What is everyone’s thoughts if cuddle comfort had the requirement of doing an ID verification to verify age and the persons account when joining?
Would not like. I'm a fan of semi-anonymous.
It's been suggested and asked after. Seems it's preferable for the site to leave this responsibility to the individuals. It would discourage people from joining, since one of the draws is how fast the registration process is. Just facts. le sigh
Honestly, though? I'm paranoid and there's no way I would have entered my license info at 2:00 A.M. when I was struggling with insomnia and feeling lonely, wishing to be held. I joined out of curiosity. I certainly didn't have any idea that this site would change my life and that cuddling would become such a powerful part of my personal growth journey. Knowing it now, I'd enter my license in a heartbeat, but initially, it would have kept another user off the site.

I don't think people would go for this, since there is no way of knowing what kind of security this site has. And I don't think the site wants to be legally liable if someone turns out not to be who they say they are.
My birthday is a day off here to mess with spy bots. I wouldn't like to have my driver's license be available for Tim Cook or other scumbag CEOs to do who knows what horrible things with.

I don't care if they require it here on the site but I do require someone's i.d. (just name/pic) before cuddling. Ultimately, it's up to the cuddler to do their due diligence and protect themselves.
It's like a caregiver site doing background checks. You can't really verify how thorough those are so I'd do my own/get personal references, etc. I.D. verification is just one facet of protection.
It's absolutely not going to happen. Far too much risk for a small site like this. And a whole bunch of expense accompanied by a decline in revenue.
A mid-way option - having a "verified profile" status tag that shows the profile has been verified via live photo & ID to be a real person. Another community I am in uses such a system using webcam image capture to take a picture of the ID, then of the user holding the ID near their own face, and a human mod verifies that they are a match. The profile then gets a shiny little check mark, so that visitors know the person is real, but they also get to keep their anonymity to the general public.
It's then up to the other users to decide how much stock to put in that verified status, but at least it's something at least to combat fake profiles even if it's voluntary.

i don’t see how that would affect revenue and either way our safety should be paramount not revenue. i sometimes turn down clients who make me feel unsafe (which ultimately loses me money) i think it’s only fair for the owners/creators of this platform to sacrifice a little for the general well being of all. especially as this site rises in popularity
@mimtheplantmom well, the danger of the verification is that it gives a false sense of security... That people believe it means that verified profiles are safe people, when that is not what it portrays. All the verification would designate is that the photo on the ID and the person in the photo holding the ID appear to be the same person. That's it. There's no way to tell if the ID is fake, no background check done, and the people checking the photos against each other are fallible humans. It's not a perfect system.
But again, it's a way to combat the issue of fake accounts without people having to display their personal info to the entire membership, at the lowest possible cost and liability to the site admin. Done with enough disclaimers and member awareness, it's a very helpful tool IMHO.
There’s a website I’m a part of that’s called Couchsurfing and they have a verification process. Costs 25 bucks and an independent party verifies id and address as legit. Has to be a drivers license or passport and that info is not shared with anyone. And you do get a check mark that says your id and address has been verified. I would have no issue with that. I have nothing to hide. But others would not be comfortable with that for any number of reasons.
@cuddlefaery i think if nothing else it would keep banned members from making new accounts, i’ve heard about that happening a lot in the “unsafe clients” thread
With all the different security ID breaches heard about in the news,I don’t think this site is secure enough. Nor does it want to get involved on that level.
@Ironman294 I've used the Couchsurfing site as well. The downside of that one is 1) all it is is a paid subscription that verifies that the payment address or phone number matches that of the ID; 2) it still can give false sense of security like the other verification system I mentioned; 3) unlike the other system I mentioned, it costs money so it is even less likely to be utilized than one that requires revealing personal information to mods/admin.
It's essentially a money making method via subscriptions for a free service dressed up as a safety protocol, which is dangerous.
Regardless of what anybody's opinion is on the matter, it is ultimately a decision of site owner @Mark and developer.@gary. I would say perhaps allow for them to provide input
I would %100 be good with if verification even if only through the site directly.
