New Pro Plagiarizing My Profile

I’ve had a few members reach out to inform me that a new pro cuddler has directly copy/pasted large portions of my profile and taken it as her own.

Is this something that can be taken care of by moderators? I’m feeling conflicted about how to approach the situation. I could:

A ) Reach out and ask her to change the wording
B ) Report her profile for plagiarism(?)
C ) Ignore it knowing that the right people will be drawn to my unique energy/presence

I’d love to open this up for respectful discussion/feedback.

    I have seen this with at least one local whose profile has obviously been cut and pasted from another on here. Wouldn't surprise me if this is fairly common.

    Depending on the context and my mood that day either A and then B if they don’t change it or go straight to B

    @SoftSweetness it’s not just about how you look. Clients also take into consideration what is written in your profile. For example, one time I saw a profile, where the cuddler was lying about their credentials, and had copied my credentials some of which I knew for a fact they didn’t have. A lot of my clients broke me because of my professionalism and how detailed and organized my profile is. By stealing someone’s profile they are defrauding potential clients and stealing some one else’s identity and marketing.

    You can reach out to us mods. If they stole your profile that you worked hard on creating, we can wipe their profile and inform them to be original with their profile bio.

    Happens often. It has been declared (lol) that it's not allowed here, but where on the spectrum of unacceptable behavior is a mystery that seems to be correlated to how big a stink the author kicks up and nothing else.
    The last empty little charlatan I confronted and reported for her trashy plagiarism suggested I was the one with a deficit. eventually my ranting to mods succeeded in having my writing struck from her profile, but entire paragraphs were replicated and remain.
    My opinion is it should be a banable offense. If you can't project your unique value, you have no value. You also cheapen the atmosphere and stink up the place. But I probably have a lower tolerance for trash, porn bots, and bad neighbors than *gestures broadly

    I would recommend “A” as a first step but I would not hesitate to escalate to “B” if “A” didn’t produce the desired result.

    As a client, I rely heavily on someone’s profile to decide who I want to contact. I NEVER reach out to someone with a blank or even extremely short / generic profile. A well written profile says a lot about a person: their motivation for being here, their preferences, their personality. I would never reach out to someone with a great profile if I knew it was plagiarized because that says the exact opposite of what the profile itself says: that the person is lazy and/or sketchy / untrustworthy.

    I have put a lot of effort into my own profile to give potential cuddle partners an idea of who I am. Most of it is deeply personal. I agree with @xandriarain that plagiarizing a profile feels like identity theft. The worst part is if someone sees the plagiarized profile first, then yours, they may think you are the one who did the plagiarizing.

    I had that happen to me with some random guy on the site. I contacted him and also reported it. He copied my profile, exactly as I had written it. It was changed. Surprised he wasn't banned. As far as I know, he is still on the site. I blocked him. Creepy to see yourself being cloned by someone else.

    I don't advocate plagiarizing other people's profiles. However, it won't bother me if someone copied my profile because they feel it truly reflects who they are. Does the site have any policy against doing that???

    I had someone pretty much do a copy and paste of my whole profile, I was quite upset and messaged them directly and got the rudest reply, I reported her but no outcome. So I ensured I blocked her from looking at my account again.

    Start with A and expect to be blocked by her. Then report to mods. You wrote your profile and just because it's not copyrighted, doesn't mean you don't deserve respect. Thievery is thievery, it's character.

    I deleted the copied text and notified the person to update their profile. I know how much time and effort can be put into crafting our profiles, and for pros it’s especially important since they are using it to gain clients. For us enthusiasts, it feels much less important I’d imagine.

    For anyone that has to deal with this, from what I have seen, confronting them directly usually does not end well. If you report and it seems to fall through the cracks and not get addressed, feel free to contact me and I can look in to it. I don’t think any of us mods would intentionally be ignoring your concern about this.

