Did you have a better experience having a cuddle session or going on a date?

Just curious 🤷‍♂️

  • Cuddle session

  • People still date?

  • @latinavip I respect your opinion and why is that?

    Cuddle session, most definitely.

Though, to be honest, I don’t date. And while both can be fun, their purposes are very different.

They’re two completely separate things so this seems like a strange question. I don’t test boundaries in a cuddle session where on a date I just might. Am I wrong???

  • This question disturbed me, so I spent a few moments thinking about why.

It's because meeting for a cuddle session is much more like meeting somebody for business reasons than it is a date.

So I'm with @WinterSoldierzz: I find it a strange question. And that's even before we get to the problem of how on earth could you meaningfully compare them.

What's the thought process behind this, @Saav_? What's the context?

  • [Deleted User]Gabriel2k (deleted user)

I don't understand why this question is so disturbing. From having a very limited cuddling experience, I too would be curious to hear other people's opinions on which of the 2 experiences has been more rewarding or meaningful to them.

There are a lot of different, and meaningful ways to compare acts so different, that yet have so many things in common. Both can involve meeting strangers for the first time, there's a connection between both parties (even though both are totally different experiences), you still have boundaries to respect and navigate. They also involve a lot of communication, and in both situations you are putting yourself in an emotionally vulnerable position.

  • I've never gone on a date (cf. my upbringing), but I have been to see a psychologist. Meeting a stranger for the first time, check; connection between both parties, check; boundaries to respect and navigate, check; a lot of communication, check; emotionally vulnerable position, check.

Gotta say, I much prefer cuddling. Less intimate, more immediately beneficial.

  • Apples and oranges. Not all dates are the same; not all cuddle sessions are the same.

  • [Deleted User]WriterGF (deleted user)

It's apples and oranges. The expectations and pressures are totally different between the two, not to mention since one is completely platonic by nature, the only potential future relationship is maybe a friendship.

  • @Gabriel2k

I don't understand why this question is so disturbing.

Because they are so wildly different. And because any connection between cuddling and sex is always creepy unless the cuddling is explicitly in the context of a sexual relationship.

Date - hope or expectation of sex in due course; expectation of nudity, a thing which is excluded in ordinary everyday public life; possibility of a lifelong relationship; possibility of having children together

Cuddle/Business meeting - none of the above

For example, recently I went on a first date. We met for lunch. I've done that quite a number of times on dates. I've done it even more times for business. I've never done it for cuddling.

Both can involve meeting strangers for the first time, there's a connection between both parties (even though both are totally different experiences), you still have boundaries to respect and navigate. They also involve a lot of communication, and in both situations you are putting yourself in an emotionally vulnerable position.

Yes, but that's also true of meeting for business. And even more true of meeting a psychotherapist.

Cuddling is a platonic activity. So is meeting for business. So is meeting an internet gaming buddy for the first time, and a million other reasons why you would meet somebody for the first time. Why is the OP bolting cuddling to the only one of all those million reasons that involves sex?

The answer of course is because lots of people associate cuddling and sex. I don't understand why: they're not similar, if anything they are opposites.

When do we cuddle in our society? Mothers with new born babies. Sportspeople after scoring. Bereaved friends. Soldiers with dying buddies. Pets. If you find any of these things sexual, well, I'm sure there's a website for you out there somewhere, but it isn't this one.

  • I agree @Gabriel2k. This is not a disturbing question at all, and why someone would find it disturbing is puzzling. But the answer, if you have run the gamut through experience, is unanswerable. If a date is rousingly successful and you both seem like soul mates there is a release of endorphins that can leave you craving that feeling the rest of your life. But most dates are not like that. But the few that are are like brilliant diamonds fully formed out of the earth. If one has never felt that then it is very easy to say a cuddle session. But if you have felt that the feeling can be as intense and addicting as a powerful opioid.

A cuddle session is less pressure and you can just be yourself. But the high from a great cuddle session does not come close to the high of a great date. But it is easier to maintain and recapture the feeling of a great cuddle session. Herein lies the problem with dates and relationships—the feelings which sparks such excitement peak at the front end and then decrease and level off into something else over time. One can return to cuddling and easily recapture a high one got from a previous session because it will never be as intense as a date where every fiber of your being has been played like a Stradivarius violin in the hands of a master.

So the answer is elusive because both are spectrums, both create chemical reactions, but one fluctuates more wildly over time and one requires far less effort than the other. So these different factors—time, effort, feeling—play differently depending on the partner, where you are in life, and what your expectations are at that point. As you age, the dramas are far less dramatic and the expectations are far more pragmatic than when you were young and you know that everything is mutable whether you want it to be or not.

