Nintendo switch vs cuddle

My birthday coming up I always wanted a switch but I also want a cuddle on my bday. Can't afford both especially after going to Disney the day before my bday. Such a dilemma can anyone logically walk me thru a decision? Leaning more towards cuddle but could change idk lol

  • Unless you''re a Mario fan, get a Steam Deck instead of a Switch.

  • Steamdeck? Ooh man totally forgot about that probably have 10times better game library

  • It's a very affordable handheld gaming PC and has much better hardware. The Nintendo Switch is outdated crap, but it has Mario and Zelda.

  • If I was choosing between the two I would go for the switch. I love my switch and older Zelda game is fantastic and new one is around the corner. System has alot of great games.

Cuddles are great and everything but the one time investment would be long term therapy vs a short fix

  • Personally, and this is even with me being a pro, I’d say go with the Switch or other console. It’s a long-term investment since it’s something you can continuously come back too where as with the cuddle you pay for the one and you’re done. I’d save for the cuddle for another day.

Then again it’s your birthday and I totally understand the wanting to have a cuddle for that.

  • Get the Switch. It lasts much longer!

Also you could even incorporate the Switch into your next cuddle session to enhance the experience!!!

  • Yes good idea I can find switch cuddle partners if inget the switch first ir gamers in general not bad. I'll be 37 on my bday I feel old but family say 30s is still a baby lol

    Get the switch

  • As much as I love cuddling, I’d have to go with video games. They are the OG when it comes to bringing me comfort.

  • I'd say the switch is for you if you like any nintendo property. Especially with the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom coming in June. I put something like 500 hours into my switch last year, and old system or no, it still has absolute bangers you can't find anywhere else. I just got the new Fire Emblem game today and I'm loving it.

  • Happy early birthday @FutureHeart2023 ! 🥳

  • This is my gaming setup.

  • I am not familiar with the steam deck. I bought the switch because it's very portable. It also depends on the long term. The gaming device would be a possible investment and long-term enjoyment. Yet if you have not cuddled in a while, you could need that more.

  • @bear - This is the Steam Deck. It runs PC games.

My ADD doc told me I lack dopamine and suggested that habitually engaging in brief activities that give me a dopamine fix might do wonders for my mood and concentration. That, plus the fact that it’s fun as heck, has me on the Switch almost every day.

    Smash Bros!

Donkey Kong is my guy. (Naturally!)

  • Can you hook a cuddle up to your big screen TV for hours without interuption, order and eat a pizza by yourself and chug a soda in your boxers while cuddling...................
    Switch all day.

@BgstickTeddyBea well played sir a round of applause for you I couldn’t have said it better myself

  • @lonelytauros Im passionate about my spa time 😂 (switch pizza alone)

  • @BgstickTeddyBea cuddle while watching cuddling on tc that's next level and do switch in between that genius

  • @futureHeart2023 the pizza part is what drives the vision.

  • I would lean towards the Switch 😊. Cuddles are great, but the Switch you can play the next day, or have cuddles while playing it in the future.

I'd suggest holding off on a Steamdeck for now as there are recent reports the hardware in it is already showing to be a bit outdated and with running modern game titles. It's only been out a year, and starting to have issues keeping up. If the money is burning a hole in your pocket and you're looking for a "now" purchase, the Switch or Switch OLED will be the better option... the only real difference between them is the OLED screen but no increase in refresh rates.

If you hold out for another year though, the Switch Pro is looking like it may be announced end of this year with the possible release Spring of 2024, but no idea what the updated specs or price will be for it.

Cuddling is great too, don't get me wrong, and your priorities are yours to decide.

  • @netrunner - The Switch? Talk about being outdated. Most modern games won't run very well on it all. It's fine if you're into the Nintendo first party exclusives.

  • I would get a gaming device, it's not even a close call for me.

  • @Mike403 my fellow PCMR, I built my PC right before the latest gen cpu/gpu’s dropped since the prices were lower and built this bad boy. The tower is massive!

    PSP ALL THE WAY

  • Unless you are severely isolated, I’d take the switch!

You could also save up for a gaming pc. You could build a pretty damn good one for $700-$800

  • @sunnysideup - My graphics card cost more than that.
