There’s an official Cuddle Party at my house tomorrow!

This isn’t a promotion, or a brag, though I am proud and happy about this!

There is a Cuddle Party at my house in Santa Cruz, CA tomorrow, and I’m excited! I am not the facilitator, I am mainly providing the space. The facilitator is someone I know from attending the same events, who got certified as a facilitator and now runs her own events at various locations around the south bay. If you aren’t familiar with CuddleParty.com, it is a very lovely type of event, or can be with the right group. There will be 20-25 people coming, including a partner of mine and various friends/acquaintances I am in community with who have enjoyed cuddling with me in the past. I bought a set of thin mattresses to cover the living room floor with for such events, and fitted sheets, and the facilitator will bring blankets and pillows and things like that, and handle most of the logistics (covid rapid testing, etc).

I discovered the world of professional cuddling and cuddle parties in 2016, and I’m so grateful for it. This experience is teaching me about being in collaboration, and it is an opportunity to contribute to my cuddle community!

    This is so wonderful!! Would love to see photos of how you cuddlify the space. I recently finished my certification and would like to have a community in the northeast So lucky to be able to get that many participants!!

    We don't talk about events like this a great deal here because they are not particularly a Cuddle Comfort thing. But cuddle worshops/parties are an important part of the cuddling community.

    Of course I wish I was in Santa Cruz RIGHT NOW if it was an open cuddle party but instead I will send all sorts of hugs and good vibes for a fabulous and exceptional group cuddle. 😊

    @frankparker9 that heart pillow is so cute. I love how there’s all these windows and trees right outside. It almost looks like a perfect sleepover spot or someplace you’d convene in before camping out. I love the different color sheets too. Really cutely designed use of space.

    The set-up went well, with three of us moving furniture and putting mattresses and other "fluff" in place. There was a snag around parking; my property is kind of in the woods but off a main road, with no shoulder to park on. I am clearing an area of my property to make more room for parking, but it wasn't ready in time for this event, so we told people to park at a park about eight minutes way from the house and we would be there to meet them and shuttle them to the house. We didn't factor in that this park had a closing time that meant people couldn't actually leave their cars there! Fortunately, we realized this problem right as people were starting to arrive, but we had to come up with a plan for people to move their cars somewhere better to park and then be driven to the house. It was stressful, but the organizer handled it really well, and the attendees took it better than I would have expected and were mostly unfazed. We did "lose" a couple people (who the organizer and I both know from other events) who got too stressed out during the process and decided to go home, but we talked about it and it's ok. One person rapid-tested positive for covid at the park and went home. One person had to be pulled aside midway through the event for their behavior and ended up leaving; I witnessed part of it and had a sense what was happening, but I wasn't involved in that interaction as it was taking place. Other than that, it was a really nice time with the remaining 20 or so people (roughly half male, half female or non-binary attendees).

    It took me some time to calm down from all the initial madness of shuttling people to the house, but I had some nice relaxing cuddles. I cuddled with someone new who I just met last week and encouraged to come to the party, and they came, and brought a friend. They both seemed very moved by the whole experience. How does it get any better than that? While it's possible to take the mindset too far of seeing someone else as needing an experience like what a past version of yourself needed, and wanting them to have that, I love when people come to their first cuddle party, and cry. I love holding someone who really needed to be held, but it just hasn't been available. The vibe of the party was very quiet and peaceful. In retrospect, even long-time party regulars were a little more emotional than usual at the opening or closing circle. By the time the bell dinged for closing circle, pretty much everyone was spooning under blankets in various groups and lines, which seems to be what happens at a good cuddle party.

    Everyone was really happy with me and my house. I will do this again, roughly monthly, hopefully with onsite parking next time.

    There's a lot of good here, which I'm still processing. Hopefully it feeds into my daily life in the form of self-love, strength, and courage. :)

    @frankparker9 I really REALLY appreciate you sharing your experience. I can imagine that Fox was a hit because how fun AND functional is THAT?!?!?!!!!

    I am also grateful that you gave us a clear picture of things that happened positively and negatively. I think there's a stigma out there sometimes that in order for something to be a "success" it must go off without any problems, have perfect communication and human interaction, as well as providing only rainbows and glitter experiences.

    It seems like it was an AMAZING time and there were experiences that helped people grow in lots of different varying ways. Thank you!! Thank you for sharing and thank you for being a beautiful human out there in the Santa Cruz, CA cuddle-verse!
