Obligatory New Year’s Resolution Thread

Someone had to do it.

What’s your resolution?

I actually started some of mine early at the start of December:

  • Getting a gym membership again and working out at least 3 days a week
  • Reducing carbs and focusing more on green vegetables (aside from holiday dinners…nothing will stop me from enjoying gingerbread)
  • Enrolling in a class that can help me change my career (Haven’t done this yet, so that’ll be a task for January)
  • Traveling more

  • I am picking up a new hobby (Archery!) Just to shoot at a target range though, not hunting.

I also want to learn how to be a better cuddler so I am looking at Cuddlist to learn that. Though I am not looking to go pro because I think it’s laughable to think people would pay me for cuddles 😅

Also the obligatory eat healthy and exercise, which I really, really need to do…

  • @bobadevotee good luck on all of yours and esp good luck on the career class!

  • Many people have that"gym" resolution every year and they stop going passed January. If people actually went to the gym, they would have to increase their prices. They count on people paying and not showing up.

  • Well @Mike403 I’ve been going for a month, sometimes 5 times a week. I used to go regularly. Only reason I stopped was due to work getting too busy and struggling to find a new gym after I was no longer able to go to my previous one where I had a free membership.

My fee for this new place is only $16/month with no startup fees so I don’t foresee any financial issues for myself. Even without a membership I still jogged in my neighborhood. I just prefer a climate controlled environment

  • @Charlie_Bear archery is awesome! The closest thing I did this year was axe throwing 🤣 archery is much more graceful

In regards to healthy eating, you can do it! My biggest advice is just find foods you love and make some alterations. I love kimchi rice so I just replaced all the rice with cauliflower rice. Extremely healthy, full of probiotics, way less carbs.

Hi @bobadevotee ! You have some great attainable goals! I have an active and fit membership through an auto club that is $25/mon and gives me access to several gym memberships. I want to get back in a regular routine of going to the gym also, but I never fully stopped.

My main resolution is utilizing a planner to plan and take notes of my daily happenings. I would love to gain new time management skills so I can improve in school.

If you’re curious about taking courses to explore new career opportunities, check out Coursera or Grow with Google. You can earn certificates free and at your own pace.

Best wishes and happy new year to everyone 🥂 🎉 🎈

  • My resolution is to eat healthier, diet, lose weight, and exercise on a daily basis. I've started 2 weeks ago. :)

  • To personally hold the record for the world's longest cuddle session 🤓

I do crossfit about four days a week and I would love to be able to toss a couch, @bobadevotee you in? But realistically, would like to set some new personal records with lifts would be super nice. And back to meal prep I actually want to eat haha

Travel and be consistent with boxing and personal training. Get lean and fit tbh

  • I love Sanrio so much @ClubSamwiches

  • @cudbud64 lol at the goal of having the longest cuddle session. This year I had an enthusiast cuddle that lasted over 7.5 hours (no sleeping). I don’t know if I could go longer than that. I wouldn’t want to force cuddles, but if it happens naturally again I’ll see how long it went 😝

  • @Charlie_Bear if sleeping disqualifies the length, I'm screwed lol. I love a good nap while cuddling. Also bathroom breaks better be allowed.

  • @cudbud64 oh yeah if bathroom breaks are not allowed, I’m toast hahaha

  • My New Year’s resolutions let’s see lol 😂

    1) Actually use that gym membership I’ve been paying forever and haven’t used in the last 6 - 8 months

    2) Eliminate soda 🥤 completely for the entire year of 2023, or at the very least the 1st 3 months ? This has been on my New Year’s resolution list for the past 4 years and nothing 🤣

    3) Spoil my self a bit … I need to buy new clothing 👖 👕 , I’m to the point where I can wash whites & colors at the same time and no problem lmao

    4) I highly regret not buying the most amazing year regal pass on Black Friday SMH @ me 🤦‍♂️ If you look at it now, it is still amazing, but it was significantly more amazing to the point- I couldn’t believe it, read it twice, and still didn’t buy it, … buy it anyways 🍿 🎥

  • @cuddles_ndream People still separate whites and colors? Lol. I have a friend whose granddaughter will wash delicates, a rug, and a pair of jeans in the same load. ha ha

I resolve to continue not gaining weight by staying out of restaurants most of the time.

I resolve to keep breathing. Lol. This can be funny, but it's more complicated for me than the average person. Lol.

    Good thread.

  • @achetocuddle lol I’m just a jeans & T shirt type of guy so its cool throwing it all in the mix 😂

As far as restaurants, that would do wonders for me if I don’t eat out as much & actually cook -in, but I’m lazy and there are sooo many restaurants I absolutely love 💕 I’m a foodie till the end 🙈

To find a hiking/ walking and/ or dance partner 💫

Get a good foundation on service training on the dog I’m currently training. Try out some agility and water sports with him and see which he loves. 🐾💞

I’m a private chef, and would like to explore more thoroughly in the finer palettes for my clients 😋

  • Also work out and diet. Cut out seed oils, less carbs, less highly processed food.

    Learn guitar and mma.

  • @cuddles_ndream Oh honey, I wash lots of stuff together too. Lol. I am lazy too and it is difficult sometimes to make myself cook something I don't really want. I default to frozen broccoli a lot to get my green vegetable in easily.

I just remembered I resolve not to get a gym membership that I won't use much.

@sunnysideup What oils do you use? I feel like you have an informed opinion on this.

  • I want to Start playing piano again snd learn Spanish

  • I'm keeping one I made years ago, that being to not make any new ones.

  • Resuming my Ariel silks class. I had to stop a couple months ago due to work schedule conflicts.

  • I need to start getting my health back on track in regards to eating and exercising. I really want to, but I dread doing it at the beginning of the new year because it's kind of cliché. Not sure what I'll do yet.

  • I have a bunch of targets haha.

Learn a new skill (thinking photography and/or bizarrely learning the harmonica)
    Get a better job
    Get back to jogging

  • More cuddling, less bullsh*t. :)

  • I've dropped 35 pounds over the past few months, I'd like to continue that.
Also, I need to get serious about finding a new job, or making my side gigs more profitable.

  • Gonna update my resume and hit the job listings

    1. Restart my cycling hobby
    2. Try and connect with a local community. Likely fandom/convention related.
    3. Continue my 3-days-a-week gym commitment

And I managed to actually book a phycologist early January. I've had therapy done before, but only short term. I surrender to the fact that I need long-term, and may need medication.

  • @TruePower honestly, I wish every person went to therapy the same way we all go to the dentist. Everyone benefits from it! Glad you’re taking those steps!
