@AGnihon - I've been to so many concerts and festivals this year that I lost count. Haven't been sick yet. If I do catch something, being bed ridden for a few days isn't the end of the world.
@AGnihon - I want to add that I am vaccinated and boosted against COVID, so I took that precaution... but will not stop living my life.
@Mike403 I guess that's your choice. I personally, am not willing to sacrifice a single day of productivity and I am someone who can't handle being bedridden all day. I absolutely hate feeling like I am missing out while the whole world is getting things done in the middle of the day. My goal, although unrealistic, is to to never get sick again. It has been nice not even getting a cold in the last 2.5 years.
@AGnihon - Watch that video of George Carlin that i posted earlier in this thread. I haven't been sick in about 15 years. I never take any precautions with germs and have eaten food that has fallen on the floor.

If by "gay sex" you mean anal sex, I disagree. Anal sex, which is much more common between gay male couples than straight couples, is far riskier for transmitting AIDS than vaginal sex, but calling it a gay disease isn't logical and it is dangerous. Many in the African-American community believed early on that COVID and AIDS were white diseases and they didn't have to worry about it. Myths like this get people to let their guard down when they shouldn't.

@Mike403 There is definitely some truth to that, but natural immunity is only part of the solution.
Viruses are not always named after the place where they were first detected. In fact, I can only think of one off the top of my head, the Spanish flu. The whole “China virus” thing was a racist slur meant to deflect attention from the lack of response here in the U.S. I never heard the term used by people of all political spectrums, only one narrow xenophobic segment of the population.
I’m glad to see that there are people who understand the difference between a sexually transmitted infection and an infection that is transmitted by direct contact. Thank you, scientifically literate voices of reason.
Apparently there have been cases where a person had only a single lesion. That answers my own question about it spreading since no one in their right mind would engage in close contact with someone who had lesions all over their body.
@Babichev we don't yet know that it can only spread after the lesions appear. They are still looking into whether it can spread just before the lesions appear just like how you can spread covid before you have any symptoms. That's why it's good even on this site before you cuddle with a guy to know if they have been a close contact with someone who tested positive or not because we don't always know these answers yet.

I have heard everyone from Trump to CNN to Bill Maher to Dr Fauci refer to COVID as China or Wuhan virus . There are many viruses and diseases named after places. I read an article once that named at least 20. Anyone can research it.
@JohnfromVienna I stand corrected. Those are reputable sources. The point is still then that it can happen in either situation, even if more often among gay men, so it still shouldn't be stigmatized. It was also not thought of as an East Asian disease because so few in East Asia comparatively were getting covid compared to those in the west. However, there actually is some scientific evidence which shows part of that immunity might actual be genetic as more Asian populations have a protein with T-cell immunity, or something like that. I will attach an article on that below. So ironic considering those on the right called it the China virus. @Midnight01 there is a different between naming a virus after an entire country and culture and just naming it after a city or town without including the provocative word "virus." Strain is basically a different way that medical experts might say variant.

@snugbuddy It is not a double standard at all. Calling it a China virus is much more hateful and bigoted! Anybody who likes at all Asian is targeted and it doesn't just affect one culture or country's people, but others like them. Naming it after a city has no comparable effect.
