My limit is 150
The weight of a coffee cup to my mouth at 5am
220
How much can I lift? Do they have security cameras?
Before I hurt my back I could lift around 200, now I’m limited to 20 pounds so I don’t cause any further damage.
I used to be able to bench 250. Those days are long gone. Now, I only lift lighter weights with more reps to maintain the muscles. I do a lot of stretching
I can lift any weight, up to and including the weight of the Earth. I just need a place to stand. And a lever, obviously.
Many a people’s spirits with bear hugs.
The 15 year old me could lift insane amounts of weight. Now, at 50+, I sometimes struggle with 80 pounds.
@Bear i love that
300# bench. 100# dumbell flys
Love all these answers (@bear!) I’m impressed with @embrace_comfort Yesterday I was challenged to lift a 51lb child, I barely got him 8 inches off the ground. After 2 TKR, it didn’t feel great, I need to work on that.
I haven't went for max because it doesn't matter but I can put up 225.
Do you even lift bro?
I used to be able to bench press 200#, but now I struggle to carry a 40# sack of salt down to the water softener in the basement.
@CuddleDuncan - You almost got the quote right. Actually, what Archimedes supposedly said was "Give me a place to stand, and a lever long enough, and I will move the world." Somehow, what both you and he seem to neglect, is the need for a fulcrum.
I can lift my 3 year old niece maybe 15-20 times above my head before I feel like I’m gonna pass out 😅
@sunnysideup - Off topic, but I just have to tell you how much I laugh every time I see your name. In my younger days, I owned a 505 class racing sail boat. It carried more sail than any sane person would put on a boat of that size, and could get up on plane in only a 10 knot breeze.
Mine had a bright yellow hull, and a white deck. It was named Sunny Side Up, because of how often it was in that position.
The photo is of another boat in the class.
Depends. Are we talking bench press? I've been to 315 so far. Leg press? 982 so far. Or is this more of a I can't lift a lot of life's problems and how much stress do you deal with? Please be a touch more specfic.
I've never pursued a one-rep max for any exercise, but here's one of my regular workouts (push day):
DB Bench Press - 3x8, 90 lbs Incline DB Bench Press - 3x8, 80 lbs DB Chest Fly - 3x8, 40 lbs Incline DB Chest Fly - 3x8, 40 lbs Standing DB Shoulder Press - 3x8, 60 lbs Lateral Raise - 3x12, 25 lbs Pushup - 2x30
15 fl. oz., and whatever a remote weighs.
Back in the day I topped out bench at about 350 or so. Dead lift these days be about 4 or 450 ish.
The OP’s question reminds me of a story I heard about a wealthy businessman who hired a guide to take him elk hunting. After they parked their vehicle and were hiking along through the rough terrain the businessman, who weighed nearly 300 lbs, started getting concerned about what would happen if he fell and broke his leg this far from the truck.
He asked his guide, “If I got hurt out here, do you think you could get me back to the truck”? The guide responded “sure, no problem.”
About 2 miles further on the businessman was really getting worried about the uneven ground an the possibility of getting injured and he asked again, “If I get hurt out here, are you sure you could get me back to the truck”. The guide tried to reassure him by telling “I am 100% sure, last year I shot a 700 lb elk out here and I got him back to the truck by myself.”
The businessman was impressed and asked, “How did you manage to do that?” And the guide said, “It was easy, I made 4 trips”.
I can bench press at least 300 pounds but have picked up men much heavier before! 🦸🏿♂️ 🕺🏿💪🏿🎉
PR deadlift 3 days ago at 95 pounds 🥲🥲🥲🥲
I started out lifting weights but switched to dictionaries. I have found that I can get more definition that way.
@Mman You’re awesome humor never dissapoints!😅😂🤣
I have a hard time lifting myself off the couch these days.
@Bear Sweet comment, I like that.😍
