Favorite/Scariest Movie Monster

I was watching The Cabin in the Woods for the millionth time (ok, that might be a slight exaggeration) and I started thinking about what my most favorite horror movie monster is. I love zombies, and there are many types of zombies to choose from, but I also realized the main enemy in most zombie movies are the survivors themselves as they usually destroy each other as much as the zombies do. That’s fun and all but it’s not scary enough. So instead of zombies, I think I’m gonna go with the creature from the movie It Follows. I won’t go into it here for fear of spoiling the movie, but how about you? What’s your favorite monster or what do you think the scariest movie monster is?

Also if you haven’t seen The Cabin in the Woods or It Follows, I highly recommend them to watch during the spooky season.

    For me it's the "monsters" from The Grudge, The Ring, or the new version of the clown from It. 😳😳😳😳 I have always had a weird fear of clowns. 😳😳🤷‍♀️😂😂

    My favorite sub-genre of horror is plausible horror. Stories that don’t rely on aliens or supernatural phenomena. “The Crazies” is my horror movie.

    Love Cabin in the woods! Fav movie monster is really difficult! Either Lestat from interview with a vampire, or Ginger from Ginger snaps. I like the theme of exploring the monster within in a supernatural sense.

    Myers.. classic slasher all the way. Jamie Lee Curtis is my 💕💕💕. That said I do not want to be in a horror movie so…. I’d appreciate it greatly if no one came for me…. You never know who is sitting behind a comp somewhere thinking “hmm, that can be arranged.” Okay, I may be sleepy and need to stop scaring myself and saying everything that pops into my head. I have no filter but it gets worse at night.

    @stormydaycuddle Did you ever play the VR game Duck Season? If not, you play as a kid playing a Duck Hunt-like game (from the NES) and the dog in the game starts stalking you in the real world. It was pretty awesome and kinda scary lol

    @Charlie_Bear nope. Sounds a little scary. Right now I’m struggling with the concept that I’m a grown relatively smart woman but I’m starting to think Shadow People are real and my blankie is a good defense. Then I think of The Ring and remember they violated the blanket protection rule.

    @stormydaycuddle VR is next level horror. Like I love me some horror movies and games, but horror in VR can legitimately make me terrified

    @munkg I love zombies and the show, but no I haven’t played it yet! I did play Arizona Sunshine and I gotta say the level of immersion that comes with using a flashlight in a pitch black mine shaft with zombies pursuing you is quite the experience…

    Umm, I don't have a favorite horror icon as there are so many out there...😄

    I will say that I have enjoyed watching Freddy Krueger, Mike Myers, The Predator films, various vampire films, The Terminator films, Leatherface, various werewolf film, Chucky films, some independent low budget horror films and a variety of Stephen King portrayals throughout the years since childhood. Lol! 😆Yeah I have a plethora of horror movie icons and films that I enjoy.😊

    It's just tough for me to pick a favorite.😉

    I stick to the old stuff. The Val Lawton pictures ... the original Thing From Another World ... and radio episodes of Inner Sanctum and Lights Out. What your imagination can conjure is way scarier than any special effect.

    The creature from Alien is terrifying on multiple levels. The facehugger violates and forcibly impregnates its victim, who is then torn apart from within by the monster's birth. The full-grown beast has a nightmarish appearance, a mockery of the human form fused with insect and machine parts. It is an incomprehensible terror that seems to exist only to kill and reproduce. And it may have capabilities not yet seen; one can only guess as to what terrible things it did to Lambert in the first film. Worst of all, it is a cosmic horror of the Lovecraftian sort that seems to defy human understanding, an inexplicable evil from beyond our reality.
