wasn’t happy about it & to send the message that I don’t care for of require it from a cuddle buddy.

This wouldn't be a "last minute" thing for me, given that Covid 19 is kinda a huge deal that affects everyone; I would be amazed and astounded if it didn't pop up during a regular conversation.

If I found out that a person who I'd been chatting with was an anti-vaxxer/potential Herman Cain award recipient, I would stop talking to them—possibly after mocking them relentlessly.

Of course, they might have a legit medical reason for not getting vaccinated. In my experience, those are extremely rare.

  • Would I cuddle someone willing to harm others for the sake of their own ego? No.

Would I cuddle someone who can't reduce their likelihood of carrying a deadly or crippling virus? Again, no—but in this case because it's safer for both of us that way.

And what if they wear a KN-95 mask, work strictly from home, and follow all proper sanitary recommendations? Ah, allow me to help with those sanitary recommendations: stay at least six feet away from me!

It'a deal breaker, yes. And you know what? If I risked the vaccine, so can you.

  • Very interesting. @InvestorLogic now has a job according to his profile. He used to say he was unemployed. Living on your own now too? How’s the parkour coming along?

    How's the thesis coming along?

How did I know who the OP would be even before clicking on the thread....

Also, @cuddles_ndream, your profile still states that you are unvaccinated and have no intention to get vaccinated.

  • @BuggleBear @cuddles_ndream also updated it: “ update -received my 2nd Covid shot yesterday 9-28-21”.

Which is good. Herd immunity and good science is going to save us. Vaccines got rid of polio and smallpox. It’ll get rid of this too.

  • [Deleted User]DeadGirlWalking (deleted user)

Ah, I feel it would have been less misleading to update #7 in that instance. I, like many others, I assume, got as far as that and stopped reading.

  • @BuggleBear yes. They need a copy editor. :)

  • If the person were to wear an N95 mask, worked from home, and I could verify that they hadn't gone out shopping or cuddled with anybody else in the previous ten days, I might consider it.

  • [Deleted User]Gabriel2k (deleted user)

Hmm.. for those of you that have cuddled with someone new recently. Have you asked for proof of vaccinations? Or do you take their word as proof?

Deal breaker? Yes. Definitely. If we aren't on the same team, wtf am I even doing? Lol

  • I cuddled with a pro who tested positive for covid a couple days after I cuddled with her and I never got sick.

  • I do not care what my cuddle partner's vaccination status is because it is a personal health choice and I am comfortable with the risk regardless. It also doesn't matter to me whether they wear a mask or quarantine beforehand.

  • I can’t help but notice the judgmental attitudes expressed on this thread. The OP simply asked whether it would be a deal breaker if a potential cuddle partner were unvaxxed - a pretty simple question. Currently, out of 26 responses, 50% of respondents (including me) are willing to cuddle unvaxxed cuddle partners without a mask.

What disappoints me is how several responses immediately turned to bashing the unvaccinated with comments such as “mocking them relentlessly” or describing them as potential “Herman Cain Award recipients”. That last comment speaks volumes about feelings held toward an accomplished black leader who made a personal healthcare decision the commenter disagreed with. I am genuinely curious, has anyone been handing out “Prince Awards” to people who died from an opioid overdose? Personally, I would consider it rude and hateful at best (and racist at worst) to mock his memory by naming such an award after him, but that is just my opinion. I am sure someone, much more virtuous than me, can justify mocking the dead if it is done for the right reason.

“If I risked the vaccine so can you” - I have no idea what this means. Over the past year I have heard countless times from medical experts, politicians, celebrities, and “fact checkers” that the vaccine is “safe and effective.” We all know the only people who talk about potential risks of the vaccine are anti-science, conspiracy theorists spreading dangerous misinformation. So what exactly did you risk by getting a safe vaccine?

Everyone can cuddle with, or refrain from cuddling with anyone they choose. I would just like to see a little more civility and tolerance on the forums here.

