I was wondering how the rise in price of gas has affected pro cuddling activities , for clients and pros .
So far, it’s pretty normal for me. I haven’t changed my prices for travel. I’ve had a few cuddlers give me a bit extra when I drove to them, but nothing substantial has changed 👍🏻👍🏻
I asked a pro cuddler in my area if she could come over to me for a session which was about a 30 minute drive each way (estimated) and I was gonna rent a hotel and I asked her if she would give me some extra time because of the expense. She not only declined to give me extra time but also said she would have to charge me a travel fee and specifically mentioned the high cost of gas as the reason. Now I want to make clear that all our conversations were extremely nice and cordial, she seems like a very nice person and I don’t fault her in any way for declining my offer. The reason I bring this up is because the OP poses a pretty good question and in my opinion fuel price has changed pro cuddling. Another cuddler declined a similar proposal but she only said no to the extra time part, she didn’t mention a travel fee.
Today, I had a client tell me he hadn't seen me in a while because of gas prices. Before the pandemic, I had clients regularly drive long distances and book hotels to see me. These days I regularly encounter people who say 45 minutes is too far even though I now have an office to host and are unwilling to pay for a hotel if I come out their way. I feel a bit squeezed because clients seem to be pulling back due to financial concerns, and I can't afford to lower my rates, given inflation. My rates are all-inclusive, so I am taking a hit with the rising costs in fuel, but thankfully, I host most of my sessions, so I haven't felt too of an impact with gas prices going up.
I turned down a few potential clients who asked me to travel over 40 miles with no travel compensation. With gas being $5/gallon now in my area, having to go 80 miles is more than a few dollars, so I'm saying no.
