Here's a thread from earlier this year where a lot of people took a stab at answering that question. My answer now would be largely unchanged from the one I gave back then.

  • Having read @quietman775 's post in the previous discussion, it is hard to come up with something better.
The only thing I might add is that while love conversations both deep and more trivial, I think having a true connection someone so that even long periods of silence are shared effortlessly between us.
I've also seen some cuddlers state lately that they love to cuddle while being read to and I love that idea. To be have someone sidled up tome with their head on my chest while I read a book they've been enjoying lately or a favorite passage from a beloved novel seems like it would be a little slice of heaven to me.

Your question is a great start for discussion @cuddlebugTM, let's not let it die. Any other enthusiasts want to chime in here?

My favourite cuddler, a professional (Sandy8), is very sweet ... the first time we met publicly she had a bottle of water for me (since it was a hot day), which was very thoughtful.

The next session I went straight to her place and she came out the front to meet me with a hug, which was a lovely way to be greeted.

I'm new to this and still a bit touch starved, so after catching up for a minute or two I like to lie down and cuddle more or less straight away. Medium lighting is nice - not bright, but enough to see her face clearly!

Up until now we've cuddled without music, thought maybe we'll do that later. We talk over half the time, but moments of quiet can be nice. In the first session especially, we talked very affectionately with each other - about favourite memories, animals, places visited ... I felt embraced emotionally as well as physically. :-)

As for the cuddle ... I love being face to face, and squeezing tight sometimes. Touching skin like arms, neck and shoulders is awesome. She likes her neck being stroked, and lightly touching the small of her back - and running my hand all the way from her shoulder down her back. (I'm saying what she likes too because I like doing it!). Touching toes is also fun.

She also isn't too strict about the time, which I really appreciate.

For me an ideal cuddle session involves: knowing what each other likes without having to say; understanding nonverbal cues (like a movement that means, "that was lovely but it's enough for now"); being given their full attention (no interruptions); being able to just receive sometimes, but also being able to give; responsiveness (I love genuine reactions to something I do!); an emotional connection (talking affectionately); safety (no worries about boundaries).
