Braille erasing during session - Would you consider this platonic

  • My question for you, @Andy1996 is this - why are you needing to have a cuddle partner or professional cuddler do this, specifically, rather than just someone who does odd jobs as gig/side work or asking a friend/acquaintance/neighbor?

If you are needing to hire someone to do this task for you, there are gig sites for hiring people to do such work. If you need someone to do it for free, then you should be able to ask friends and acquaintances for help.

When talking about "platonic activities" that you hire professional cuddlers for, yes, technically what you are describing is platonic because it is a non-sexual, non-romantic activity. In general, professional cuddlers are highly specialized independent contractors who provide platonic companionship through touch and other modalities depending on their training, and most likely they are going to charge you FAR more per hour than a gig worker who is just going to do the task at hand.

If the professional cuddler agrees to do the task, by all means, go for it, it just seems puzzling to me that you are seeking these very specific tasks from paid companions rather than from say people you could hire on Craigslist, or neighbors you could pay a few bucks to, etc.

  • The thing is, I am a bit hesitant about hiring somebody on craigslist. As I have been scammed there before.

  • @Andy1996 You could just as easily be scammed here without vetting - which you could do on Craigslist as well. You should always vet the people you pay to do work, especially if paying cash without much documentation.

  • Why don’t you just have your girlfriend do it with you?

  • Well, on here, I actually require a video call with the person before meeting them. Perhaps, I can do the same on craigslist

  • @iornman294, I have asked her if she can do this. But she does not like to do it because it triggers her memory is from school. Unfortunately they would not provide her with her work in Braille. So she literally had to sit and do that all day in class.

  • Is Erasing Braille a form of therapy? Companionship activity more than just a side gig like having your laundry done or housecleaning? Is there an emotional benefit to you in sharing it with someone you want to feel close to? I searched it and found links to behavioral activities books for kids.
I’d love an answer, I’m really trying to understand. I may be totally misunderstanding this. Thanks!

  • @carieanne, I actually do consider it a form of therapy. Because it actually reminds me of a very nice teacher that I had in school. And it means a lot.

  • @Andy1996 thanks for your answer. I found links on Etsy for materials to use for this. It looks like a therapeutic activity, not something weird or a fetish. Repetitive detailed hand work, drawing, calligraphy, jewelry making. This isn’t creative but I could see it as a distraction, refocus.

    @pmvines
I can try to merge the posts, but it may get messy.

Edit: Merged. I only merged two topics so not as messy as I thought. I am going to leave the others alone as they are different topics and would get sandwiched between these two.

I have read all of the comments between the two threads, and the questions I have had already been asked, but I haven't seen them answered. The most burning question I have is: What do you get out of this that would make you question if it's non-platonic? It seems to me that this is something you could ask someone without anyone giving a second thought as to whether it's platonic or not, but since you are asking, that makes me wonder if there is some non-platonic component to it.

Regardless of your impairment, I don't think anyone would ever be comfortable with rubbing anyone else teeth. That request just seems in poor taste, sorry.

Scratching seems ok, but could be mistaken for sadism. I've cuddled with pros who tell me front up they like to use their hands when they cuddle so they ask if its ok if they rub or massage me as we lay so I would call that a borderline request.

Rubbing the braille still seems a bit off to me. I agree with @MCcuddles2 that it would be interesting to hear from another vision impaired person's point of view.

My ex-wife has low vision as a result of a troubled birth. One of her eyes was left blind and the other left her with partial vision. It didn't stop her from living a full life (she runs marathons) and have a good career, but it presented many challenges. One of them was she hated she being touched and tickled, especially if you came at her suddenly or from her blind side. Sensations like touch were only done on her terms to say the least. I always wondered what it would be like to see from her perspective.

  • Huh. The BIG red X... Not gonna lie, I'm a little curious ~ What went down 🤔??

  • Hoooolyyy…. What a read this thread was.

  • Well now that his account has been banned I guess we won’t be getting the same questions asked again.

  • This entire thread is completely bizarre lol

  • I think this thread is done.