I think it shouldn’t really matter. The vaccine has not shown any ability to stop transmission of the disease, only to mitigate symptoms for those who receive it. It’s truly sad that our government and some business are trying to coerce people into taking it when they could send it to other countries that want the vaccine and can’t get it.

  • I picked option number 2. We're all sick of COVID. Most people are vaccinated or have natural immunity. And don't cuddle in a mask, come on. BTW, I'm still waiting on my Free at home testing kits from the current administration. Anyone else?

  • edited February 2022

@BuggleBear before you make a false accusation read the entire profile.

Edit: Next time don’t assume, especially for others!

  • Im vaxxed so it doesnt bother me if my cuddle partner is not. Either way how does this person harm me if im vaxxed?
Besides even if vaxxed i can still get and transmit the virus though its less effective on me.
I dont care, their body their body right? Or at least thatsvwht i have always been told.
And i also agree that was a nasty comment about Herman Cain and unvaxxed people.
For someone who clims to advocate for the marginalized or is it only marginalized groups you care about? Guess black lives dont matter to you unless they share your ideology?
nd guess what i didnt flag your comment because im an adult i cn call it out without hitting that flag button like so many people do. Why the venom and vitriol? I am so sorry that people are so angry and unhapoy in their lives they get pleasure from mocking and denugrating a very accomplished man and one of color.
    @JohnR1972 agreed!

  • [Deleted User]DeadGirlWalking (deleted user)

@cuddles_ndream, it wasn't an assumption, it was based on the information YOU gave on your profile. It's not my fault you don't know how to edit profile text so that it's representative of the current situation. Like I said, I got as far as 'I'm not vaccinated and don't intend to be' and stopped reading, as I'm sure most sane people who value themselves and others would.

  • edited February 2022

@JohnR1972 💯!!! when I wasn’t vaccinated, I stated it in my profile so that anyone who might have been a potential cuddler could decide to say no (instead of withholding this info or lying about it) which I’m sure many do, & people still have dumb things to say 😅

  • “If I risked the vaccine so can you” - I have no idea what this means.

I think it is blatantly obvious what it means. It is a reply to someone who doesn’t want to get vaccinated on the grounds “that it is risky”. He is saying as someone who has health issues that he risked it so can you. Common misinformation out there is this disease only attacks the weak and it is risky. He is turning those arguments against people who believe that. You may not agree, but his statement is not that nebulous as you are pretending.

@Snuggler21685 💯 the fact that congress was not (& will not) be mandated speaks volumes … something about the executive branch not having the power to do so 🤔, and they have an honor system which expects most in congress have taken it, but when asked, virtually all those elected officials have the same answer / reply , (I refuse to say wether I took the vaccine or not) because they know that either answer comes with their set of problems from the people that voted them in, or their own personal stance … once again, I don’t care, I actually encourage those that want to take it to plz take it, do what’s best you & your family , if you need a ride to a vaccine facility and I’m free that day & you’re nearby I’ll take you … stop expecting others to do do what you want, do as you wish, don’t expect it from others.

  • @Libra0 I got 2 free tests from the USPS. In Texas the grocery store pharmacy in HEB has been giving away 3 free KN95 masks.

I’m sick of Covid too which is why I’m being careful.

  • This thread is headed for a lock down.

Play nice, or stay silent, people.

  • [Deleted User]Zundar (deleted user)

If they had a very very recent COVID test result that showed they didn't have it then I might be alright cuddling with someone who wasn't vaccinated, but I'd largely say I wouldn't be confident enough in them not having it or following proper guidelines for it otherwise (unless they had a medical reason for not getting the vaccine of course).

I'm immunocompromised so it's something I'd take extra seriously.

  • [Deleted User]WriterGF (deleted user)

I don't really see where anything good is going to come from a topic that is almost certainly going to turn into debates about an unfortunately divisive topic. If someone chooses to cuddle or not cuddle someone who is unvaccinated, that is their personal choice. Outside of people who may want to cuddle with them, I don't see where it is anyone else's business or why the OP feels the need to know.
