Thanks @Calibrate715, I’m pretty open and honest about my mental health, there’s still so much stigma attached to it. I’d rather put it all out there, than be in a situation where something triggers me emotionally, and makes things awkward for others. For the most part I’ve been finding that younger generations are way more understanding of mental health issues, I’ve given up on therapists after realizing that all they know about mental health is what they’ve read and studied in school! My therapist now is about 10 years younger than me and she’s been through a lot of the same things I’ve gone through, its so much easier to talk about the hard stuff knowing that she can truly understand. I’ve spoken to a couple really nice people on here so I’m not giving up, I actually had my first cuddle last weekend and she was amazing! She was so understanding, and just a really sweet person. I feel like there’s a lot more people like me on here, and I can’t wait to meet them!
@Matt462 That's great that you're willing to be open and honest about it. I have a relatively new friend that struggles with some issues. I make sure to get their approval on any places we may meet to avoid triggers and also to see that they have the "space" to socialize.
And I'm very happy to hear you found a therapist that works for you. It can be hard to find someone you'd be in sync with and trust - much like the cuddle dynamic really lol
Congratulations on not giving up. This isn't a contest and the right people are worth waiting for😊
