Skin Care routine?

Ok so, now that i've gotten into cuddling.... I care more about my skincare. Specifically my hands, and any acne on my upper body.
Problem is, i'm a warehouse worker so I sweat, deal with the elements (hot, cold) and also sanitize frequently (covid) so my hands are constantly chaffed or dry.

Any recommendations? (daily, weekend)

Everybody's skin is different, you should consult with a dermatologist to see what options are best for you.

I highly recommend real soap - cold pressed extra virgin olive oil , Avoid anything synthetic which you’ll find at places like target / Walgreens / ect… Yes it is way more expensive but it is the real deal! Real soap has only 3 ingredients (which one of those entirely goes away during the saponification process, and maybe a natural added scent (has to be natural). You’ll thank me later.

  • I agree @cuddles_ndream, use real soap. Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion is dermatologist recommended and has helped my non-specific rash (dermatitis). If you put good quality lotion like Cetaphil or Gold Bond on your hands when you go to bed and wear gloves while you sleep it will moisturize and soften even more. O'Keefe's skin products are also very good.

  • Honey is a humectant (if its all natural) and you can find ways of using it online. Hyaluronic acid does wonders for my skin, as well as Dove makes a body wash that is intended for those with aging skin, its their most moisturizing soap.
    Also, hydrate!!!

  • I bathe in the blood of my enemies

  • I try to wear gloves when working around chemicals

I daily face gentle wash and moisturizer

  • I'm not big on skin care, but I use petroleum jelly and cocoa butter. I've had a cuddler say I have soft skin. Good for her. Lol

  • @pmvines I think there was some queen who literally did this but can’t remember her name

  • @sunnysideup Perhaps you're thinking about Countess Elizabeth Bathory?

Corn Huskers Lotion is good also.

  • @achetocuddle yes, guess she was a noblewoman and not a queen

  • First things first, when drying (hands/body) don’t rub - instead pat yourself dry. Rubbing the skin irritates it and removes all moisture which is bad. Pat so that some moisture gets left behind and lotion up then. It’s a trick I had to learn because my little one has eczema. Also if you can keep a travel sized lotion in your pocket or something near your work station or by the sanitizer?

Skin care I’d recommend either Inky List or Clean & Clear.

  • Good for you wanting to improve this! Firstly, stay hydrated, it will help your skin. 💦

    For your hands...

Put on lotion as often as you can, even while at work. One trick is to squirt the lotion on the back of your hands, then rub only the backs together, so your palms and fingers don't get greasy for whatever you're working on.

Lotion is especially able to soak in fully if you put it on right before you go to bed.

Road trips are also a great time to slather it up (I hate getting lotion on books or anything).

    For your upper body...

Make sure to change into a fresh shirt as soon as you get home from work.

If you sleep shirtless, change your sheets frequently. If you sleep in a shirt, put on a fresh one every single night (ditto if you have facial acne, change your pillowcase every night).

Get yourself one of these "scrubber towels" and squirt body wash onto it. Scrunch it up and wash your chest with it, then stretch it out and scrub your back and shoulders with it.

    Best of luck! 😊

  • African black soap and Shea butter

  • Good detailed advice @SunsetSnuggles. Yeah, if you rub lotion on your palms you can't get anything done. And I can't stand to grease up a book or anything else with lotion.

  • Soap and glory hand food is my go-to for hand cream. And I don't have a ton of body acne, but I find that Tumeric essential oil is a good spot treatment.

For hands, I personally recommend O'Keefe's Working Hands Cream. In the winter months my hands get extremely dry to the point of little cuts between the fingers and on them from a combination of the dry air and hand washing that Cetaphil and Gold Bond just haven't cut it. (I'm definitely well-hydrated since I donated blood this morning and my veins were plump according to the technician...blood flows better when you're hydrated)

Anyway, after seeing all the commercials for O'Keefe's I finally bought some this past Monday at Jewel Osco (Walgreens, Walmart, they'll have it too), and my hands are back to normal. It comes in a green container the size and shape of a hockey puck that you could carry it around in your pocket at work and use it as needed.

  • I was a skin care specialist for 5 yrs. Murad has a body acne spray that is pro. You can flip the bottle over for hard to reach areas. I recommended it all the time.

  • @starman85 You are right, sometimes Gold Bond and Cetaphil won't cut it. The OP should probably heal his hands with something heavy-duty like O'Keefe's and then maybe use the lighter-duty stuff when he needs to do something that requires no barrier on his hands, if he does things like that. Gold Bond is great because it's not greasy, but it takes several applications a day. O'Keefe's Lip Balm does super-duty too. Every O'Keefe's product works. Thank you for donating blood!

  • "l live in the American Gardens Building on W. 81st Street on the 11th floor. My name is Patrick Bateman. I'm 27 years old. I believe in taking care of myself and a balanced diet and rigorous exercise routine.

In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I'll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do 1000 now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion."

  • @pmvines @zerocantaloupe Eggshell business cards are the only way to go.

  • Acne is tricky, so you have to try to cover all of your bases. Try changing to a body wash that has acne treating properties. Additionally, The Ordinary is a great skincare brand that is simple and straightforward. Their niacinamide can be useful for acne treatment.

Wash all bedding regularly. Dirty bedding can contribute to acne.

Change your diet. For example, one of my friends stopped breaking out when she cut out dairy.

Hydrate properly. Good hydration is just good for skin in general.

Invest in hydro colloid acne patches.

Consider an oral antibiotic. Prescriptions tend to be easy to get for these because they technically aren’t purely cosmetic (antibiotics have many uses) so if you have a nice doctor who can prescribe it for a supposed non cosmetic purpose, it should be covered by insurance.

If not an oral antibiotic, there are some acne oral supplements that are non prescription, but I hear varying levels of success.

  • Salt covered in jojoba oil. Just use it as a scrub on your entire body.

  • I stay away from mineral oil or petroleum a.k.a. Vaseline. They’re carcinogenic. I go with Shea butter or coconut oil. It’s best to be put on after you wash your hands when your hands are still damp. You could also put on some wool socks over your hands with coconut Shea butter or even organic castor oil at night while you sleep. I met a girl who cured her acne by putting coconut oil on it. Coconut oil is antibacterial. You can look up the information for yourself don’t take my word for it.

If I ever get a chance to cuddle you lol I would love to give you a hand massage that’s one thing I love to do. This is a great thread especially since winter is coming. Get the Yuka app, it will tell you if there’s bad stuff in your products.

Let me know how your skin goes and especially your acne it may take a while

  • Also I dry brush my skin before I get in the shower mainly when I’m getting ready to cuddle because I want my skin to be extra smooth. So you get a back brush and then scrub your skin dry. it gets all the dead skin off. It’s called exfoliation. It really makes for smooth skin.

  • I was raising money one time and I was giving strangers in public hand massages with Shea butter. It got me out of my comfort zone. I got a lot of funny looks, but some people loved it!

  • @pmvines what a coincidence. I also bathe in the blood of my enemies 🤣🤣🤣🤣
