Messaging pros?

Hello I'm not sure if this was discussed anywhere else, as I couldn't find it, but I was just wondering if it's ever ok to message a pro in a similar friendly manner as one would with an enthusiast. Because I've seen some very nice pros here on the forum but don't want to bother them or waste their time if a booking in the near future doesn't seem possible. I know maybe some might have differing opinions, so I was just curious. Sometimes I am hoping to start a friendship with them, but don't want to upset anyone or be labeled a time waster. Oddly enough, if we did strike up a friendship I'd be wanting to book a cuddle even more, but I appreciate when someone is honest and genuine. I am always saying I wish I could teleport and be rich so I could instantly go anywhere and meet cuddlers (pros and enthusiasts). 🙂

    Your results will vary.
Some pros welcome friendships while others are strictly business only.
I'm in the middle. While I don't have much downtime to chat, if I feel we have similar interests I may exchange a few messages to see if we are compatible for future cuddles, but daily or weekly chats are very unlikely. We deal with alot of time wasters, people looking for a pen pal companion under the guise of booking later or a romantic relationship.

It helps to read profiles to see which pros welcome friendly messages without the pressure of booking, these pros tend to make it clear that they are open to chatting.

  • I can only speak for me personally but I do appreciate when someone messages me and says I like your profile or something like that. Makes me happy. Endless messaging with no true intention to meet though can be a bit much. I prefer to make friends and get better acquainted with those I will be cuddling soon or in the future. I am a busy single mom so I don't really have extra time for too much chit chat but I try for those that I know are interested in a session with me.

  • Thanks for the input. 😊 @Rezz Oh I almost always read a profile before I ever message anyone (several times usually as I'm sometimes shy and not sure how to start a conversation in messages, so it takes me some time to think of something. Unless I just use a generic how are you.)
However sometimes it's not entirely clear on a profile, especially if it only has a sentence or two written, is blank (yes I've seen pros with blank profiles surprisingly), or just isn't addressed. That's what inspired me to ask here.

  • A useful point to consider is, what do you have to say to the person that might interest them? For example, if they have made a post in the forum, and you have a response more appropriate for a PM than a public post, then by all means send a message.

And in any event, make sure your reason for writing is clear.

“ make sure your reason for writing is clear”

100%! In fact all of my favorite people make their intention very clear. This is advice to FOLLOW.

Yes, but pros all operate differently. Just me: It's nice if you state up front that you're not looking for a session, but just wanting to say/ask____.

Because I get a lot of people messaging from all over and out of the country who are never coming to Maine and never intend to request pro services or they ask for inappropriate things or comment on my picture.

While I don't want endless chit chat that will ultimately go no where, I really don't mind messages commenting on or wanting to continue a discussion from the forums, or commenting on something you noticed in my profile that we have in common or a question.

I won't respond to compliments or profile suggestions or just "hi, how are you?" or do you do/allow something that's not allowed in TOS. I'll respond to pretty much anything else, but not necessarily in the next 5 minutes or 5 hours.

  • I’ve made many amazing friends by responding to people that message me or that I’ve sent a greeting to when they visited my profile. There may be a chance we may not meet, but that’s okay. It doesn’t take that much of my time to respond. Pros or non pros, I feel like we could make forever friends here that have many common interests. That’s my input. 🙂

I do message pros if it I visit their profile, and something about it strikes me, and I would be interested in booking a session with them sometime in the future (I like what I read, they fall in my price range, etc.) It's often just to start a conversation, and if they do visit my profile, they will know that I hire pros from time to time and also gives them an opportunity to share if they think we are a good fit. I usually visit profiles based on the forum comments, sometimes to learn more about a poster or to understand where they are coming from. One person (not a pro, thanks goodness) blocked me for just visiting their profile, but in all most interactions are friendly and well received.

  • I wonder if anyone can advise me on an aspect of Pro Communication: How long should one expect to wait to hear from a pro, once you've requested a booking? I'm sure it varies but...for a pro I imagined a response in a day or two. What have your experiences been? Should I wonder if it's "me"? (I think I was polite, genuine, and certainly non-sexual in my note...so I don't think I crossed a line...but I'm feeling uncertain.

@Tbearsmall I respond the day I receive a request. I usually need information before accepting, but never respond later than 24 hours. Everyone’s situation is different, depending on family situation etc. I’m at a place that I don’t need to delay in response.

@Tbearsmall your imagination is correct. If you haven't heard back after a day or two, you probably won't. Again, this is absolutely nothing to do with you. The response rate when messaging random professionals is low, and may be under 50%.

I wrote a post about this the other day ... wait .... here we are. The question was something to do with rate.

Professionals' prices are, from the clients' perspective, essentially random. That is to say, there is no general correlation between price and anything. Each professional sets the rate that works for them.

Most professionals have other sources of income other than cuddling. Some want to do as much cuddling as possible, for others it's an occasional thing. Both use rate as a way of controlling the frequency of sessions. This is all entirely right and proper, but it can give rise to a certain amount of confusion in new clients.

For you, I would suggest a maximum rate you are comfortable with, and then forget about it. Conventional wisdom that you get what you pay for does not apply to cuddling. IF there is any connection between price and quality, anecdotal evidence is clear that it is inverse. The lower the rate, the better the experience.

There is no infallible way of choosing a professional, and that's even before you get to the question of will you click when you meet. However, anecdotal evidence suggests that the risks to a new client are slightly reduced by the following characteristics. In no particular order they are: lots of Karma; well written profile of at least three paragraphs; thoughtful photo set; mid-twenties or older; completion of a cuddling training course; background in a caring profession; login within the last week (and every week); long time on the site; good responses to your questions; and good posts on the forum. Obviously there are numerous exceptions to all of these, it's the pattern you are looking for. (I know one lovely and amazing professional whose pre-session communication is, by her own admission, atrocious.)

what is the difference between someone who charges $65/hr and someone who charges $200/hr?

From your perspective, nothing. But (money aside) hire the 65 one. There is a very slight chance it will be a better experience.

  • I'm always happy to hear from other members. I appreciate it if they make their intentions clear though. 😊 If they aren't looking to book, they can still message me, we can chat. 🫂

Well it's funny that the pros who are actually regularly from my area sometimes have taken longer to reply than the ones out of state. At least in my experience. Or we'll have a few back and forth, and I'm trying to schedule something, but then don't hear back within the same week. But I am enjoying the conversations I'm having now anyway, whether or not there's anything planned.
As far as being clear, sometimes I just really would like to talk to and get to know a person, and then when I feel like we have a good rapport (or possibly friendship), it makes me change my mind and want to schedule a booking. So I might go in initially without wanting to schedule something, then I end up wanting to and hoping they might someday travel to the area (or wishing I could teleport.). Though there have been times (with locals) that I did just get to the point of trying to schedule something, as I felt like I didn't want to be a bother or waste their time with my talking.
There is an out of state pro I've been talking to since I think I joined in march who won't be here until July, but I'm looking forward to that and glad we've had actual conversation.

Hope that wasn't too much or too confusing.
Long story short: I'd like to talk to more and not necessarily want to make a booking at that moment, but then after getting to know someone, that desire to book sometimes comes in. Not trying to be deceptive.

  • I treat pros the same way I treat anyone else on the forum.
