The Ultimate Cuddle Buddy Hookup

Just a curiosity here-pondering as I wait for the cable guy.
This site is for platonic cuddle searches, nearly all of us understand that. We know that some people think of it as a dating site, but they don’t stick with the CuddleComfort crowd for long.
But there is the human nature side to platonicity. I’m not sure that is a word, but it is now.
We have heard and read in the forums about a partner whose platonic intentions get lost as they develop some romantic interest, or at least fantasy, surrounding a cuddle partner. I’ve read a lot about how cuddlers handle this, how they avoid it, etc. But I’ve also read a couple of people say that they converted a platonic cuddling relationship to a friendship, usually after talking it thru, setting new ground rules, etc.
But the have to be at least a few cuddle pairs where Cupid couldn’t keep his tiny pink nose out of it, and both developed romantic feelings, and took their relationship from platonic, to dating. I’m wondering I’d there is a statistic at Cuddle Comfort, like at eHarmony or Match, for the number of couples who met here and ended up married to each other. I’m guesding the number is VERY low, but it might be interesting to hear some stories.

I can only speak for myself, but I haven't developed any romantic relationships but I have developed some deep friendships. I think we probably all have. I love this topic though. It's very interesting. While I haven't developed a "romantic" relationship I HAVE developed a "cuddle crush". He knows who he is, as I actually call him "Cuddle Crush"! lol... As you said, human nature took over. When things moved beyond platonic I obviously stopped charging him and now strictly see him personally. The title of this thread actually made me laugh out loud... The Ultimate Cuddle Hookup!

  • There was a CC profile of a couple who met on this site and after a few messages went ahead and set up a cuddle meet and a few hours after that they were married and set off to seeing the country together. They put all that info on their profile and that's how I remember it. And I'm sure that kind of stuff happens all the time but it doesn't get reported because people that enter into relationships here don't want to advertise that fact. I also have read a few women profiles where they state that they are not looking for any new cuddle buddies because they have a cuddle partner (that they found here) so that is another indicator in my eyes.

  • The only barrier really I can see is when you are a paid cuddler as anything construed as sexual can be seen as prostitution. But when 2 consenting adults hang out and there is chemistry, regardless of context or frame of reference, who can blame them and why question it. Some people on here can be quite judgmental and think anybody who is on here and develops feelings should be shunned. I'm not that Puritanical. It is one thing to come on here with the intent of finding a relationship, however if you are not here for that purpose and it just happens, you cant really fault nature for what happens organically. I have met some pretty amazing people on here. Nobody who I have really had romantic feelings for, but if it did ever go that direction, I may be open to it although I question the sanity of anybody who would have romantic feelings for me!

  • I doubt anyone is keeping track of that information, however I think it would be safe to assume that it's less than what would happen with friends that are each attracted to the gender the other person is. With friends you already know you get along well. With a cuddle partner you may get along while cuddling but you won't necessarily get along with them in different circumstances well enough to hang out in a non-cuddle scenario.

  • I'd feel pretty weird cuddling with someone who I wasn't comfortable with enough to hang out with.

  • Yeah maybe. I have no experience with cuddling so I guess I am not in a position to talk about it.
