@GreyAndGreen If we are talking the first one on Sega Genesis, I loved going to the secret island that you could reach from the starting map. I’d drink lemonade and chill in the hot tub…life was good.

@Charlie_Bear Indeed, it was a simpler time. :)

  • For some reason, so many people think that older games from the '80s and '90s were better. I believe they are just wearing their nostalgia glasses. For every one classic game, there were 100 shitty games and it was even worse back then as there was no internet to tell which games were good. You only had the box art to go by and sometimes word of mouth.

  • Hogwarts Legacy is tons of fun. It just came out recently. It's based on the Harry Potter universe.

  • Based on all my hours playing the Civilization series, since the early 2000s... (Civ II, III, IV, V, VI), I'm going with those games. GOAT in my game library.

Ninja Gaiden : Black on the XBOX.

@Sideon I've been playing since Civ 1. Tried VI, went back to V, curious to see what VII will be like.

@MrAdmirer original Xbox had a lot of really good games that one that ninja Gaiden game that you mentioned was really good. It was tough as nails though, but wow was it impressive when it came out! One of my favorites on the original Xbox was panzer dragoon Orta

  • @WriterGF - I don't recall Civ 1... but I'm fairly sure I played. II and V are my faves. I'm so-so with VI.

Games need a break down though for Best:

    • RPG
    • MMO
    • FPS
    • RTS
    • MOBA
    • Stealth
    • Fighting
    • Survival
    • Text
    • Strategy
    • SIMS
    • Turn-Based
    • Tower Defense
    • Puzzle
    • Board
    • Sportsing (do the thing, get the points, balls something or other!)
    • Racing
    • Platformer
    • and a whole 'nother level with VR

Still love the vastness and community of FFXIV

  • @Sideon take a look at Realism Invictus for civ 4. It adds a lot and as someone who has played civ 1-5 it's my fav.

  • It's not for everyone, but escape from tarkov is easily one of the best games I've played.

I wonder if anybody here has played this one.

I don’t know why a sad song or a movie with an unhappy ending makes sense to me but the idea of a sad game is so jarring. I guess that’s partly the point.

  • Perhaps it's the nostalgia aspect for me but I'll never grow tired of Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Played it on N64, then the updated edition made for 3ds. The franchise in general is one of my favorites with so many hours sunken into BOTW. Open world RPGs are my weakness!

  • I've never played Stray but I did hear it's good! I'm more of an MMORG girl myself, been playing World Of Warcraft for 18 years now :O And am actually a guild leader too :)

  • @Mike403 respect for sharing with OneDrive 😎

  • I'm going to say Donkey Kong Country 1 or 2

  • Yars Revenge...Atari 2600

Don’t forget we had the Nintendo-owned magazine Nintendo Power to provide totally unbiased reviews. And remember GamePro? Those reviews def were not bought and paid for 😅
