Not a chance.
I wasn’t completely sure how to take this question. If the option was time travel back to 1980 and redo high school as it was then, with my current knowledge, YES!
However, if the option was to be 14 years old today and enter high school as most high schools exist today, I would pass on that opportunity.
I was a teenage drug addict criminal who people were afraid of, even though I wanted to do good and be trusted . So not really something I'd wanna do again
@pmvines I didn’t do any of that but I hope I would have still been your friend
No, but I do miss watching Robotech and ThunderCats during that time
Also to answer the question, yes. I would do things so much differently.
@Charlie_Bear you're about 8 yrs behind me so I don't think we would have been on the same playground haha
@pmvines oh rats haha
@Charlie_Bear important thing is we are friends now , and our pasts dont matter
@JohnR1972 —ditto!! It’s so much harder for young adults now 💕 🤗.
@SlothHugs i would say its much harder on teachers now lol, don’t know if there are any teachers here that can confirm or say otherwise in this community 🌌
And go through all those fights again? Passss
I’d do college over though, choose a different major.
@SlothHugs - 100% agree. I did plenty of stupid stuff while in high school. I grew up on a farm and had a great chemistry set. Let’s just say I am lucky to still have both eyes and all 10 fingers. 😂
@PrettyLuv - I think a lot of people would join you in picking different majors. My engineering degree served me well for the first 15 years of my career but it is unrelated to what I do now. However, I don’t think I would be as successful in my current career if it were not for my engineering background and the experience I gained as an engineer.
Hell to the no
@JohnR1972 yeah, I sort of feel the same. It’s like a love-hate relationship in that field that molds you whether you realize it or not.
Part of me says yes, but only with the caveat that I can do it all over again with the hindsight of what I know now and the ability to do so as my true self instead of the mask I was trying to be back then
But also part of me says no, because I am content with my life now
High school is one of th two things that I absolutely would not want to do again, but having done it once, It's an experience that I wouldn't want to give up for anything. The other was Vietnam.
Yeah, even if I had to go back only with just the knowledge I had back then. High school was pretty fun for me. Even as a child, I was very self-aware of the fact that having the freedom of not needing to work was a luxury that wouldn't last forever, so I took advantage of it and had a good time goofing around. It would be interesting going back with all the knowledge I have now, but I almost think that would ruin the experience.
I think there are two kinds of people in the world. The ones who remember highschool fondly and the ones who remember it as 4 years in prison type of hell. I don't think the two types of people can understand eachother very well. Highschool for me was mostly trying to avoid being ridiculed or punched. It was a place I was forced to spend countless hours at and if I had the courage I would have burned the place down back then. It's why I never went to a single reunion with those people. Anyways. Carry on folks.
Yes I would. I think the first reaction is generally No but that’s because the awkward/embarrassing times stick in our minds to a greater degree than the positive. In my case I’d spend a little less time with studies and more time growing socially, at least a better balance.
Yes. I made a lot of friends there I still have today. One of my teachers at the time said he had never known a class that loved each other as much as we did.
People were douchebags in high school. They seemed to be there only to pick fights. College is an entirely different world as people are actually there to learn.
I say no because of all the work and assignments you have to do for each class. School was always really hard for me due to my learning disabilities. Also, as a more reserved and at times socially awkward individual, those group projects and being around people was overwhelming in certain situations. Similar to @PrettyLuv I would do college over again in some ways because I could use a degree that actually is useful for employment/a career.
I might!
My high school years were sort of meh. I stayed the straight and narrow and got excellent grades.
This time around, I think I might like to raise a little hell. >;) Mouth off to a teacher or two that had it coming. xD
The workload would be the same, but I wouldn't stress about it as much, knowing that a lot of it never really mattered as far a my future was concerned. No job has ever asked me what my GPA was. Most of what we learned didn't carry any weight.
I NEVER LEARNED HOW TO DO TAXES, BUT THANK GOODNESS I KNOW HOW TO FIND B SQUARED PLUS OR MINUS THE SQUARE ROOT OF WHATEVER THE FRICK THAT WAS. XDD
I'd spend more time developing my hobbies. I'd take more chances. And I'd use what I've learned to better manage certain circumstances. ^^
And I'd find ways to reach out to my peers more, because now I know that most of us feel like outsiders, especially at that age. It wasn't just me ~
I may be in the minority here, but I would absolutely re-do high school if I could do it knowing what I know now. It would totally shift my focus knowing what stuff was useless, what was ultimately important to me, and what people would become such important parts of my life.
with my abusive narcasist parents.. hmm pass
I'm a public school kid. I wouldn't mind trying it again, but this time at one of those fancy international private schools where the athletic teams, indeed even the robot building clubs, routinely fly to other countries to compete. I would spend more time learning foreign languages, and I would try to snag one of those "youth exchange year abroad" programs in somewhere like Germany.
I actually ran into somebody who I hadnt seen since high school . They are a general manager of an auto shop where my car was being serviced, and recognized my name. She seemed genuinely surprised to hear me talk about my career. Like if you knew me back then the thought of me being a gainfully employed adult with 2 degrees and a masters in a respectable field of practice would have been highly unlikely lol. Like she knew me when I snorted lines in the bathroom stall and slept all day in class from being up all night partying. And probably saw me curse out the teacher, or drop kick somebody in the cafeteria a couple times . I did enjoy seeing her expression because it is a testament to how far I went to not be that person that I was.
I go back and try to do things differently, but I want the option to undo everything in case I screwed up my future lol
I wouldn't do high school over again (too much work and too much drama), but I could see myself going back to college eventually for a Master's degree or just to take a course I was interested in.
