I have several that are vocal music related. Some may be common knowledge.
-For women, the voice types are soprano, mezzo soprano, and contralto. For men, the voice types are tenor, baritone, and bass. Men who sing higher than the tenor range are referred to as countertenors.
-True contraltos and true basses are quite rare. Most women and men with lower voices are low mezzos or low baritones.
-In choral music, voices are characterized as soprano, alto, tenor, and bass. Sometimes, the voices are divided, divisi in musical terms. 1s take the higher part and 2s take the lower part. Soprano 1, soprano 2, alto 1, alto 2, etc.
-When in a choir, the 6 voice types will be placed as follows: *Sopranos- soprano 1 *Mezzo Sopranos- soprano 2 or alto 1 *Contraltos- alto 2 or tenor 1 *Tenors- tenor 1 *Baritones- tenor 2 or bass 1 *Basses- bass 2
-The average singer is most comfortable in their mid range. Therefore, most women are mezzo sopranos and most men are baritones.

The potato chip was act of vengeance.
The story is that one George Crum, born George Speck around 1828 of American Indian and African American heritage, invented potato chips in 1853 when he was a chef at Moon’s Lake House Restaurant in Saratoga Springs, New York.

A picky customer sent his French fries back to the kitchen because they were too thick and mushy. Crum responded by making a new batch, cutting the potatoes as thin as possible, frying them in oil until they were crisp and dousing them with a good measure of salt. And voila! The snack, later dubbed Saratoga Chips, was an immediate hit among the well-to-do customers in this upper New York state resort town.
Some reports name railroad and shipping magnate Cornelius Vanderbilt (1794-1877) as the finicky customer. Descended from Dutch settlers who came to this continent in the 1600s, the Vanderbilt family was apparently still giving American Indians a hard time some 200 years later.
George Speck aka George Crum was born to an African American father and American Indian mother, possibly from the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe, one of the nations of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy.
George Crum is credited with inventing one of the world’s most popular snack foods, potato chips.
