Additional Hosting Fee

A Pro asks for an additional hosting fee. Is that normal?

I’ve seen it on occasion. Sometimes a pro will rent a location rather than hosting in their home or sometimes it is for the extra work involved in laundering sheets and pillows. Just like hourly rates or travel expenses, pros can set their own pricing policies and as a client you can accept, reject, or attempt to negotiate.

  • It is very normal to pros who can’t host at their home but are trying to accommodate clients who can’t host for whatever reason. The hosting fee is to offset some of the room stays at a hotel they are using for cuddling. I prefer they come to me.

  • I assumed they were charging a hosting fee for being at their place because I’ve seen it between 25 and $50. Which is not enough to cover hotel stay.
I haven’t talked to any that charge for that.

It doesn’t cover hotel expenses. It’s at their residence and pros says it covers cleaning the sheets and bedding usually.

  • @bear the ones I have asked said the fee is approximately half of the hotel. It is not intended to cover all of it. It is like going dutch on something. I can see some doing it from their homes as well. The ones I conversed with are for a co-op on the hotel.

On the ones charging for their residence I could also see the fee as a safety thing. I have seen that from a couple and they state it in their bio. But those were $100 extra. It is their way of saying they prefer not to host, but will if you have the dollars.

  • Paid cuddler here. I state in my profile that I will charge a hosting fee of 1 hour for hosting, since I don't host at home. @BoomerSpooner is correct, my fee doesn't cover the cost of most hotels, which run $100-150 easily. Plus, I'm using my info for it and generally booking a location as convenient for my client as possible, which adds substantial commuting time for me.

Of course, I could just increase my hourly rate to $150 across the board, and call it good, but this works fine for me, plus is a great vetting tool for the usual Saturday 2 am "Wanna cuddle" texts , too.

That makes more sense about hosting. Thank you for The info.