  • Cuddle session. I don’t date anyone. I gave it up.

  • [Deleted User]Gabriel2k (deleted user)

@CuddleDuncan I see you have a firm understanding of both, that is good.

Which one would you say you've had a better experience on? That is the simple question the OP was asking, at no point did I suggest approaching anyone on this site for sex (?).

Some people like the safety and comfort of a purely platonic encounter with no expectations of anything else where they can be vulnerable. But for others, it may not fulfill the connection they need emotionally, etc.

Two entirely different things, completely unrelated to this website, just asking for overall feedback on which experience people here gravitate most towards on their own personal lives 😅.

  • I like both, but cuddle dates (in my experience) have been far less disappointing than date dates!! To the degree I tried combining the two (not through here) thinking maybe it'd be less intense. But whoa was that ever not a good plan!! Apparently "cuddling" is code to those outside for much more than what it means here... Whoops!! Sorry for the misunderstanding guys.

Definitely prefer a cuddle session! It’s a wonderful thing to be able to bond and have platonic interaction. Dating sucks for real lol. People lack class, respect, chivalry and seems to expect cookies out of the cookie jar just to spend time with someone. Lol 😆

  • You know you can cuddle on dates too right? Hehe

  • I find it uncomfortable treating cuddling like a business. I don't personally cuddle professionals for this reason. I have also had men tell me they've had uncomfortable experiences with "pro" women texting or looking away while cuddling (overall being cold youknowwhats). I would be happy to be a pro so I could have my gas paid while helping others yet I always feel the vibe change when money is involved so i wont bother. Becomes more of a transaction than a connection.

My cuddle buddies are that: a friend not a business partner. Saying cuddling is not intimate is also ludacris. If done correctly, you're connecting with someone intimately and no this word does not have to be synonymous with romance. Apples and oranges like @cylee1180 said.

At this point I can't answer OP either. Maybe because I have an adversion to touch so my boundaries for both cuddling and dating are similar in that if I dont trust you as a companion I would be extremely uncomfortable having my personal space invaded.

I'm sure someone will attack me in some way over my words and are so uptight for being so called cuddlers. However, at the end of the day apples and oranges are both fruit. My experiences cuddling have been just as good and also just as bad as my experiences dating.

At the moment, I stick to cuddling bc I've exhausting myself trying to build a romantic relationship and I simply need friends. But if i begin dating someone i stop platonically cuddling until able to figure out how comfortable my romantic partner would be with me cuddling my friends to comfort them. Boundaries. Communication. Boundaries. Does this help at all @Saav_ ? 😅

  • This is a disturbing question. And it’s odd. Plus, I’m concerned about the motivation of this question.

  • The thing with me is I've never referred to it as a session. I prefer cuddle hang out or the like. Cuddle session sounds too sterile, especially when done among friends . In this context I can see the term cuddle date being applied. You can use the term in whatever context you like , it doesnt have to refer to a romantic date type thing. And let's face it even in the most platonic of senses , a good deal of cuddle hang outs are essentially what one might do on a date minus the making out part . It is silly to be so adamant about drawing lines of distinction . Even in the most professional of sessions, often the client is seeking out some kind of surrogate for something else, like a substitute girlfriend of sorts or companion who has no expectations of sex from them.

  • It’s not a life and death question it’s just casual.
Some dates are fun and some dates are not. 95% of my cuddles have been fun to varying degrees a few were lame.
I don’t see cuddling as a business meeting, cuddling is a fun and intimate experience where you meet and embrace one another and fulfill physical needs of touch 😊 and a kind ear and getting to know someone through conversation.
Dates are also a nice way to get to know somethjng but different because there’s not the initial cuddling or intimacy, but you do engage in dialogue and hopefully there’s a connection the same way with cuddling. Chemistry is key with both.
So my answer depends on the date or the cuddle.
But generally cuddles are really nicer, but not the same as a date.
Anyway this question wasn’t disturbing. Just a conversation starter.

Cuddle Comfort works hard to ensure the site is viewed as and only used for platonic cuddle sessions. With an on-going battle to keep those seeking to use the site for dating, hook ups, or soliciting sexual services, this thread topic is not something appropriate to be posted because it brings to question the purpose of what this site can be used for, blurring the line between a cuddle session and dating. Those who are dating are seeking something more romantic or purely sexual while those who are here are seeking comfort and acceptance. This thread is being locked as it isn't something which should be compared in the forums when we already have issues with people believing the site is strictly a platonic site.