    I try to make mine personal enough that copy paste wouldn’t work so well. Oh, you have 700 audiobooks too! Such a coincidence! Lol. :)

    @stormydaycuddle exactly my approach too! My profile is personal enough that it will be pretty obvious if anyone did a copy paste, and I imagine it will look quite absurd -:)

    At one point I knew of 5 pros with almost identical profiles. Not sure why that particular profile text was so widely copied; it wasn’t a particularly amazing profile.

    The point about making the profile personal I don’t think is that relevant - the person copying the profile doesn’t really care whether the profile matches them; they’re just trying to avoid putting any effort into anything. And for someone browsing the profiles, they have no way of knowing which is the original.

    With the various, and increasingly numerous, free AI apps and programs I have no idea why anyone would bother plagiarizing anything.

    The AI can generate a profile for you far faster, and honestly better, than most people.

    Granted, the AI is essentially plagiarizing EVERYTHING online, but what it produces is original content.

    Especially if you take the few minutes to add in some personal details and preferences to your request, and then edit what the AI generates to your own taste.

    I say start with A, and then move to B.

    I am always flattered when a Pro asks to use my profile as inspiration and I have NEVER said no!
    Because of that, I have no tolerance for those who copy and paste without permission.

    Report their profile for plagiarism. Moderators will clear the profile and issue a warning.

    I recently cleared a profile for plagiarism and she copied the same profile the next day, leading to a ban.

    This happened to me last year. I noticed a woman looked at my profile, so naturally I peeped hers back. She had copied my profile verbatim. I sent her a message asking her to please take the introduction of her profile down and change it to something original. She told me that she didn’t have to and how did she know I didn’t copy hers?🙄 I very kindly but firmly advised her I had been on the site 3 years to her 3 days and the admin would be notified if she didn’t change it immediately. She complied within a few hours but then she was banned a few days later anyway. Up to no good obviously and she had committed some serious infraction to get banned

    I had the same thing happen to me. I reached out and said I could see they liked my profile so much they decided to steal it and advised them that’s not best practice. They apologized and changed it but got banned a few weeks later anyways.

    Hmm as far as I know, no one has ever copied my profile. Should I be happy or sad?
    How do you even find out that another (lazy) Pro has done this? It seems that it would take a lot of investigative work to find my words in someone else’s profile.
    Honestly I might be flattered!
    Maybe yours was copied because the new Pro didn’t have time to compose one using correct spelling, grammar and punctuation.
    Since so many Enthusiasts don’t read a long profile - it’s mostly about a Pro’s photos - it probably wouldn’t bother me.

    For any profiles which are public, they are also almost certainly being used to train the AI tools like chatGPT. So it wouldn’t surprise me if parts of the wording from those profiles shows up in the results for a profile generated using those tools.

    I must also say that writing is something I’m legitimately bad at - and it was several writes and rewrites before I got the current version of my own profile, so when someone just copies that work over I understand how much it would hurt. There is some consolation in the knowledge that low effort generally yields low results, just also shows a lack of integrity which results in a short life on CC for those individuals, just as @SweeTea and @applepie55 noted. I’m really glad to see however, that moderators are willing to take action on these copycats.

    I’ve assisted a few Pros in getting started in cuddling and they have copied my about me and then tweaked it to reflect their personality. ✨

    I also recommend Open AI, Chat GPT. Artificial Intelligence is changing the way we write. 🚀

    I assume that most people who plagiarize profiles are scammers. Legit people would have something original to say about themselves.

    What I think people fail to realize is that using AI and copying it verbatim, is also plagiarism.

    Copying something longer than a three word sequence, without citing it, from the internet and using it as your own, is plagiarism.

    They just haven't got that far into the discussions yet because it could cause disruption in the whole industry.

    Furthermore, plagiarism is unethical, however, not illegal. If it isn't in the CC TOS, why would people get punished for doing it?

    I hope it's clear by my numerous comments to posts and my profile, that I don't, and wouldn't, ever use someone else's words. And anyone who copies my profile would just be setting themselves up for failure.
